Starborn silence

Chapter 19: The Voice That Cut Through Silence

The air over Kanah Village was unusually still.

Sunny stood at the edge of the burned-down field, the remnants of the last battle still smoldering in the wind. His breath was shaky, not from exhaustion—but from something else. Something... approaching.

The sky turned darker. Not due to clouds. Something deeper, heavier—like the world itself was holding its breath.

From the mist emerged a figure. Slow steps. A white cloak fluttering. And a pale boy with silver eyes that seemed to shine through the dusk.

Everyone froze.

He looked too young to be feared.

Too young to carry that kind of presence.

But even Sunny… even the villagers… couldn't move. Couldn't speak. Their instincts screamed that this was someone different.

Then, the boy smiled.

"Ah," he said softly, "so this is where it begins again."

He stepped forward, each movement precise, calculated. A man walked beside him—an elite warrior, known for his cruelty.

Without a word, the boy raised his hand—and the man's body twisted midair, bones cracking. Then fell. Lifeless.

Gasps erupted.

"Let me speak," the boy said. His voice was calm, but it shattered the silence like a blade.

"They called me a monster..."

"...for refusing to believe in their comforting lies."

He stepped to the center of the square, his silver hair gleaming under the cold sky.

"Love? Justice? They are nothing more than fragile illusions created by weak hearts. Words we cling to—desperately—because we are too afraid to face the truth: this world does not care about our pain."

Sunny narrowed his eyes. Who was this kid…?

The villagers watched in stunned silence as he continued.

"I once believed. I once trusted. I loved someone... with everything I had. And I watched the world tear her apart, piece by piece, while the people who preached 'justice' stood and watched in silence."

"No god came to help her. No hero arrived. Only silence... and a society that labeled her death as 'unfortunate'."

Sunny's chest tightened. That pain… it was real. Too real.

"So I made a choice," the boy said, looking up at the dying sky.

"I will remake this world. I will burn down the lies and build something that does not rely on kindness or faith. A world where pain is not ignored, where sorrow is acknowledged, and where no one will suffer in silence."

"From now on, the mind will have laws—emotions will have order."

He turned, locking eyes with Sunny for a moment. A chill ran down Sunny's spine.

"If that makes me a villain... then so be it."

And with that, the boy vanished into the mist—leaving behind silence, and a fear that gripped the bones.

Sunny didn't know who he was. But deep down…

He knew that was the true beginning.
