Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 250: Chapter 250: Death of the Mingye Emperor

A final barrage of red and brown energy beams surged toward the enemy fleet. The red beams split mid-air, tearing through several T5 ships, while the brown beams pierced through more than ten T5 ships each before dissipating. Under the concentrated fire of the eleven T6 warships, nearly six hundred enemy ships were obliterated in a single round. Coupled with the three hundred ships destroyed by the Star Giants' earlier ambush, the Mingye Empire's fleet had lost nearly nine hundred ships.

The Mingye Empire's six fleets, each with an average of 350 ships, totaled around 2,100. This initial attack alone had decimated almost half their forces. The victory was significant, yet the remaining 1,200 ships, under Commander Mingxun's orders, retaliated ferociously, their attacks barely denting the Storm Fleet's T6 shields.

Feng Mo knew that in large-scale space warfare, casualties on both sides were inevitable—a law as old as the stars. While his previous encounters had been one-sided victories, this battle was far from such a walkover. The enemy fleet, with considerable firepower left, launched a full-scale counterattack. The T6 ships in the Storm Fleet, thanks to their dark-energy matrix shields, withstood the onslaught, losing only about 40% of shield strength. However, the Star Giant fleet, without similar defenses, suffered more, losing two hundred T5 ships.

Star Commander Silia estimated that with two more waves of concentrated fire, they could crush the remaining Mingye Empire fleet. However, Mingxun had no intention of sticking around to be wiped out. After assessing the damage, he ordered a full retreat, leaving behind over nine hundred wrecked ships. Silia refrained from pursuing, her primary concern focused on Feng Mo's safety.

When Feng Mo reached the starport, rows of colossal mechas knelt on one knee, their towering forms casting deep shadows. As he returned to the Vermilion Ape's command center, Silia greeted him with a report:

"Commander, we achieved significant superiority in this battle. With the Star Giant fleet's defection and ambush, the Mingye Empire lost a total of 947 T5 ships."

Feng Mo nodded, "And what's the status at the New Humanity System?"

"Sir, the joint fleet from the Mingye Empire and the Star Mech Empire has already retreated. Commander Hua Qin decided against pursuing. Our combined forces destroyed three thousand of the enemy's T5 ships, but we and the Star Giants suffered around seven hundred T5 casualties."

Feng Mo remained calm, calculating quickly. Battlefields inevitably took their toll, and he acknowledged that losses were natural, even expected. The enemy's total losses across both battles amounted to four thousand ships, a third of their original fleet. The Mingye Empire possessed twenty-three fleets in total, with three quasi-T6 and twenty T5 fleets, and the Star Mech Empire had provided an additional ten T5 fleets, totaling around twelve thousand T5 or higher-grade ships.

With their forces now reduced to around eight thousand, a significant portion likely needed repairs. And with the Mingye Emperor himself in his grasp, Feng Mo knew it was time to act decisively.

"Silia, order the Star Giants to mobilize two quasi-T6 and eight T5 fleets to the edge of the Torrent System, and instruct the Gale Fleet, Beast Roar Fleet, and Storm Fleet to hold their positions."

Feng Mo's plan was straightforward: the Mingye Empire's fleet was weakened, their emperor captive. He would concentrate his forces to strike directly at the Mingye System, aiming for a swift and decisive victory. Capturing this pivotal system would pave the way to conquering the rest of the Lihuang Minor Starfield.

Back at the Mingye Empire's main palace, chaos reigned. The emperor's capture threw the chain of command into disarray, with the three fleet commanders arguing over responsibilities. Mingxun accused Mingxun of failing to protect the emperor, while Mingxun retorted that Mingxun's fleet had failed to secure victory despite superior numbers.

"Enough!" roared Minggu, silencing them both. "Now is the time to think of rescuing the emperor, not to argue over who's to blame. You will both face consequences in due time."

Reluctantly, they fell silent. After a moment's thought, Mingxun suggested, "What if we declare a new emperor? With the Mingye Emperor in Feng Mo's hands, he'll likely never return. Feng Mo will use him to manipulate the entire Mingye Empire."

"Appointing a new emperor would render the old one meaningless. Whether Feng Mo kills him or not becomes irrelevant. And with a new emperor in place, we'll maintain our authority over the empire," Mingxun concluded.

In a swift move, they declared an eleven-year-old child as the new emperor. None dared oppose them, knowing that dissenters had been swiftly silenced.

Feng Mo, however, had already executed the Mingye Emperor after extracting all the information he needed, including star maps, strategic points, and knowledge of neighboring factions. For a ruler, there could be no more fitting end than to be cast adrift into the cosmos as his final resting place.
