Chapter 192: Molten Core Pepper, Floating Grass
After sending Nyra and the hunters away, Ram strolled through the forest, retracing his steps to where he had fought Kain. The area still bore the marks of their battle—broken wood and scattered stones lay everywhere, evidence of the destruction.
"Just as I thought, that fight drew a lot of attention," Ram muttered, scanning the surroundings. "Thankfully, there's no one lying in ambush." He noticed faint traces of other humans in the area, confirming his suspicion that people had come to investigate after the commotion.
Satisfied that no immediate danger lingered, Ram didn't stay long. He wandered around for a few more minutes, blending into the environment before returning to the space.
In his haste to leave after his fight with Kain, he failed to clean up his traces. Upon checking just now, he discovered many places where his blood had been left behind.
Different professionals awakened many unknown tracking methods or powerful talents; Ram still remembered how those gang members could easily find their subway station by somehow following Su Mu and Sid, or how Kain could accurately find them even under the effect of Confusion pollen.
If he acts carelessly again, he might attract the attention of Shan and other Tier 4 professionals again. Although he can try escaping back into his space again, it's better to avoid any unnecessary trouble and exposing details of his Space.
Ram was still couscous, he didn't plan on staying outside for long, "who knows what kind of methods those Blood Hawk gang members might be using to track me."
Inside the Housing Plant, Ram reappeared, his mind set on completing the final preparations for his next move.
"I still have some time," he murmured, pulling out the seeds he had recently acquired—Molten Core Pepper and Floating Grass.
He examined the Molten Core Pepper seeds first. Small and molten red, they gleamed faintly under the soft light. Focusing slightly, he activated his Spiritual Eye, causing an attribute panel to materialize before him:
[ Name: Molten Core Pepper]
[ Grade: Silver]
[ Type: Seed]
[ Description: A fiery red pepper-shaped fruit growing on small bushes, emitting heat waves.]
[ Effect 1: Eating the Core Pepper temporarily grants a 45% boost in Fire affinity and a 40% increase in fire attribute attack power for 3 hours.]
[ Additional Features: Consuming the raw Core Pepper regularly can heighten fire attribute spiritual power and fire attribute spiritual power recovery speed by 20%.]
Ram nodded in approval, although temporary, he could already imagine how this could enhance his fire-affinity subordinates like Korrin and other Half-Drow fire mages.
Just the boost of a 40% increase in attack power alone can put Korrin on par with Tier 4 professionals.
He set the seeds aside and turned his attention to the Floating Grass seeds. Unlike the Core Pepper, these seeds floated above his palm like tiny blue crystals, shimmering faintly. Inspecting them closely, another panel appeared:
[ Name: Floating Grass]
[ Grade: Silver]
[ Type: Seed]
[ Description: Floating Grass is a rare spiritual plant with silver grass blades that sway gently, even in the absence of wind. It grows exclusively in high-altitude regions near floating islands or cliffs rich in spiritual energy. The seeds of Floating Grass are light as feathers and contain a unique property that temporarily defies gravity.]
[ Effects 1: Short-Time Flying Effect, when consumed, the Floating Grass grants the user the ability to float and glide through the air for up to 10 minutes, offering mobility advantages in combat or exploration.]
[ Effect 2: Consuming the Floating Grass enhances the agility of those below Tier 4 by 30% for a short duration, improving reaction speed and maneuverability in midair and on the ground.]
[ Additional Features: Airborne Combat Boost, while floating, the user gains a 10% increase in attack accuracy and evasion rate.]
Looking at the seeds in his hand, Ram couldn't help but smile. Seeds like these, capable of temporarily enhancing combat power without any side effects, were as rare as the ones he had acquired earlier that permanently boosted Physique or Spirit attributes.
"Thankfully, there are a few members of the Infernal Goat Kin in the Dark Riverrun Legion," Ram mused. "They live in volcanic environments with special fire attribute spiritual plants growing in their territories."
Ram had discovered the peppers during that trip. Though he hadn't contributed much to the Alliance's help request at the time, the journey had been fruitful in another way. Through some clever exchanges, he managed to trade other attribute-enhancing spiritual plants for a handful of Molten Core Pepper seeds.
As for the Floating Grass seeds, Ram felt a sense of relief. "I was lucky to find them in the Alliance store. Even though they cost a huge amount of Source power, they were worth it," he thought. "The best part is, they're easy to grow and don't have strict environmental requirements. They'll be ready soon."
"Soon, these plants will give us an edge," Ram thought, as he continued the process of infusing the seeds with Life Energy.
This time, he focused on the Molten Core Pepper, carefully planting its seeds into five separate pots, even though he could grow them without the support of the spiritual soil, he planted them to ensure a balanced and controlled growth.
Plants like Molten Core Pepper, once reach maturity, they can still continue to absorb the surrounding reiki to continue producing additional spiritual fruits.
Your journey continues at empire
As the seeds absorbed the Life Energy, they began to sprout, growing at a pace visible to the naked eye.
Ram watched as the young plants transformed before him, their vibrant colors signaling their unique nature. Unlike ordinary chili pepper plants, these had crystal-red leaves and branches that shimmered faintly under the light, exuding an aura of heat.
The fiery glow was faint but steady, and as the plants matured, small buds started forming at the tips of their branches.
In addition to his Life Energy, he also had to infuse small amounts of his own Spiritual Power to make up the fire attribute energy needed for the plant.
As his own Spiritual Power was attribute less, the plant didn't reject it but absorbed it greedily, trying to evolve further. These buds, though still unripe, already emitted tiny waves of heat, indicating the potency of the peppers they would eventually bear.
The small red peppers began forming quickly, growing larger as the plants reached Tier 3.
The entire process took more than thirty minutes, consuming 800 points of reserve Life Energy and 200 points of Spiritual Power, but it yielded an impressive result.
Ram collected 22 Molten Core Peppers—enough for all the fire mages to use. "If needed, I can grow more by supplying more Life Energy," Ram thought, storing the peppers safely before shifting his focus to the Floating Grass.
Unlike the peppers, the Floating Grass seeds didn't require pots. Ram simply infused each seed with Life Energy individually.
The process consumed much less life energy than the peppers, and the seeds grew even faster, floating gracefully as they reached maturity at Tier 3.
The matured Floating Grass blades shimmered like silver threads swaying in an invisible breeze. Ram used his Seed Collection ability to harvest additional seeds until he harvested more than thirty.
With both plants successfully grown and harvested, Ram felt a sense of accomplishment. He had everything prepared to support his team, he quickly called the remaining Half Drows, then distributed the Molten Core Peppers and the Floating grass to everyone and explained his plan of action.
This time he didn't plan on taking action but watched as Korrin and other Half Drows perform, which can also allow them to earn more Evolution points.
If things get serious, he can always escape by taking the Half-Drows with him and attack again.
After distributing and instructing the Half Drows, Ram checked the time. It had taken over an hour, and he knew Nyra and the Half-Drow Hunters would likely return soon with their reports. Exiting the Housing Plant, he reappeared outside in the quiet forest and waited.
As expected, within minutes, Nyra appeared, her sharp senses and their shared mental link guiding her straight to him. Behind her, the other hunters moved silently, blending into the shadows as they approached.
"How is it?" Ram asked, his tone calm but curious, as he observed their expressions.
Nyra nodded confidently, stepping forward. "We've scouted three of their hideouts within this area," she began, her voice steady.
"One near the old warehouse by the river, another at an abandoned factory on the outskirts, and the last one is closer to the subway station."
"Each site has different levels of activity."
She paused, glancing at one of the hunters, who stepped forward to elaborate. "The hideout by the river is heavily guarded—at least seventy members stationed there, but they don't seem to be expecting an attack."
"The factory has fewer guards, maybe around forty, but it's fortified with some traps. The subway station hideout is the least guarded, only three to four members there, likely acting as a lookout."
Ram absorbed the information, and his mind was already forming a plan. "Good work," he said, his gaze shifting to the rest of the hunters. "Did you encounter any resistance or suspicion?"
Nyra shook her head. "None. We stayed out of sight the entire time, just as you instructed."
