Chapter 171: Level 6
"Hmm?"
When Masa entered Impel Down through one of the walls, one man in this prison suddenly frowned, but this wasn't because he noticed Masa; instead, he was just on the toilet as he got diarrhea.
"Nh!"
Yes, it was impossible for Masa to be discovered, especially when he used the Pika Pika to Mi to reflect all the light around him, turning himself invisible. More importantly, who would have thought that someone would enter this place? Even if the place he entered happened to be one of the prisons where several criminals were kept, as soon as he entered, all of those people passed out quietly as if they were sleeping.
"Now, I have entered this place."
Similar to Masa, who was curious, Carina, Perona, and Kalifa were also curious about Impel Down, so they were also looking around curiously, wondering what kind of a place this prison was.
"By the way, it's okay for us to talk, right?"
"Yeah, I am the only one who can hear your voice now."
"That's good, then."
As the three sighed, Perona asked, "So what are you going to do? Also... as expected, you also know this place, too, right?"
"I know."
"As expected!"
Strangely enough, the three had this confidence that Masa knew most of the things in this world.
"It's not like I know everything, okay? There are some things that I don't know, and I just happen to know this place."
"Okay, okay."
The three didn't take his words seriously since they knew that Masa knew most of the things in this world.
"So, can you tell us more about this place?"
Masa was speechless, but as he could see their genuine curiosity, he didn't mind explaining about this prison.
"Let's see, we're at Level 1 of this prison."
"Level 1?"
"Yeah, there are several levels or floors in this prison, and Level 1 is the place where the lowest criminals are kept."
"Lowest criminals?"
"Weakest."
"Oh."
Their crimes might be similar to each other, but their dangers were on different levels, so each criminal was kept based on the level of their danger, and Level 1 was the place where the weakest was kept.
"If I am not wrong, this level is pretty normal, except that it is surrounded by knife-like ground, which will cut those who walk on it."
"...that's not normal, okay?"
"But it suits their penalty."
Compared to those who were hurt by those criminals, being kept in the Level 1 prison was nothing, they thought.
"So, since there is a Level 1, there are more levels, right? How many levels are they?"
"It should be five, right?" Unlike Perona and Carina, as an agent, Kalifa had basic information about Impel Down even if she had never been there before.
"No, there are six."
"Six?"
"It will be seven if you include the 5.5 floors, too."
"...how do you know all of that?"
"I just know, okay?"
"...." Everyone.
As Masa walked out of the prison and controlled the Den Den Mushi within the area, he walked slowly and observed this place curiously. While he had seen this place in the manga and anime in his previous life, this was the real thing, and the real thing was pretty chic.
Still, the four of them practically used this fearsome place as a tourist destination, which would make anyone who knew speechless.
"You know this place, right? How about you become our guide, Masa?"
"...it's pretty weird when you say it that way since we're not here for a trip, but well, it doesn't matter. I will explain it to you simply."
Starting from Level 1, which is known as the Crimson Hell; the level houses the least-infamous prisoners and contains a large forest of red trees. The leaves of the trees, known as Kenju (bladed tree), are as sharp as blades, while the grass on the floor, the Haribariso (needle grass), is as spiky as needles. Here, prisoners are forced to run through the forest while being chased by poisonous spiders and guards to experience all the pain of being cut from all directions. As a consequence of prisoners being forced through this forest, it is soaked in blood, giving it its characteristic crimson color.
Level 2, which is known as the Wild Beast Hell, contained various wild beasts of all sorts. Prisoners kept here are forced to be chased by them through the corridors of the level. Because of the fearsome danger, prisoners often either lose the will to go on or refuse to escape even when their cells are unlocked.
Level 3, which is known as Starvation Hell, where the prisoners feel the heat rising up from Level 4 and are given precious little food and water to keep them in a near-death state. They are reduced to the point where, by merely looking at them, one cannot tell that they were once frightening criminals. Also, while the temperature here is nothing compared to the level below, it is intense enough to cause overwhelming dryness, resulting in Level 3's somewhat desert-like terrain.
"Heat?"
"Yeah, Level 4 is known as Blazing Hell; there is a pool filled with boiling blood heated by a raging fire, making it extremely hot. The heat caused by this is so intense that it also heats up the level directly above it. If one tries to jump down to this level from Level 3 using the large hole used for ventilation above but does not land in a safe place, then they will die."
"...scary."
"What about a Level 5?"
"Level 5 is Freezing Hell, which is pretty much a giant freezer. It is like the Drum Kingdom, but it is much colder, and your clothes are pretty much limited."
"...now, I understand where the hell it's coming from."
"What about the 5.5 and the six floors?"
"Let's talk about the 5.5 floors later, but Level 6 is an eternal hell, the lowest level of Impel Down. It is where prisoners who are insanely powerful, have committed extremely atrocious crimes, and whose mere existence has become a major threat to the World Government itself are kept."
"For example?"
"Gold Roger should have been on that floor before his execution."
"...." 3x
The criminals whose crimes were similar to those of Gold Roger were kept... when they heard that, they couldn't imagine what kind of criminals were kept there, but for one thing, all of them must be fearsome characters.
"That place must be your target, right?"
"That's right."
"Then, let's go slowly. Let's look around the other floors first."
"Okay."
Masa agreed, but then he thought of the chief of the Impel Down, Magellan, the user of Doku Doku no Mi, which made him a poisonous human.
'A poison...'
Shaking his head, Masa decided to give up since poison wasn't suited to his style of fighting, and he also had made up his mind on his seventh Devil Fruit, but the problem was the number eight as that Devil Fruit couldn't be found in this place, and he also wasn't even sure where it was.
'Let's think about that later.'
Still following their wish, Masa walked slowly, watching the prisoners, guards, and various beasts, including those who had gone wild due to the "awakening" of the Zoan type of Devil Fruit.
Unfortunately, those people only ate a standard Zoan Devil Fruit, and with his Baku Baku no Mi, he could mimic a feat similar to a Zoan Devil Fruit by eating various beasts and gaining their traits into his body.
More importantly, since he had previously eaten the Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard, he had gained the characteristics and traits of the Zoan Devil Fruit, so there was no need to eat more Zoan-type as it was just a waste of space, he thought.
"A cow, a koala, a rhinoceros, a zebra, and a chihuahua."
"Aren't you going to get them?"
"No, they are practically useless, and we will be discovered if those guards are gone."
"But is it okay if those prisoners disappear?"
"It is."
"It is?"
"Yeah, after all, there are many lost prisoners in this prison, but let's talk later."
"Okay." 3x
Why?
It was because they had arrived at Level 6.
"Hmm?"
