Chapter 7: Bulma, Do You Have a Time Machine?
Bulma opened her door upon hearing a noise. "Eh? Who are you? What are you doing in my house?"
"Do you still have the time machine?" Lin Qi revealed a polite smile. "I'm here to borrow it from you!"
"You even know about the time machine..." Bulma's smile was radiant, but her aged face was hard to conceal.
"I'm a Saiyan from a hundred years into the future," Lin Qi explained courteously.
"For some reason, I was thrown into this timeline. I need your time machine to return to the correct time."
"The future? A hundred years later?" Bulma looked at Lin Qi with curiosity, opened the door fully, and invited him in.
"Come, have some tea!" Bulma warmly welcomed him. After instructing a robot to serve tea, the two sat opposite each other at the coffee table.
"What is the world like a hundred years from now? Whose descendant are you?" Bulma asked incessantly, her face full of curiosity.
"Surely we'll already be dead by then, right? How did you know about the time machine?"
"Are you Trunks' son? No... his grandson?"
"Uh..." Lin Qi suddenly realized his casual excuse was difficult to maintain. Deciding to stop trying, he simply chuckled.
"Hehe... I can't reveal such things that might affect the past; otherwise, I might not even exist!"
What a foolish excuse! He thought he should have claimed to be Vegeta's grandfather instead.
But then again, Bulma wasn't even born in the past—how could she have invented a time machine?
"Oh my, such secrecy! It's really intriguing..." Bulma kept scrutinizing Lin Qi.
To Lin Qi's surprise, she believed him. She wrapped her arm around his neck and exclaimed, "A future Saiyan... I really want to know whose child you are..."
She actually believed it!
Lin Qi felt three metaphorical black lines slide down his forehead. Carefully prying off Bulma's arm, he calmly continued.
"But in the future, while researching wormholes, I somehow landed in this timeline...
"So naturally, I thought of you, Bulma. You're a brilliant scientist."
"Brilliant? Oh, you're flattering me!" The compliment made Bulma blush as she shyly touched her cheek.
Lin Qi smiled faintly. Of course, all of this was nonsense. This timeline was still in the Baby arc!
That meant Goku couldn't even transform into his Super Saiyan 4 form yet. If Lin Qi wanted strong opponents...
How many years would he have to wait in this GT world?
He absolutely needed Bulma's time machine! That way, he could skip straight to the battle with Syn Shenron, saving a ton of time!
If Goku could transform into Super Saiyan 5 by then, that would be great. If not, he could use the time machine to skip forward another three years!
He could even bring out characters like Ize, Rigor, and Zaiko from the fanfic universe!
With the power of Super Saiyan 5 or 6, the resulting energy clashes might distort space!
Then he could finally escape this timeline!
As he considered this, Lin Qi's smile grew more pronounced. He eagerly asked, "So, where's the time machine?"
"I don't have one," Bulma replied with a loving smile, utterly unruffled.
"I've never built a time machine. Perhaps the future you came from isn't the same as my world's future!"
"Uh..." Lin Qi's face froze in shock. The time machine...
It was the Bulma from Dragon Ball Super who had created it!
"Don't worry. Regardless of which world's version of me created it, as long as it's me, I can figure it out!" Bulma patted Lin Qi's shoulder reassuringly.
"Give me some time, and I'm confident I can make one for you!"
"Really?" Lin Qi's eyes lit up as he looked at Bulma, who had already stood up. "You can actually make it?"
"Of course! I'm Bulma, after all!" Hands in the pockets of her lab coat, she walked over to a holographic computer screen.
"Just describe the time machine to me in detail!"
Bulma began sliding her fingers across the screen, muttering to herself occasionally. "I've had theories about time jumps for a long time...
"If I can just pinpoint the timeline's node and twist both ends to the same dimension..."
"You're amazing!" Lin Qi sincerely praised her this time. Bulma truly was a remarkable scientist.
By dinnertime, Bulma brought Lin Qi to the dining table.
When Bra saw Lin Qi, her face lit up with joy. "Oh, you're here again?"
"Doesn't Bra find him familiar? He's a Saiyan from the future! Who knows, he might even be your great-grandson!" Bulma introduced him enthusiastically.
"Really? No wonder you fell from the sky. It must be fate!" Bra quickly bought into Lin Qi's story that had fooled Bulma.
"Dammit..." Vegeta appeared at the doorway, his forehead veins bulging with anger. "It's not enough that you're messing with my daughter—you've even lied to my wife..."
"Heh..." Lin Qi smirked as Vegeta dragged him to the gravity chamber, ignoring both women.
"No matter what you say today, I'm going to beat you to death!"
Before the gravity chamber door even closed, Vegeta roared as he transformed into Super Saiyan 2 and threw a punch at Lin Qi.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Smack! Smack! Smack!
Back at the dinner table, Bulma looked worriedly at the shaking glass of wine on the table. "Bra, do you think that boy will be okay? Vegeta is still so hot-tempered!"
"He'll be fine!" Bra nonchalantly picked up a sandwich, showing no concern for Vegeta's pride. "Dad can't beat my great-grandson!"
Bra quickly pieced things together and accepted Lin Qi as her descendant!
"Hahaha..." Bulma couldn't help but laugh. She covered her mouth, trying to suppress the sound. "Saying that about your father... he'll be quite devastated later!"
"Devastated about what?" Lin Qi's voice came from the dining room door. He spoke calmly.
"Where's Vegeta?" Bulma looked behind Lin Qi but saw no sign of her husband.
At that moment, Vegeta lay on the ground, battered and trembling uncontrollably. His Super Saiyan 2 form had long since dissipated.
He pounded the ground in frustration, growling, "Damn it... Damn bastard!"
Meanwhile, Lin Qi leisurely stayed at Bulma's home. He ignored everything else, waiting in the lab for her to finish building the time machine.
He didn't care how many people Baby had controlled or how much havoc he wreaked on Earth. As long as Bulma was fine, nothing else mattered.
All these problems could be dealt with once Goku returned!
"Hey, Dad, come shopping with me!"
Under the starry night sky, Lin Qi lay on the second-floor balcony, hearing Bra's shouts from the courtyard below as she chased Vegeta.
"If you don't come with me, I won't acknowledge you as my dad anymore! Stupid Dad!"
