Strange use of Magic (Black Clover AU)

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Strange Kraken (1)

[Third Person's PoV]

Everyone stood dressed in their regular clothing, wearing their Magic Knight robes and uniforms. Stephen was back in his black outfit, the Cloak of Levitation draped over his shoulders, with Nero resting on her favorite spot atop his head.

Kahono had since disappeared.

They all stood close together as Noelle waved her wand, casting her newly learned spell.

[Water Creation Magic: Sea Dragon's Cradle]

A large sphere of water surrounded everyone, gently lifting them off the ground. Cheers erupted, with Charmy and Asta being the loudest.

Yami placed a hand on Noelle's head and said, "Great job, Noelle. Keep it up until we reach the Underwater Temple."

"O-Of course!" Noelle replied, a faint blush on her cheeks. 'Yay! I was complimented!' she inwardly cheered.

The sphere floated through the air before descending into the ocean.

"Whoa! We're traveling underwater! This is the coolest thing ever!" Finral exclaimed.

Their excitement was short-lived as they were instantly bombarded by powerful currents. The water was so intense that multiple whirlpools formed around them, crashing into Noelle's sphere.

"What the heck is that?!" Magna shouted, staring at the chaotic currents.

"It's a gate into a strong magic region!" Yami yelled, his voice barely audible over the roaring whirlpools.

"Didn't you say the currents would be weaker?! You call this weak?!" Wanda asked, throwing Yami a skeptical look.

The group cheered even louder for Noelle, their voices filled with both encouragement and nervous energy. Magna joined in, yelling anxiously.

Luck grinned, turning to Magna. "You're scared, aren't you? Because you've got fire magic~."

"W-Who's scared, ya loser?!" Magna retorted loudly.

"Would you all shut up?! I'm trying to concentrate!" Noelle snapped, her voice laced with frustration as she carefully navigated the sphere through the monstrous currents.

Vanessa, meanwhile, turned green, placing a hand over her mouth. "Ughhh, I'm getting seasick. I think I'm gonna barf."

The Cloak of Levitation quickly spun Stephen around and grabbed Vanessa by the shoulders, turning her away. "If you're going to barf, do not do it on me. The Cloak won't like it, and neither will I," Stephen said flatly.

"Do not point that pervy witch in my direction!" Gauche snapped angrily, glaring at Vanessa. "Hurl, and I will kill you."

"It's getting weaker!" Noelle announced. A moment later, the sphere broke through the currents, revealing the vastness of the ocean floor.

Vanessa's seasickness vanished as awe replaced her discomfort. Everyone stared in amazement.

Before them was an array of coral formations shimmering in vibrant colors. Aquatic creatures swam gracefully—turtles with glowing moss-covered shells, stingrays wiggling through the sand, and sea serpents weaving through the water.

"Wooooaaah!" they all exclaimed in unison.

"How pretty!" Vanessa said, a wide smile on her face.

Charmy, however, was drooling as she eyed the sea creatures, muttering ideas for seafood dishes. She flailed her arms, trying to swim out of the sphere to catch them, but the Cloak of Levitation extended its ends, wrapping around her legs to stop her.

Before they could marvel further, the atmosphere shifted ominously. The sea creatures grew wary.

The stingrays buried themselves back in the sand, the turtles hid inside their shells, camouflaging as coral, and the sea serpents darted away as if fleeing for their lives.

"NO! MY FOOD! COME BACK TO ME!" Charmy wailed, oblivious to the change in atmosphere.

Suddenly, everything went dark.

"Huh? Who turned off the lights?" Charmy asked, turning to see everyone staring behind them, mouths agape.

"Hm?" She turned as well, her expression mirroring theirs, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Behind them loomed a giant kraken, its massive tentacles writhing menacingly. It was several meters tall, its eyes glinting with hunger.

"TAKOYAKI!" Charmy exclaimed excitedly. "Enough to feed an entire kingdom!"

"NOW ISN'T THE TIME TO BE THINKING ABOUT FOOD!!" they all shouted at her, their faces full of exasperation.

"Noelle! Get us away from here!" Wanda yelled anxiously.

Noelle didn't hesitate, steering the sphere in an attempt to escape. But the kraken moved impossibly fast, defying logic as one of its massive tentacles wrapped around them.

"It looks like we'll have to fight it," Stephen said with a faint smile, feeling a surge of excitement building inside him.

Luck grinned wildly, bouncing around with unrestrained energy. "Let me have a go! Let me have a go!"

"I'm not sure if that's a good idea…" Stephen said quickly. "Your electricity would end up harming us too if you activate it."

"He has a point. You're sitting this one out," Yami added, shooting Luck a stern look.

Luck froze, his grin replaced by a look of betrayal as if someone had stabbed him in the heart.

Stephen, noticing his dejected expression, sighed. "Fine. You can have the first go alone. If you can't beat it before you need to surface for air, we'll pull you back, and you're sitting out while the rest of us have a go. I'll protect us against your electricity for a while. Deal?"

"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" Luck's excitement reignited, and he nodded furiously, grinning ear to ear.

[Arcane Magic: Runes of Kof-Kol]

Stephen conjured a glowing magic circle in his palm, intricate with glyphs and symbols. Swiftly, he plucked the runes from the circle and hurled them around the water sphere they were in.

The Kraken blinked at the floating runes, its massive eyes narrowing with curiosity. It moved closer, staring at them with its ravenous gaze.

"I've made the sphere resistant to electricity," Stephen announced.

"So can I go now?" Luck asked eagerly, bouncing like a child on a sugar rush.

"Hold on," Stephen said, raising a hand. "We need a failsafe to pull you back effectively. Vanessa, use your magic to tie a thread around Luck. Don't worry about the electricity—it won't backfire thanks to the runes."

Vanessa nodded, summoning a wine-colored thread of magic. As she tied it securely around Luck's waist like a harness, Stephen pressed his fingers to his forehead, then tapped Luck on the head.

"There. I've established a telepathic link with you. Just say the word if you need to be pulled back," Stephen explained.

Luck was practically vibrating with anticipation, sparks of electricity dancing around his fingertips. His hair stood on end, crackling with energy. "Can I go now?!"

"Go wild," Stephen sighed.

"Yippee! Thanks, Stephen!" Luck shouted, bolting out of the cradle in a flash of lightning.

The Kraken reacted immediately, its massive mouth opening to reveal rows of razor-sharp fangs. Its long, slimy tongue shot out, wrapping around the water cradle.

Before it could tighten its grip, a streak of lightning blazed through the water, severing the tongue in half. The surrounding water turned murky with purple blood, and the area crackled with electricity as the Kraken howled in pain.

Luck emerged from the chaos, cloaked in his lightning armor. His claw-like hands gripped the severed end of the Kraken's tongue, his feral grin shining through the violent currents.
