Chapter 244: Confronting the guards!
Central University 14:
Jeremy is pondering. He feels a sense of urgency to figure out the enemies. He knows someone from Goldcorp is targeting him. At the same time, he is suspicious of the senior students.
He doesn't know why, but he thinks the 2nd-year Senior Billy is up to no good. Billy and 3rd-year Senior Timothy have shown too much hostility before.
He doesn't think they would be patient enough to let the STRIKER Department grow. He is pondering where to start.
As a first-year student, it's difficult for him to investigate the Goldcorp organization. All he can do is investigate the killers. The worm beasts have taken care of his enemies.
It can't be said to occur the same next time. So Jeremy chooses to equip himself with weapons. He already has cold weapons with him: a katana sword and a basic knife.
He is thinking about getting firearms as well, such as handguns and long-range guns. Because of the Beast Taming Profession, these firearms are not popular nowadays.
But still, people use them to target low-tier beasts. In Particular, criminals use firearms for assassination because they are the most effective. Unless they have assassin-type Lifeline beasts, which are even rarer.
After gaining some clarity in his thoughts, Jeremy decides to visit the store. So he stands up and begins to get ready.
About 20 minutes later,
He is dressed in uniform. After seeing himself in the mirror, he walks out of the room. Soon, he reaches the first floor and exits the dorm building.
While leaving, he thinks about his parents. If his father learns about the assassination attempt, then he would surely request help from the Human Alliance.
Sigh!
A helpless sigh escapes his mouth as he thinks about it. Then he starts striding toward the entrance gate. It doesn't take long for him to get there.
Just as he is about to exit, the two guards block his path. A quick gleam flashes in Jeremy's eyes. He recalls these two people's suspicious gazes from the previous time.
He knows something is wrong with them.
"What are you doing?" Jeremy asks.
His gaze falls on the two middle-aged men.
The two middle-aged men look at each other. One of them steps forward and says, "We got instructions to stop you. You can't leave the campus without permission."
"What?"
"Nonsense," Jeremy utters before trying to walk past them.
The middle-aged man's face turns ugly. They have already been bribed by the 2nd-year student Billy. They have orders from the management to stop Jeremy Night.
So nothing is stopping them right now. They are Tier-3 Beast Tamers. They can easily stop a first-year student. The middle-aged man turns around to capture Jeremy Night.
Jeremy, who is getting closer to the gate, feels someone closing in. At this time, his senses are heightened as he catches a figure trying to grab him through a side glance.
Swoosh!
Jeremy evades him by moving his body sideways. Then he looks at the middle-aged man. The middle-aged man is dumbfounded.
The other guard, who is watching the scene, is stunned. They don't know how a Tier-1 Beast Tamer can have such reactions.
Without looking at them further, Jeremy rushes toward the gate.
"Stop him!" the middle-aged man shouts.
The other guard darts forward as well. But they are a step too late. They underestimate Jeremy Night. Because of that, he easily exits the gate and comes to the street.
Shortly afterward,
The two guards walk out with anger on their faces. They see Jeremy Night getting into a cab. One of them tries to stop him, but his colleague stops him.
"Let's complain to the management. He won't have an easy time after breaking the rules," the guard says.
Hearing that, his friend nods. Then he thinks of something before saying, "We have to inform Young Master Billy as well. He will surely reward us with money."
"Good idea," his colleague says.
Meanwhile,
Jeremy enters the air cab and leaves the place. He doesn't know why the guards tried to block him, but he guesses it has something to do with the wilderness incident.
Instead of catching the criminals, they are trying to restrict him. He is disappointed in them.
First-Year Department Head Office:
Old Man Derek is going through files. He receives a call from the management office. He answers the call and finds out that Jeremy Night has left the campus.
"What?" His expression changes drastically.
He stands up from his seat. His eyes flash with anger. He doesn't know why that brat is causing problems. Clearly, someone is after his life. Then why does he leave the campus at this time?
He then leaves the office and goes to the entrance gate. When he gets there, he sees Jacob speaking to the guards.
"What's going on?"
"Didn't you tell the brat not to go outside?" he asks Jacob.
"Elder, I didn't inform Jeremy because he was taking a rest. But I didn't expect him to leave campus right away," Jacob says in a sad tone.
"You..." Old Man Derek wants to say something, but because of the guards' presence, he stops.
"Both of you are Tier-3 Beast Tamers, but you can't stop a first-year student," Derek questions them.
Hearing that, both guards' faces turn pale with fright. They don't realize the matter is serious.
Seeing the frightened expressions of the guards, Derek glares at them in anger before asking them to return to their posts.
When the two guards leave the area, Derek turns toward Jacob.
"What's going on with the kid now?"
"Is he going to the wilderness again?" Derek asks.
"Elder, I'm calling him right now," Jacob says.
When the call is connected, Jacob asks Jeremy about his whereabouts. After learning that Jeremy is visiting the Beast Taming Store, he sighs in relief.
Then he tells him about the travel ban during the call. Jeremy is shocked, but he doesn't want to argue on the call. So he decides to discuss this after his return.
When the call ends, Jacob turns toward Elder Derek.
He says, "Jeremy is going to the Beast Taming Store. I informed him about the ban. He was displeased, but he is going to return."
Derek's eyebrows relax. He then utters, "He better be."
