Chapter 21
Chapter 21: Carefree Amidst the Mortal Realm
Inside the inner court of the Yaoyue Sect.
“Old Ancestor, you urgently summoned Qingshan. Is there an important matter?”
Sect Master Yuan Qingshan knelt respectfully before the White-haired Elder.
“Beast, you might as well end it yourself.”
“……”
Yuan Qingshan was so scared that he nearly spat out a mouthful of old blood, wondering what heavenly law he had violated to warrant such a command from the Old Ancestor.
Thus, with a choked voice, he said, “Old Ancestor, Qingshan has always worked diligently for the sect, giving his all. Why would you say such a thing?”
The White-haired Elder snorted coldly, “You beast, you’ve gained some skills, haven’t you? You dare to provoke beings from the Immortal Realm. If it weren’t for the other party giving me a bit of face, the Yaoyue Sect would probably already be in ruins, and you’d have been blasted into pulp.”
Yuan Qingshan was completely bewildered.
When did I provoke such a high-level being?
“Unjustly accused, Old Ancestor. Qingshan has been in the sect for nearly three years, never leaving a step. How could I have provoked beings from the Immortal Realm? There must be a misunderstanding; I hope the Old Ancestor will see the truth!”
“Still dare to argue!”
The White-haired Elder slapped him, sending Yuan Qingshan, who was at the Great Ascension stage, into a daze.
“The immortal said he wishes to establish the True Immortal Sect on the ruins of the Fanyin Sect. You ignorant fool, you dared to cause a ruckus. You dying is nothing, but you almost implicated me as well, and you still don’t understand your crime!”
Yuan Qingshan’s expression froze, his face turning pale.
So it was about the Fanyin Sect; this matter actually reached the Old Ancestor!
Moreover, it seemed the other party had silently approached the Old Ancestor. If the Old Ancestor was so fearful, then that means…
At this thought, Yuan Qingshan felt a chill run down his spine.
No wonder the other party possesses an immortal artifact; that backing of theirs likely isn’t an Earth Immortal, but a true Immortal!
The difference between an Earth Immortal and an Immortal, though it may seem like just a character apart, in terms of strength, the gap is as wide as the chasm between heaven and earth.
A being from the Immortal Realm can easily obliterate any Earth Immortal or Loose Immortal with just a wave of their hand. After all, one is a true Immortal, while the other is merely a false one.
“Old Ancestor, Qingshan recognizes his mistake.” Yuan Qingshan, scared to the point of breaking down in tears, said, “Yesterday, a few elders from the Fanyin Sect approached to report on the matter. Qingshan only agreed to bring people to take a look; I had no idea how the news leaked.”
Upon hearing this, a flicker of deep apprehension flashed in the White-haired Elder’s eyes.
“You foolish donkey, the other party’s divine sense could see right through your thin clothes. How could your words and actions possibly evade their detection?”
As an Earth Immortal, the White-haired Elder also possessed divine sense, but it could only cover a radius of a thousand miles.
“Old Ancestor, thankfully, Qingshan hasn’t committed any outrageous acts yet. I hope the Old Ancestor will grant me a chance to redeem myself,” Yuan Qingshan pleaded.
“Enough. If it weren’t for the friendship between your great-grandmother and me, I would have dismembered you today.” Seeing Yuan Qingshan weep and express deep remorse, the White-haired Elder calmed down a bit, “You should know how to confront the True Immortal Sect from now on. Do I need to teach you?”
“Yes, yes, yes, Qingshan understands. I will send over one hundred thousand jins of spirit stones immediately. In addition, I have a female disciple named Yao Hongxue, who is eighteen years old, beautiful as a celestial being. I will send her over as compensation,” Yuan Qingshan replied obediently.
The White-haired Elder slapped him again, “Fool, do you think everyone is like you, infatuated with women? I observe that immortal from the Immortal Realm; he is a refined individual. If you send a woman over, you will only anger him!”
Yuan Qingshan knelt respectfully, feeling wronged, “Old Ancestor, you may not know, but I heard from the monks that this senior has a snake demon by his side. In broad daylight, they fought for several hours in the sect’s shrine; therefore, I boldly guessed that the senior enjoys women.”
“Oh?” The White-haired Elder showed a hint of surprise, then appeared to be relieved, “As expected of a being from the Immortal Realm, free-spirited and carefree; I cannot compare. Even so, send a few more over for him to choose.”
In that moment, Yuan Qingshan suddenly attained a moment of enlightenment, and it was no wonder that countless cultivators in the world wished to become immortals.
Becoming an immortal, not enjoying women is considered highbrow, but enjoying women is being carefree; either way, it is not wrong.
“Qingshan understands.”
“Withdraw.”
……
Chen Ansheng, accompanied by Li Huaizhen, landed next to a spiritual spring. He was unaware of the significant mental and emotional turmoil he had brought to the Sect Master of the Yaoyue Sect.
“Young Master, won’t this be a bit inappropriate?”
“What’s inappropriate? Yaoyue Sect wouldn’t dare to even let out a fart.”
“I mean… the two women bathing in the spring.”
Li Huaizhen, whose eyes were blind, could clearly sense that not far ahead in the spiritual pond, two women were bathing and playing.
As a former monk, Li Huaizhen felt even more uncomfortable than if he were a thief.
Chen Ansheng, however, was indifferent, his tone reminiscent of a teacher as he said, “What is the purpose of cultivating immortality? Isn’t it to become stronger? Why become stronger? Isn’t it to live freely and enjoy oneself? Of course, this young master is not the kind of lecher who has a voyeuristic tendency; it just so happens that I am resting here, and they are bathing here; it is all a matter of cause and effect. Do you understand?”
Li Huaizhen wanted to roll his eyes, but unfortunately, he could not.
“Young Master, I truly understand. I need to go over there and meditate for a while, I hope you will allow it.”
Li Huaizhen found it hard to convince himself to stay there, so he sought an excuse to leave.
“With just a few words from me, you gained some understanding; you truly are someone worth cultivating. Go ahead and practice.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
Li Huaizhen held his breath and concentrated, hiding in the thicket behind.
In the spiritual pond, the two young girls sprinkled water on each other, playfully splashing about like two lively fish.
After some playful antics, the girls sat by the pond to rest and chat.
“Sigh, I’m really envious of you, Hongxue, being able to join the Yaoyue Sect to cultivate.”
“What’s there to sigh about? It’s the same everywhere; it all depends on oneself. But if you truly don’t want to stay at the Taihao Sect, I can intercede with the master in a few days and ask him to accept you as well, so the two of us can cultivate together.”
“Really! Sister Hongxue, you are so good to me.”
One of the girls excitedly hugged the other.
“Sister Hongxue, you have no idea how troublesome it is to cultivate in an ordinary sect. Just a couple of days ago, I was robbed by a Nascent Soul cultivator disguised as a beggar, and he took away a thousand mid-grade spirit stones! But I dare not report it to the sect, and I can’t pursue him to demand it back, it’s so frustrating.”
“Did this really happen?”
“Of course…”
The girl began to recount the events of that day in detail.
Lying in the grass, Chen Ansheng couldn’t help but be astonished; it seemed that the girl was talking about him.
He suddenly felt an impulse to confront her.
However, upon reflection, he decided against it; he was a person with moral integrity, and rushing up to confront two girls who were bathing would not reflect well on him.
The sun was just right, and the grass was fragrant.
Chen Ansheng closed his divine sense, emptied his mind, and gazed at the sky, watching the clouds roll by.
In his ears, there was the sound of the wind, the bubbling of the spring, the chirping of birds, and the laughter and quarrels of young girls from the mortal realm…
It felt good; indeed, the mortal world was a paradise everywhere.
That said, as long as one is strong enough, where can’t one live this carefree and unrestrained life?
While he was thinking this, the two girls had already put on their skirts, barefoot, and started to walk in the grass.
“Ah! Sister Hongxue, I’ve stepped on someone!”
Chen Ansheng then realized that someone had stepped on his foot.
