Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Regret Comes Too Late

Just as dawn broke.

The Flying Immortal Sect, led by the sect master Yu Dazhi, set off with a grand procession of eight hundred experts.

“To strike against the rebels before the Radiant Moon Sect does, this move by the sect master is brilliant,” one Elder said.

Hearing this praise, Yu Dazhi smiled with pride and deliberately asked, “Where is the brilliance?”

The Elder, with a mysterious smile and hands behind his back, replied, “We take the lead. If we successfully slay the rebels, our sect will gain immense merit. Even if the Radiant Moon Sect wants to intervene, they must consider their face. I estimate we can at least take half of the territory! If we can’t defeat the rebels, we can retreat while fighting, letting the Radiant Moon Sect clean up the mess. After the event, our sect will at least have a share of the merits, and claiming a third of the territory will be justified.”

“Hahaha, you understand me well, Elder,” Yu Dazhi said, thoroughly pleased.

Just as everyone reveled in this joy, a Disciple asked, “Sect Master, what if our entire army is annihilated before the Radiant Moon Sect arrives?”

The Elder: “……”

Yu Dazhi: “……”

“Shut your mouth! With the sect master and all the Elders personally taking the lead, even the Radiant Moon Sect must fear our sect’s strength. A few mere thieves are nothing to worry about,” a core Disciple scolded.

“But…” the Disciple said nervously, “Last night I got up to relieve myself and found Mr. Long Chú’s body being pecked at by a flock of crows. I think this is an ominous sign.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the joyous atmosphere instantly evaporated.

Moments later, Yu Dazhi laughed again and said, “Everyone, do not forget, Long Chú is a reverse beacon. His body being desecrated is certainly a great auspice!”

“Hahaha, the sect master makes a valid point.”

The crowd sighed in relief, but the Disciple remained worried, muttering, “Even a blind cat can find a dead rat someday. Perhaps this time Mr. Long Chú is right.”

“You little brat, ruining my state of mind again and again! Seize him and execute him on the spot!”

Yu Dazhi, feeling anxious from the boy’s words, flew into a rage.

“Please spare me, Sect Master…”

Before he could finish begging for mercy, he was already chopped to pieces by chaotic blades.

“Everyone, the Brahma Sound Sect is just ahead; today, our sect will surely win! Which Elder will go first to scout? There are heavy rewards from our sect!”

Only a mile away from the Brahma Sound Sect, Yu Dazhi secretly released his spiritual sense but could not penetrate the thin layer of white mist, causing unease in his heart.

“Reporting to the Sect Master, this old man is willing to go probe!”

“Good! Elder Gu, you are the backbone of our sect and a peak expert in the Integration realm; you are the perfect choice.”

“This old man will go!”

Elder Gu flicked his robe behind him and soared into the sky toward the Brahma Sound Sect.

Upon reaching the old site of the Brahma Sound Sect, Elder Gu was completely dumbfounded.

Between the mountains, the palatial structures rose and fell, enveloped in ethereal light, painting the misty mountains in rainbow hues.

Visually stunning, it was magnificently grand!

“In just one night, such an expansive celestial palace was built; this cannot be the work of mere mortals.”

Originally ambitious, Elder Gu’s heart was filled inexplicably with fear.

He regretted not having taken this reckless role.

However, with the arrow on the bow demanding to be shot, retreating would only serve to amuse the disciples.

Thus, he mustered his courage and shouted, “Those vile thieves occupying the Brahma Sound Sect, I, the Fourth Elder of the Flying Immortal Sect, have come to exterminate you. Do not hesitate to meet your death!”

Upon hearing this domineering shout, the old monks hiding in the woods joyfully exclaimed.

“Amitabha, everyone, our reestablishment of the sect is in sight; let’s hurry to assist!”

In no time, ten old monks, still hopeful, soared into the air.

Inside the main hall of the True Immortal Sect, in the forbidden palace.

Chen Ansheng lay amongst a few soft cushions; having expended much energy teaching his divine skills yesterday, he intended to rest fully and rejuvenate.

Unexpectedly, some Minions from outside came clamoring.

Chen Ansheng immediately spread his spiritual sense to clearly observe the situation outside.

Then, he got dressed and walked out of the forbidden palace.

“Young master, it’s those ungrateful old monks who conspired with the Flying Immortal Sect to challenge us.”

Li Huaizhen had long been waiting outside the hall, and upon seeing Chen Ansheng, he immediately reported.

“Got it,” Chen Ansheng nodded lightly.

“Young master, allow me to go slay those old fellows,” Li Huaizhen offered.

However, Chen Ansheng raised his hand to stop him and said, “These ants, fearing power but lacking virtue, need not trouble you this time; I shall handle it personally.”

Li Huaizhen’s heart stirred; it seemed the young master was genuinely angry enough to deal with these old monks himself.

“Zhi Zhang, you have colluded with rebellious thieves, occupied the sect, and betrayed your master and ancestor; today, we have heroes from the Flying Immortal Sect to aid us in exterminating you. Hurry forth to meet your demise!”

The more than ten old monks, bolstered by the backing of the Flying Immortal Sect, were much braver than yesterday.

Swish!

Two figures shot into the sky like beams of light, landing before the Flying Immortal Sect Elder and the old monks in the blink of an eye.

Seeing Chen Ansheng and Li Huaizhen, the old monks felt an undefined fear, retreating in dismay and casting glances at the Fourth Elder.

Even the Fourth Elder found it hard to maintain his composure; he felt as if countless mountains were pressing down on his chest, making it hard to breathe.

But since Sect Master Yu’s large troop had already arrived, there was no need to flee now!

“Hey, vile thieves, do not kneel and beg for mercy!” The Fourth Elder persevered, bellowing.

Chen Ansheng did not directly crush him; instead, intrigued, he said, “I would like to know who gave you the courage to come here and provoke us. Have you not inquired how the Radiant Moon Sect conducts itself?”

The Fourth Elder sneered and said, “My Flying Immortal Sect raises the banner of righteousness to slay such a minor thief like you; why must we ask anyone else?”

“Good.” Chen Ansheng nodded with a smile, then turned his gaze to the more than ten old monks, his expression immediately darkening: “You old bald donkeys, choosing the hard road instead of the easier path, then do not blame me.”

The old monks cowered behind the Fourth Elder, laughing maniacally, “Hahaha, little brat, today hundreds of experts from the Flying Immortal Sect come to exterminate you. You still dare to speak wildly—let’s see how you beg for mercy later!”

Chen Ansheng was too lazy to waste words with these foolish monks and flicked his finger.

A strand of celestial aura shot out like a bullet.

Bang!

That old monk burst apart with a single sound, turning into a cloud of blood mist.

“Ah, this!”

Seeing this, both the remaining old monks and the Fourth Elder turned pale, nearly losing their souls.

“Celesial might! Real celestial might!”

The Fourth Elder trembled, his body uncontrollably convulsing.

The person before him possessed a celestial power so pure and terrifying; surely this was not just an earthly immortal, but rather someone of great celestial might!

It’s over…

The Fourth Elder felt his strength drain, his knees buckling as he attempted to kneel, but behind him came shouts of battle:

“Charge! Kill!”

Yu Dazhi was right in the front, directing: “The Fourth Elder has drawn out the bandit; all Elders and Disciples, charge and kill with all your might, no errors allowed!”

Having issued his orders, Yu Dazhi was sure that today’s battle would end in victory, his previously tense heart now relaxed. He couldn’t help but lament the loss of Mr. Long Chú.

“Long Chú is dead; I shouldn’t have slain that insolent boy just now; I should have let him take Long Chú’s place.”

As he regretted, Yu Dazhi had already pushed his way to the front of the formation.

“Sect Master, quickly kneel, hurry…”

Upon seeing the Fourth Elder, he wore a mournful expression as he urged Yu Dazhi to kneel.

“Hmm?” Yu Dazhi frowned deeply and said, “Fourth Elder, are you out of your mind?”

“Sect Master, the opponent is celestial… quickly, beg for mercy,” the Fourth Elder spoke, and collapsed mid-air.

“Impossible!”

On the opposite side, Chen Ansheng saw that the time had come to eliminate them.

It wasn’t that Chen Ansheng was cruel; it was simply that the other party had made mistakes and should naturally pay the corresponding price, right?

Thus, Chen Ansheng opened his palm and gently pushed forward.

A mist of celestial light illuminated the world, terrifying celestial might crushed mountains and rivers.

“Celestial…”

Feeling the power capable of reversing heaven and earth, Yu Dazhi’s eyes instantly lost all spirit, so frightened he involuntarily wet himself.

“Long Chú, oh Long Chú, I regret not listening to your words; my life is over.”

Regret, a deep regret.

But what good was that?

That hand, which pressed down on heaven and earth, fell, and the more than eight hundred Elders and Disciples behind Yu Dazhi didn’t even have time to scream before they were turned to ashes.

As for Yu Dazhi? Chen Ansheng merely shattered his meridians, leaving him with just a breath of life.

Why?

Because two sects were still on their way; leaving him alive allowed everyone to witness his tragic state, as a warning to others.

Additionally, the only survivors were the remaining old monks.

“Masters, what do you think? Do you still remember the teachings I gave you the other day?” Chen Ansheng taunted as he stared at the trembling old monks.

“Immortal, we know we were wrong. Please spare us!” The old monks were filled with regret; had they known he was an immortal, not even a thousand of them would have dared to seek trouble.

“Huaizhen, it’s up to you now.”

Chen Ansheng turned around indifferently.

“Yes, young master.”

Then, Li Huaizhen summoned a celestial scythe, the aura of demons entwining him as he stepped toward the group of monks.

“Master Huaizhen, do you remember? I held you when you were a child…”

Swish!

The black blade light flashed, and the old monks’ heads fell, blood raining down from the sky.
