Super Divine Pet Shop

Chapter 9: Seventh-tier Lightning Technique, Thunder Cut! (Part 1)

Soon, Su Yanying and her Lightning Rat arrived at the Star Pet Combat Arena.

Although she wasn't wearing the academy uniform, the gatekeeper clearly recognized Su Yanying and let her pass without asking for her student ID.

"Flame Slash!"

"That's the Flame Slash from the Crimson Flame Hound!"

"Such a pity, the Flame Slash missed and was dodged by the Flame Demon Beast—wait, no! The Flame Slash is coming back, oh my god, it's coming back!!"

As soon as Su Yanying entered the competition hall, she heard the excited screams of the referees filling the entire arena, deafening everyone.

At the same time, there was a collective gasp from the audience on both sides of the entrance.

Su Yanying remained unfazed; scenes like this were all too familiar to her.

She glanced around and quickly spotted her class.

Class 3-2.

She rushed over but suddenly remembered her pet, Lightning Rat, was still behind her…

This little guy… She had never brought it to such a grand event before. With such a huge crowd cheering, she wondered if it might be scared.

She hurriedly turned around, only to see the Lightning Rat trotting closely behind her. When she stopped, it stopped as well, looking up with a confused gaze from its narrow little eyes.

Not affected, huh… Su Yanying breathed a sigh of relief. Pets weren't just wild animals; they had simple minds and some level of intelligence. A pet with a more timid personality would usually freeze in fear at such a scene.

Due to the tight schedule, she hadn't had time to practice with it or even let it adjust. Seeing it so fearless and undeterred now surprised her a bit.

"Yingying, where did you run off to? I looked everywhere for you, you scared me half to death!"

As soon as Su Yanying returned to her class, her friend Lan Lele spotted her and immediately rushed over.

"I went to get my Star Pet," Su Yanying replied as she followed Lan Lele to the back of the class. She glanced up at the stage and asked, "Which match is it now?"

"The fourth one. After Jiang Bingkuai finishes, it'll be your turn." Lan Lele nodded toward a figure in front of the class, a girl with sleek black hair. Both she and Su Yanying were major focal points in the class, and over time, their subtle rivalry had developed due to the surrounding environment.

As Su Yanying's close friend, Lan Lele naturally didn't have much fondness for the girl.

"Oh," Su Yanying nodded, not paying much attention, her gaze still fixed on the competition stage.

At that moment, Lan Lele noticed the Lightning Rat nibbling on some fruit peel on the ground near Su Yanying's feet. She was surprised, "Is this the Lightning Rat you sent for foster care before? Is it starving or something? Why is it eating everything?"

Upon hearing her words, Su Yanying turned back and saw the Lightning Rat happily munching on the fruit peel. Her expression shifted slightly.

"Stop eating that, it's too dirty," she immediately said, using her bond with the pet to convey the message.

Being someone with a strong sense of cleanliness, Su Yanying couldn't stand her pet picking up trash from the ground.

At the same time, she thought of that damn pet store.

That cursed black-market shop!

Once the competition is over, she was going to report that place to the Star Pet Association!

Sensing Su Yanying's command, the Lightning Rat stopped eating, blinking its eyes in confusion.

"You're bringing it out to battle?" Lan Lele glanced at the Lightning Rat, then looked at Su Yanying with shock.

"Of course," Su Yanying replied calmly.

Lan Lele widened her eyes, "Are you crazy? This is the annual Star Pet Tournament! The lowest-level pets in this competition are all second-tier! You're sending the Lightning Rat out there? It'll be a massacre!"

"The academy has rules. There can't be any fatalities in the matches. If there's danger, the referees will intervene in time," Su Yanying explained.

"But even if it won't die, what's the point? The Lightning Rat is just a first-tier middle-level pet. Any random pet on the field can beat it," Lan Lele said, puzzled.

"I know," Su Yanying said with a firm and determined gaze. "But don't forget about my battle pet secret technique: the Third-Tier Power Boost!"

"The lower its tier, the stronger my power boost will be. I should be able to make it fight at a second-tier middle-level strength. Combined with my tactics and commands, it'll be able to hold its own against other pets!"

Lan Lele knew well what Su Yanying was capable of. Still, she asked, confused, "Didn't you say your family hired a high-level healer to restore your 'Hundred-Tooth Evil Tiger Beast'? Why not send it out?"

"After the previous fight, everyone thought it was injured. Now it's my trump card; I can't reveal it easily," Su Yanying replied in a low voice.

Lan Lele sighed, "You've got bad luck this time. You ran into some tough opponents right from the start, or else you wouldn't be in such a tough spot."

Su Yanying remained silent, not responding.

At this point, the fight in the arena ended, with the Crimson Flame Hound's trainer emerging victorious. Both competitors stepped off the stage.

Meanwhile, the girl Lan Lele referred to as "Jiang Bingkuai" slowly stood up, immediately drawing the intense attention of all the boys in class, as well as some other spectators who glared at her.

"This girl has all the luck, only facing rookies!" Lan Lele muttered angrily.

Su Yanying furrowed her brow but didn't respond.

A few minutes later, the battle concluded, and the cold-faced girl, Jiang Bingkuai, walked down from the stage.

Su Yanying could feel her eyes shift toward her as she descended.

That look seemed to say, Don't disappoint me…

Hmph!

Su Yanying tightened her fists, but her face remained calm.

"Let's go," she said, standing up. This was directed at both Lan Lele and the Lightning Rat beside her.

Sensing a slight change in her mood, the Lightning Rat also stood tall, its narrow eyes flashing with a sharp light.

But no one noticed the dangerous glint in the eyes of a low-tier Lightning Rat.

They walked down the corridor and toward the stage, Su Yanying taking one step at a time as she ascended.

The Lightning Rat bounced up after her.

In the enormous arena, Su Yanying stood quietly, meeting the gaze of the entire crowd.

Her face showed no signs of fear, her gaze held high and serene.

"It's Su Yanying from Class 3-2!"

The referee immediately announced her name with enthusiasm, "Now, let's take a look at the big screen and see who Su Yanying will face!"

Everyone turned their eyes to the massive scoreboard above the arena. A string of faces flashed across the screen before stopping at one.

"Bad luck!" Lan Lele's expression shifted as she recognized the face. It was Zhang Xiao from Class 3-7, a formidable opponent and one of the top fighters in the class!

Su Yanying's expression also changed slightly.

Her luck seemed to be pretty bad. Was she really facing another tough opponent?

Soon, her opponent stepped onto the stage.

A 1.75-meter-tall young man, with messy black hair and a smug look, wearing an expensive watch that exuded a wild, rich-kid aura.

"Class 2's Su Yanying?" Zhang Xiao saw his opponent and couldn't help but chuckle, "Seems like my luck is pretty good. I heard you got all your pets injured in the previous fights. Tsk tsk, so now it's just you and this little rat, huh?"

Su Yanying's face darkened, and her heart slowly sank.

"The match will be a best-of-three. Each side can send out only three pets. No malicious injuries allowed. The match begins now!" The referee's cold voice echoed.

Zhang Xiao smiled lightly, raised his hand, and activated the power of his contract. Immediately, the space in front of him began to swirl and twist, and a figure shrouded in black flames landed on the ground.

"Second-tier Gale Force!" Zhang Xiao's body glowed faintly, transforming into a whirlwind that enveloped the black-flamed figure, a basic power boost known to battle pet trainers.
