Chapter 170: Epic Collaboration
"Hello there, student, may I ask if you know Qiao Ze?"
Just as several people had just stepped out of the side door of the teaching building, a young woman with a fresh and pretty appearance, somewhat like the girl-next-door type, came up to them with a microphone and aimed it at Zhang Zhou, who was on the very end, while someone next to her was filming with a cellphone.
Well, this was probably what it's like to encounter campus interview hosts.
In fact, just before class started, many people had mentioned to Su Mucheng that today lots of hosts were wandering around the school, asking everyone about Qiao Ze.
However, Su Mucheng hadn't expected to run into them so soon and couldn't help but cast a curious glance at the woman conducting the interview.
By now, Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang had both realized what was going on.
Since Zhang Zhou was the one being interviewed, Gu Zhengliang immediately stepped forward, surrounding the female interviewer, blocking her view towards Qiao Ze and Su Mucheng; meanwhile, Zhang Zhou had already started to chat away, "Of course, we know him. Actually, we're all classmates with Qiao Ze, but God Qiao usually prefers to keep to himself."
"Exactly, exactly. God Qiao doesn't like to talk much. We just saw him when we got out of class; he seemed to be heading to the bathroom. If you wait here a little longer, you might see him. He seemed to be wearing a light blue shirt and gray casual pants today, right?" Gu Zhengliang said and looked at Zhang Zhou for confirmation.
As soon as he said this, Zhang Zhou immediately understood. Today, Chen Yiwen was dressed like that, and sure enough, he didn't come out with them because he said he was going to the bathroom.
"Yes, and he's carrying a black shoulder bag, which was awarded to him by the school."
While the two were speaking lively, Qiao Ze had already quietly walked away with Su Mucheng.
This tacit understanding was quite good.
It wasn't just the interviews by these small online hosts that Qiao Ze couldn't be bothered to show up for, even for the highest level of professional interviews, he couldn't be bothered to make an appearance.
The two had already walked quite a distance away, while the pair behind them were still energetically diverting, taking turns and not giving the lady host a chance to interject.
"By the way, God Qiao is especially low-key; even if you really do meet him later on, he won't admit it,"
"Yeah, usually, he'll say you've got the wrong person and even pretend to be someone else. Today, I saw him evade another host's interview just like that."
"Can I show my face for a moment later then? My name's Chen Yiwen, from the Mathematics Foundation class..."
"Sure, when we're editing, we'll definitely keep you in, Chen."
"Thanks, beautiful sis, you're so nice."
"Uh..."
...
"We need to tell Dean Xu about these hosts; how did they all make it to the teaching building to nab people?" Su Mucheng grumbled as they had walked a little further away.
Qiao Ze nodded his head but didn't say anything. It really didn't have much to do with him.
Not many in the school knew him; he had attended very few classes, and besides his classmates, who had seen him a few times, he had hardly interacted with anyone else. This was the advantage of not showing his face at various school events.
Although he was already quite famous within the school, even if he went to a place like the cafeteria, it was unlikely that anyone would recognize him.
It wasn't long before Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang, who had just had their fun with the beautiful host, caught up.
"Hey, who knows if Chen Yiwen will be able to withstand the test later," Zhang Zhou said with a mischievous grin on his face.
Gu Zhengliang spoke gloomily: "Speaking of which, Chen Yiwen wouldn't really be so shameless as to just pretend to be God Qiao, would he?"
"Haha, it used to be possible. But now he's hooked up with that first-year girl, ain't he? Even if he had the idea, he wouldn't dare. Otherwise, if he gets spotted by that Deng surname freshman girl, wouldn't that be truly social death?" Zhang Zhou said nonchalantly.
"That's true."
"Hey, isn't it kind of bad for you two to tease Chen Yiwen like this?" Su Mucheng couldn't help but interject.
"Bad?"
Zhang Zhou immediately cried out in grievance, complaining, "Class representative, you have no idea how outrageous Chen Yiwen can be. He used to flaunt his plagiarized papers to show off his superiority. After falling in love, he brags about his freshman girlfriend in our faces every day. Really, Gu and I have such good mentalities, or we would have shut down long ago."
Gu Zhengliang nodded in agreement with profound conviction.
The words even made Qiao Ze curve his lips slightly. One could imagine, considering Chen Yiwen's nature, that after getting into a relationship, he must have found various ways to tease the two single guys in the dormitory.
Thinking of his upcoming schedule, he asked casually, "How do you feel about self-studying?"
The question immediately made Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang exchange glances, nodding, "It's very good, quite efficient, and now we've almost grasped the stuff you asked us to master."
Suddenly, Qiao Ze said, "This week, I'll have Dr. Liu meet you guys."
"Dr. Liu?" Gu Zhengliang asked curiously, pushing up his glasses.
"That's Liu from our research group, a really nice guy. He's a doctoral student now," Su Mucheng explained.
Qiao Ze nodded and added, "Next, you'll study low-dimensional topology with Dr. Liu, then move on to point-set topology, differential geometry, abstract algebra, and finally linear partial differential equations and the fundamentals of modern mathematical analysis. Dr. Liu has very solid theoretical knowledge that can be of great help to you."
Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang nodded again and again.
Qiao Ze wouldn't say these things to them without reason.
After mastering this set of material, they would probably have the ability to truly undertake mathematical research, right?
After a pause, Qiao Ze continued to explain, "It's good that you want to do research, but it will be difficult to work on mathematical topics without understanding these fundamentals, and you won't appreciate the beauty of mathematics. In the end, you might end up like Chen Yiwen: just having your name on a paper without having learned anything."
