Survival in the Ruins: I can make everything evolve infinitely

Chapter 38 - A Man Favoured by the Heavens?!

Chapter 038: A Man Favoured by the Heavens?!

“What? Taking everything? How could you possibly escape Bloodbeard’s pursuit?”

Liyue stood up abruptly, her silver eyes widening as she leaned forward and pressed her hands on the table.

Her delicate face turned serious as she urged, “I know it’s hard to leave all these things behind, but your life is more important.”

“Uh…” Mino, seeing that Liyue had misunderstood Mu Liang, mustered her courage and said, “You… you’ve got it wrong.”

“Wrong?” Liyue froze for a moment.

“Just step outside, and you’ll see,” Mu Liang said as he divided his attention to issue a command to the rock-armoured turtle, instructing it to start moving in the direction Liyue had suggested.

“Outside?”

Still puzzled, Liyue stepped towards the door.

The moment she stepped outside, she noticed something strange. The house was moving.

No, it wasn’t just the house—the very ground beneath them was shifting.

“This… this is impossible!” Liyue dashed to the edge of the moving land, her silver eyes wide with disbelief.

“How can such a large piece of land move? This is beyond incredible!”

Mu Liang joined her, standing calmly by her side.

“Now, do you still think we need to leave anything behind?” he asked with a faint smile.

“You’re just trying to make fun of me, aren’t you?” Liyue rolled her eyes at him in exasperation.

She watched as the ground, hills, and other features slowly receded in the distance.

“No wonder you don’t want to part with anything. Your house moves!”

She couldn’t help but sigh in amazement. “This is truly unbelievable.”

Many of her previous doubts were resolved.

Mu Liang’s confidence in staying near the thieves’ gang stemmed from his mobile home.

If she had such a moving house, she’d definitely empty out Bloodbeard’s treasure vault.

“Little Xuanwu, stop for now,” Mu Liang called out loudly.

“Awuu~~”

The rock-armoured turtle stopped, lifting its head to glance back over its massive shell.

“It’s another member of my household,” Mu Liang said, patting the stunned Liyue on the shoulder with a mischievous grin.

“I call it Little Xuanwu. It’s our home.”

“L-little… Little Xuanwu?”

Liyue stammered, her mouth agape. “It’s not little at all!”

“Maybe not,” Mu Liang said, shrugging lightly.

The Level 4 rock-armoured turtle’s body had grown to over 1,000 square metres, roughly the size of two and a half basketball courts.

But compared to the legendary beast it was named after, “Little Xuanwu” was indeed an appropriate title.

“So this is the secret behind the moving house,” Liyue murmured, tilting her head to study the turtle’s massive head.

Meanwhile, Mino came outside halfway through her meal, her excitement growing as she saw the turtle’s expanded shell.

“Wow~~ Little Xuanwu has gotten even bigger!”

The bunny-eared girl spread her arms wide and happily ran across the turtle’s back.

“If that’s the case, you’ll need to be even more cautious. You’re an enormous target,” Liyue said, her gaze softening as she glanced at Mino.

She turned to Mu Liang and added, “Little… Little Xuanwu isn’t very fast. Bloodbeard will definitely catch up unless you hide deeper in the wilderness.”

“I’ll make sure they won’t dare to chase us,” Mu Liang said, his tone carrying the confidence of a former special forces soldier. He had already planned how to deal with pursuers.

“How will you do that?” Liyue asked curiously.

She couldn’t help but feel concerned since Bloodbeard’s pursuit could endanger the Angel’s Wings.

She couldn’t bear to abandon it or, worse, steal it without a clear conscience.

“You’ll find out soon,” Mu Liang said calmly.

Thump, thump, thump…

He stomped his foot, and a rocky staircase in the shape of a “7” appeared at the edge of the turtle’s shell, leading down to the ground.

The Level 4 rock-armoured turtle now stood about 12 or 13 metres tall, resembling a small hill from afar.

“Little Red, bring down the wooden spears I prepared last night,” Mu Liang commanded the red ghost spider through mental communication.

Thump, thump, thump…

“You can create stairs like that?” Liyue asked, imitating Mu Liang’s stomping motion.

She stomped her foot tentatively, her cute attempt yielding no result—no new staircase appeared.

“Maybe it’s about using the right amount of force?”

She stomped harder, still to no effect.

“Pfft…” Mino covered her mouth, laughing softly, her bunny ears twitching in amusement.

“Tch,” Liyue clicked her tongue, then jogged down the stone staircase.

As she reached the ground, she looked back at the staircase and muttered, “Wasn’t it shorter last night?”

Mu Liang, meanwhile, murmured to himself, “The most obvious thing they can track us by is Little Red’s webbing. That’ll do for bait.”

He arrived at the spot where the rock-armoured turtle had rested the night before.

It was a natural gorge between two hills—a perfect place to set a trap.

“Will these traps really stop Bloodbeard and his men?”

Liyue stood by, watching the intricate setup of overlapping traps with growing curiosity.

“They should… probably,” Mu Liang said with a faint smile.

Using the rock-armoured turtle’s newly upgraded “Earth Manipulation” ability, he began altering the terrain.

He created a large cave in one of the hills and dug pits in the ground, filling them with wooden spears before covering them with a thin layer of dirt held together by spider silk.

He also rigged piles of rocks atop the gorge’s hillsides, turning them into potential landslide traps.

“How many of them will make it out alive?” Liyue muttered, her unease growing with every new feature added to the traps.

“That depends on their luck,” Mu Liang said, his voice cold as he wiped sweat from his brow.

The intense use of his abilities had taken a toll on his stamina and mental energy.

“…” Liyue’s silver eyes sparkled with shock.

At that moment, she realised that Mu Liang was an exceptionally rare awakened being.

In just one day, she had witnessed him produce spider silk, manipulate earth and stone, condense Angel’s Tears, and communicate with ferocious beasts.

Four distinct awakened abilities.

The white-haired girl thought to herself, If I told anyone about this, they’d never believe me.

Could it be that Mu Liang was a man favoured by the heavens?!

Such a thought crossed her mind unexpectedly.

“Let’s go. If they survive and track us again, they’ll prove themselves strong enough to be worth meeting,” Mu Liang said, clapping the dust off his hands.

He turned to glance at the seemingly ordinary gorge.

“Bloodbeard’s gang is doomed,” Liyue said, already imagining their grim fate.

In her heart, she named this place the Gorge of Death.
