Chapter 67: Chapter 67: No One Can Protect Him!
In a private lounge in the Thunder Martial Arts Building in Yangzhou City, the five members of the 'Cang Hui' team from the Thunder Martial Arts School gathered. They had just returned from the wilderness area and were now counting their spoils. The excitement on their faces was clear—the total earnings from this trip were over 100 million, meaning a generous share for each member.
Cang Gu, the leader of the Cang Hui team, a burly bald man, put down the materials in his hands and grinned.
"Ha, brothers, you've done great! After we divide the money, take a few months off and enjoy yourselves. Our next trip to the wilderness won't be until June!"
A short, stocky man beside him laughed and whispered, "It's a pity we didn't leave Wei Wen in the wilderness last time. Letting him escape was a mistake. With the Extreme Martial Arts School already deeming him disabled and retired, there won't be another chance. The Supervisory Envoy..."
"Shut up! Lao Liu, keep your mouth shut!" Cang Gu snapped.
Lao Liu didn't seem to care. He casually reclined on the soft sofa and continued, "Captain, why are you so worried? The inspectors have tried to probe us many times, but we've been inactive for so long. With no evidence, who can touch us?"
Cang Gu shot a serious glance at the group. Though he felt they had dealt with Wei Wen cleanly, the memory of the two people behind him stirred unease. The promises from his superiors didn't bring him the security he craved.
"Lao Liu! Don't ever bring this up again. Keep it to yourself! I'm warning you."
Before Cang Gu could finish, a loud crash echoed as the glass behind them shattered. Glass fragments flew through the air, and the sudden shock made the five of them squint.
They exchanged glances, rushed to the window, and saw a black figure floating outside, its cold gaze fixed on them.
They were on the 20th floor of the Thunder Martial Arts Building. Though the glass was strong enough to withstand an attack from generals, it had shattered effortlessly. The sight of the figure in midair made their hearts sink.
The four men felt their combat uniforms suddenly tighten, squeezing their chests and making it hard to breathe. They were lifted off the ground, passed through the broken windows, and slowly floated toward the black-clad figure.
This was the first time the Cang Hui team had felt suspended in mid-air, but the experience was anything but exhilarating. One moment they were celebrating, and the next, they felt as though they had fallen into hell. The psychological shock was unbearable.
The five of them were tightly restrained, their heads the only parts of their bodies they could move. As they watched the black-clad figure approach, the mask slowly came off, revealing a handsome face.
The Cang Hui team members stared in disbelief. Lao Liu was the first to speak in shock.
"Mr. Ye Yun, Councillor!"
They couldn't believe it—Ye Yun, who had been missing for so long, had returned and captured all five of them without saying a word.
Cang Gu gritted his teeth, his voice loud as he protested, "Mr. Ye Yun, why are you doing this to us? Even if you're a powerful councillor, you should be reasonable, right?"
His voice carried down to the ground below, attracting attention. Since the window shattered, the noise had drawn many onlookers to the Thunder Martial Arts Building. Cang Gu's shouting echoed around them.
A cold smile played across Ye Yun's lips. He understood exactly what Cang Gu was trying to do—make this a public spectacle. With figures like Hong and Thunder God around, Cang Gu likely believed Ye Yun wouldn't be so reckless in the base city. But Ye Yun had no such reservations.
"You think I'm afraid to attack you? Or did Lei Meng give you false confidence?" Ye Yun asked coldly.
"I don't understand what Councillor Ye Yun means," Cang Gu started, but Ye Yun casually waved his hand, silencing him with an invisible spiritual barrier, and muttered to himself, "We've wasted enough time. It's about time."
The building of the Thunder Martial Arts School had many warriors stationed there. When Ye Yun shattered the glass, someone immediately alerted the top management in Jiangnan Base City. As several figures rushed toward him, Ye Yun smiled and gently lowered himself and the Cang Hui team to the ground.
Lei Meng, the inspector of the Jiangnan Base of the Thunder Martial Arts School, stood at the front. He looked up at Ye Yun with a mixture of disbelief, fear, and hatred, but eventually sighed and bowed.
"Greetings, Councillor Ye Yun!"
When Lei Meng saw Ye Yun, the flames of revenge that had burned in him for so long were extinguished. At this point, all he wanted was to protect himself. He softly spoke, "The Cang Hui team deliberately attacked the 'Nailhead' team in the wilderness, nearly wiping them out. After a thorough investigation, our Thunder Martial Arts School has confirmed the facts. I hope Councillor Ye Yun will allow us to handle them."
Ye Yun regarded Lei Meng with a half-smile, then released Cang Gu's mouth restriction. Instantly, Cang Gu's voice rang out angrily.
"Lei Meng! You're the one who ordered us to attack Wei Wen's team, and promised us 20 billion after we succeeded! Now you want to blame us for everything?!"
Lei Meng glanced at the Cang Hui team impassively. "When did I contact you? You've committed a serious crime, and now you expect the martial arts school to cover for you?"
The Cang Hui team seethed with rage, but as Lei Meng said, they had no evidence to back their claims. They could only resent their own greed and cunning.
Lei Meng knew that the accusations from Cang Gu and the others would hurt his reputation, but he had covered his tracks well. Even if Ye Yun was angry, he believed Thunder God's support would keep him safe.
As an elite war god, Lei Meng was close to reaching councillor rank, and Thunder God valued him highly. The Thunder Martial Arts School was far more important to him than a few disgraced members of the Cang Hui team.
Ye Yun laughed softly, clapping his hands.
"Haha, this is a good show!"
His smile vanished in an instant, and he pointed at Lei Meng. The moment he did, Lei Meng's face drained of color as he floated uncontrollably into the air, joining the Cang Hui team members.
"What does your opinion matter to me? I let you go because I thought you were still useful. But your actions nearly cost my brother's life! Lei Meng, stop struggling. You won't survive today."
Just as Ye Yun prepared to strike, two beams of light shot toward him. They stopped beside him in an instant, forming into the shapes of Hong and a bald man who looked like thunder.
"Ye Yun, you finally showed up! What have you been doing for so long? And attacking so publicly in the base city—this is too much! If there's something going on, we can solve it privately!" Hong said with a frown.
Ye Yun hadn't expected Hong and Thunder God to arrive so quickly. They had clearly been monitoring Yangzhou City. He was about to respond when Thunder God, glaring at him, spoke up.
"Ye Yun, you've reached the planetary level at such a young age. Your talent is incredible! But your methods are much more flamboyant than mine, Lei Shen! Lei Meng is from my school—if you want to touch him, shouldn't you have given me a heads-up?"
This was the first time Ye Yun had met Thunder God. The latter's free-spirited attitude toward life was clear, but Ye Yun wasn't about to let him influence the situation. He smiled coldly.
"Some say the Thunder and Lightning Martial Arts School and the Extreme Martial Arts School coexist, but I think your school is a joke. You, Thunder God, focus on training but ignore the development of your school. The higher-ups are corrupt, and even scum like Lei Meng can become an inspector. You must take some responsibility for this mess!"
Ye Yun remembered that when Thunder God and Hong were severely injured and fell into a coma, the Extreme Martial Arts School managed to hold strong. But the Thunder and Lightning Martial Arts School had been taken advantage of—no one had been able to fight back. It showed how poorly managed Thunder God's school was.
Ye Yun's smile faded, replaced by cold resolve. He called out, his voice echoing, "I've said it before—today, no one can protect Lei Meng! I will definitely kill him!"
