Sword Sovereign Against The Heaven

Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - No one's worthy

"I'll help you down,"

Han Zhen nodded, though inwardly, he was still processing the memories of this life.

Since his soul had revived, it had not only shaken the shackles on his memories but also revitalized his body, infusing it with an energy he hadn't known in this life.

Despite the severity of his injuries, he could now stand on his own, a small but significant victory against the body that had once been crippled.

Jin Shuiyue's voice broke through his thoughts. "After you ran into trouble, Aunt Han came straight to me. Today, She went to the main family, hoping they would step in and help you."

Han Zhen's heart clenched as a vivid image of a strong, determined woman appeared in his mind. His mother. Han Mei.

In this life, Han Mei had been both a father and a mother to him. She had raised Han Zhen with nothing but grit and determination, never once complaining about the hardships they faced.

Even when Han Zhen had been rendered powerless, his mother had still poured all her efforts into ensuring that her son would have a better future. To hear that Han Mei, a woman who had once stood unbending before the world, had went to beg for him at the door of the Mayor's Mansion, Han Zhen felt a burning surge of anger and sorrow well up in his chest. His hands clenched into fists.

This was too much. The main family had gone too far.

The main family of the Han clan, located in northern region, had always looked down on the branch family.

Han Mei had come to Sunreach City alone, building the Iron Sword School from the ground up. Her efforts had been painstaking, and she had succeeded in creating something of great renown.

But as soon as the main family saw the success of the Iron Sword School, they began to covet it. Especially now, with the discovery of the Demon-Sealing Burial Grounds in the area.

The burial ground was a coveted place, a source of immense power and ancient secrets, and only the forces of Sunreach City had access to it.

The main family had long since decided that they would do whatever it took to take control of the Iron Sword School and claim the burial ground for themselves.

Just as Han Zhen and Jin Shuiyue stepped into the Iron Sword School, a cold, arrogant voice cut through the air.

"Han Mei," the voice called out, carrying an unmistakable air of disdain. "if you want my father to step in for your worthless son, it's not impossible. But first, you must sign this Iron Sword School Transfer Agreement."

Han Zhen's blood ran cold. The audacity of it, the sheer arrogance of demanding the transfer of his mother's hard-earned legacy as if it were a mere trinket, left him seething.

The voice continued, sharper now, "Wait! Did I say you could sign while standing? Kneel down!"

Han Mei, once a towering figure of strength and resolve, now stood hunched over.

In her hands, she clutched the transfer agreement, the document that would seal the fate of the Iron Sword School. Her decades of hard work, the legacy she had poured her soul into, were now set to be given away. But it was the only way to save her son. To save Han Zhen.

Her fingers tightened around the paper as she fought back tears of helplessness. The pride that had once burned brightly in her seemed extinguished now. She was just a woman at the mercy of those more powerful than her, and her son's life hung by a thread.

"Han Mei, are you deaf?" The voice of Han Kuan, a spoiled young man from the main family of the Han clan, cut through the air like a blade.

His arrogance was palpable, a smirk plastered across his face as he stepped forward, sneering down at the older man. "I told you to kneel down!"

Han Mei's face was stoic, but the shame in her eyes was unmistakable. She had lived her life with pride, with dignity. But now, faced with the cruelty of her family, she would kneel. She would do anything to save her son.

The words from Han Kuan's lips stung like venom, each syllable a reminding her of how far she had fallen.

"Now you're begging us? Then you'd better act like a beggar!" Han Kuan sneered, stepping closer, relishing the power he held over Han Yan. "If you don't hurry up, your son will be just another corpse in that burial ground. That's what you want, isn't it?"

Every word felt like a knife to Han Mei's heart. Her son's life, her legacy, all in the hands of these people. She squeezed her eyes shut, pushing the tears back.

Just a little longer. I have to save him. I'll kneel if I must...

His knees buckled, and he sank to the ground, kneeling before Han Kuan.

Her knees buckled, and she sank to the ground, kneeling before Han Kuan. But just as Han Mei bowed her head, the silence was shattered by a voice that thundered with power."No one in this world is worthy of making my mother kneel!"
