System's POV

Chapter 735: A Heaven Beyond The Heavens [Part 2]

From the Dvalinn Federation, Hugo Riggs watched the battle with a solemn expression on his face.

Colbert used to be a nobody.

Merely one of the bastards whom his son had sired, out of a moment of passion. However, his son manned up a bit and even dared to grant Colbert the surname Riggs.

That caused a commotion in the Main Branch of the Family, but Hugo genuinely cared for his son, so he let the matter slide and tolerated Colbert's existence.

While he didn't give any special attention to the young man, the fact that he still carried their surname didn't change.

Bearing the Riggs surname, Colbert was entitled to a degree of protection and the right to learn a few of the Family's basic techniques, which were also learned by the subordinates who guarded their family.

However, his status made it so that he wasn't privy to the special Martial Technique, the signature moves of the Monarch Clans and Prestigious families.

But the prized Martial Techniques these elites carefully guarded were nothing in Thirteen's eyes.

This included the Leventis Family's Martial Technique, which he modified to form the Heaven's Blade Martial Technique.

Colbert was one of his people, so he naturally gave him a Martial Technique that fit him perfectly.

It was called Serpent's Descent.

Since Colbert was as slippery as a snake, Thirteen thought that this was the perfect skill for him.

This Martial Technique revolved around spears, body refinement, and the ability to inherit the abilities of any serpent that the user managed to tame or subjugate.

Of course, there was an exception.

Thirteen made sure that Colbert would not be able to tame or dominate any Domini Mortis, as there was a chance for the Fiend, Apollyon, who also goes by the name Abaddon, to notice his existence.

The Domini Mortis was the symbol that his followers used, and they were very sacred in the religion that worshipped this particular fiend.

When Colbert's spinning spear and Vincent's crossed blade clashed against each other, a powerful eruption shook the arena.

Colbert's spear was flung away, while Vincent's energy attack was dispersed.

But even before the spear that Colbert had thrown landed on the ground, the two combatants were already about to clash once more.

"Just how many spears do you have?" Vincent asked in curiosity after his sword clashed with his opponent's spear.

"I'll tell you if you win," Colbert replied before unleashing a barrage of spear thrusts in rapid succession.

Vincent deflected these attacks while constantly taking a step back.

Each blow Colbert delivered was very heavy, making Vincent wonder what kind of metal was used to craft the spears he was using.

Suddenly, Vincent had a bad premonition, so he immediately forced his body to jump to his right side.

At that moment, a black spear flew past him, coming from behind.

The young man still hadn't recovered his footing when another spear shot at him from his right side, forcing him to grit his teeth and block it with his sword blade.

A metallic ring reverberated in the surroundings as Vincent was sent flying from the impact of Colbert's spear.

Seeing Colbert's moves, Roland glanced at Zion, who stood on the stage, eating some potato chips with Tiona, Pica, and Pico.

Colbert's technique reminded him of the Flying Sword Technique Thirteen had taught him in the Rigel Continent.

If his guess was correct, then Colbert was using a technique similar to the technique he was using, which allowed the spears to attack autonomously or through manual manipulation.

Colbert then stomped hard on the ground, his gaze locked on Vincent, who was just about to regain his balance.

Then and there, the handsome young man sensed something dangerous coming to strike him from the ground, making him grit his teeth and shield himself with his sword once more.

Suddenly, a black spear emerged from the ground, its sharp point headed toward Vincent's chest.

Although Vincent's sword blade managed to block the strike, the force behind the attack pushed him toward the barrier, making him cry out in pain.

Blood seeped at the corner of his lips, making him wonder if he had offended Colbert in any way because his attacks were very vicious and merciless.

"Friend, I know I'm more good-looking than you," Vincent said as he wiped the blood at the corner of his lips. "But being jealous or envious of my good looks and trying to ruin it is not cool, you know?"

Colbert, who was about to launch another attack, momentarily paused after hearing his opponent's words.

No one knew where it started, but someone in the audience, particularly a guy, shouted with all of his might.

"Kill that playboy!"

That single shout stirred the other men who hated good-looking men like Vincent with a vengeance.

"Cripple him!"

"Break his legs!"

"Break his third leg!"

"Kill him!"

"Kill!"

"Kill!"

The girls gave the guys, who were shouting for Vincent's death, disdainful looks.

Clearly, they were not happy that someone as good-looking as Vincent was being hated by the men who were only jealous of his handsome features.

Colbert stood on the stage and stared at Vincent weirdly.

"Have you recovered enough?" Colbert asked. "I know you're just buying time to regain your bearings. I'll be merciful and give you ten more seconds."

"How about ten minutes?" Vincent asked with a hopeful look on his face.

"Five seconds," Colbert smiled as he once again made the spear in his hands rotate.

Vincent's expression flickered as he forced himself to stand upright, standing straight as a sword.

Holding the sword in front of him with both hands, its blade started to shine, which grew brighter by the second.

Colbert instantly knew that Vincent was about to use his Trump Card, so he decided to use his own as well.

"Let my last stand be so bright that it will be known throughout eternity!" Vincent shouted.

As soon as these words escaped his lips, Thirteen, who was about to eat a potato chip, stiffened, losing his grip on his food and making it fall to the ground.

The words that Vincent had spoken resonated deep within him because it was the same words that his former host had spoken before he died.

A brilliant flash of light erupted as Vincent swung his sword at Colbert, who simultaneously unleashed his Trump Card he wasn't supposed to show during the tournament.

"Annihilate!" Vincent roared. "Ultima Break!"

"Rend!" Colbert shouted. "Triple Fury Thrust!"

A golden crescent blade emerged from Vincent's sword strike, which was over five meters tall.

Colbert's attack, on the other hand, merged the three spears in his possession, making them spin around each other, shooting like a railgun toward their target.

Both were using their full powers in this attack, making Thirteen thankful that he decided to add some special features that would prevent the risk of anyone dying in the tournament.

He did this after the tournament ended a day ago. He had asked the Central Government for help, and since it was for the sake of the participants' safety, Lawrence and Tristan gave their approval and called experts to help with Thirteen's project.

Now that two powerful attacks had been unleashed, the teenage boy held a remote in his hand, his thumb lightly pressing a red button, ready to push at the right moment.
