Chapter 906: The 7th Layer Of The Apocalypse [Part 2]
"I think I'm having a deja vu," Thirteen muttered as he looked at the pill that was on display.
*****
< Eternal Hard Pill >
Effect: Permanently prevents erectile dysfunction.
Description: "Stand tall, stand proud… forever. Consult a doctor if effects last more than one reincarnation."
*****
Deep inside, he already expected something like this to happen. Skill Books and Pill were essentially on one and the same category since they were both consumables.
And just like what happened earlier, there were thirteen divine pills floating in front of him at the moment.
*****
< Return to Monkey Pill >
Effect: Increases physical strength but decreases intelligence.
Description: "Unga bunga, punch now, think later."
*****
Just like the Skill Books, the divine pills had weird descriptions and effects, which were tailored to unique circumstances.
There was one pill though that caught Thirteen's attention.
*****
< The 'I Can't Die Today' Pill >
Effect: Prevents death for exactly 24 hours.
Description: Even if your entire body is destroyed, it will fully regenerate within a span ten seconds.
*****
There was a similar pill that only worked for twenty four hours, and that was the…
*****
< "I Have the High Ground" Pill >
Effect: Guarantees victory in any battle where you're standing on higher ground. This lasts for 24 hours.
Description: "Even the heavens respect the high ground advantage."
*****
Both pills were genuinely enticing to use, but the 24 hour restriction was a problem. Thirteen didn't want something that he could only use for a moment.
He needed something that he could use for a lifetime.
With a sigh of disappointment, Thirteen left the Consumable area and went to the Artifact area next.
Soon, thirteen divine artifacts appeared before him. Unlike the Skills and Consumable area, the artifacts that appeared were actually very useful.
'I don't know if Metatron simply loves the number thirteen or not,' Thirteen mused. 'Thirteen seats of the Apocalypse. Thirteen divine skills, pills, and artifacts. The Divine Weapons and Armors might have thirteen sets as well.'
The teenage boy shook his head to clear out his mind and focused on the subjects at hand. He read the descriptions of the artifacts, and he found three that would be very useful for him.
*****
< Eye of the Eternal Seeker >
– A gemstone monocle that reveals your enemy's weaknesses and hidden resistances.
— P.S. it doesn't work against Gods.
*****
Finding the weakness of your enemy was a groundbreaking ability. Although it couldn't reveal the weakness of Gods, it was truly an item that anyone would want to have.
'But, why did the other members of the Apocalypse skip this item?' Thirteen thought.
'If I were Beelzebub, I would have definitely chosen this as it will allow me to gain an advantage when it comes to dealing with my enemies. Kamrusepa would also love to have this treasure, so why is it still here? Did they get something better?'
What Thirteen didn't know was that Metatron had handpicked a few items from the 7th Layer and purposely hid it away.
The Eye of the Eternal Seeker was one of such divine items because he believed that Thirteen might need it more to compensate for his restrictions.
The other two items that the teenage boy had chosen was also one of those items that Metatron hid away.
*****
< Pocket Watch of the Divine Aegis >
— Generates a barrier that nullifies three fatal attacks per day.
— Even if a nuke were to drop on you, you would not die on the spot. You just have to worry about the radiation afterwards.
*****
With this item, Thirteen would gain an ability akin to having three extra lives per day.
Although it could only be used three times, each would allow him to survive any attack that could potentially end his life.
*****
< Voidwalker Medallion >
— Allows short-range teleportation to evade attacks.
— Distance of teleportation is twenty meters max.
— Can teleport up to three people as long as the one who wears the medallion is touching their bodies.
— The teleportation skill has a ten second cooldown.
*****
Similar to the Pocket Watch of the Divine Aegis, the Voidwalker Medallion was another life-saving artifact.
Although the teleportation skill had a cooldown time, it was still a very handy item to use especially when you need to escape.
After returning the three artifacts, Thirteen then headed to the Weapon Section of the treasury.
He already has the Soul Eater Armor, which was a Divine Armor that could evolve infinitely.
While there was a chance that there was a useful Divine Armor in the treasury, Thirteen would still choose his current armor because he had already created an End Game build for himself.
As long as he completed it and consumed the Titan Pill, Thirteen would gain the power of a Throne.
This meant that his strength would be equivalent to the Patriarchs of the Prestigious Families, who had the rank of Thrones.
When Thirteen arrived at the Weapon area, he once again placed his hand on the floating orb at the center of the room and called out the available Divine Weapons.
Similar to what happened in his previous attempts, thirteen weapons encircled the teenage boy, waiting for him to check their information.
But just as he was about to choose, a fourteenth weapon appeared, even nudging the side of his head on purpose.
"What's this thing doing here?" the corner of Thirteen's lips twitched when he saw Ruyi Jingu Bang, which belonged to the Monkey King.
However, just as he was about to touch the weapon, Metatron appeared and gave a light cough.
"This is confiscated," Metatron said as he grabbed the golden staff, which started to struggle from his hands. "It doesn't belong here."
The God of the Apocalypse then disappeared without another word, leaving the teenage boy with his hand reaching out to an empty spot in front of him.
Still, he couldn't help but smile before looking up at the ceiling of the treasury, where countless stars twinkled in the sky.
"Stop being too mischievous," Thirteen said to no one in particular. "Of all people, you're trying to play a prank on me."
Sun Wukong scratched his head. He wasn't playing a prank on the teenage boy at all and sincerely wished to give him his staff, but Metatron felt the appearance of a foreign item inside his domain and immediately took it away.
"Don't interfere," Metatron appeared beside Sun Wukong and tossed the staff back to the Monkey King. "What will you do if this gets confiscated at a critical moment? Can you handle the consequences?"
"My bad." Sun Wukong reached out to grab his staff, which had shrunk to the size of a toothpick.
He then placed it inside his ear for safekeeping.
Metatron shook his head helplessly before returning to his domain.
The other Celestials paying close attention to the teenage boy laughed at the Monkey King because his attempt to give his first friend a cheat item ended in failure.
Even so, Sun Wukong ignored them and continued to drink his wine while watching the teenage boy check the information of the weapons around him.
"Excalibur?" Thirteen blinked. "This weapon finally achieved Divine Rank due to the power of Faith?"
Gods were born through the power of Faith. The more believers they had, the more powerful they became.
This was especially true with the New Generation Gods who mostly relied on the power of their believers.
But the power of Faith didn't only affect Gods.
It also affected people who gain God-like powers due to the belief that they receive from people.
Excalibur was a weapon whose tale had been passed from one generation to the next.
Because of this, it had attained the Divine Rank.
A suitable weapon fit for a King.
Thirteen then glanced at the twelve other weapons around him and narrowed his eyes.
In his current state, having a Divine Weapon in hand might not allow him to kill a Throne or Monarch, but killing those of the Champion Rank and below was still very possible for him.
If he paired up the Divine Weapon with the Titan Pill, there was a possibility that he could kill a Throne once certain conditions were met.
So, Thirteen decided to check every information of the weapons around him.
Although getting a weapon was optional for him, he wouldn't reject the idea of gaining a trump card aside from those he had long prepared for the Jinn invasion.
Metatron watched the teenage boy appraise the weapons one by one.
While he didn't know which treasure Thirteen would choose in the end, he was certain that it was something that would help him survive the challenges that he would have to face in the very uncertain future that would soon come to pass.
