The billionaire's secret system

Chapter 6: CHAPTER 6

Chapter Six: The Fire We Can't Escape

The silence between them was thick—charged with the remnants of stolen kisses, the confessions neither of them had dared to make before.

Elena's chest rose and fell in uneven breaths as she stood inches away from Adrian, his words echoing in her mind.

"Then fall, Elena. And I'll catch you every damn time."

Her heart wanted to believe him. But could she?

She turned away, pressing her hands against the cool glass window, staring at the city below. The world felt so big, yet at this moment, the only thing that mattered was the man standing behind her.

Adrian didn't move. He simply watched her, waiting. He was never the type to beg, but for her… she could feel the way he was willing to bend.

"Adrian," she whispered. "This isn't just about us."

His reflection appeared behind hers in the glass, his hands sliding to her waist, his warmth seeping into her skin. A tether. A silent plea.

"I know," he murmured. "But tell me you don't want this. Look me in the eyes and say it, Elena."

She squeezed her eyes shut. She couldn't.

Because wanting him wasn't the problem. Wanting him was inevitable.

A Love Too Dangerous to Hold

She turned slowly, facing him, her body trapped between his and the glass. His hands never left her waist, as if he was afraid she'd slip away.

"This could ruin everything," she said, her voice shaking.

Adrian's lips curled into a smirk—not cocky, not teasing, but dark and knowing. "Then let it."

Her breath hitched. "You don't mean that."

His thumb brushed against her bottom lip, his eyes filled with an intensity that made her knees weak. "I do."

She swallowed, heat coursing through her body. She wanted to believe in this moment, in him, in them. But the fear still lingered.

"What if this is a mistake?" she whispered.

Adrian's gaze darkened. "Then it's a mistake I'm willing to make a thousand times over."

The Kiss That Changed Everything

Something inside her snapped.

Without thinking, without hesitating, Elena grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him down into a kiss that stole the breath from both of them.

Adrian groaned, his hands tightening around her as he pushed her back against the glass, his lips claiming hers like he had been starving for this moment.

It was fire. It was destruction. It was everything they had been running from.

Elena's hands tangled into his hair, pulling him closer, as if she could drown in him and never come up for air. Adrian kissed her like he was branding her—as if he was making sure she never forgot what he tasted like, what he felt like.

When they finally broke apart, their breaths mingling, Adrian rested his forehead against hers.

"I'm not letting you go," he murmured. "No matter how much you try to run, Elena. You're mine."

Her heart thundered in her chest.

And for the first time, she let herself believe it.

She was his. And maybe… just maybe… he was hers too.
