ANHS- End Of 2nd Year

Koji was sitting back enjoying his ice cream as he saw ANHS's team play against the Ku-ring-gai High School. Its foremost player in Koji's eyes was Itoshi Rin who rushed through the field in a calculated manner though in Koji's eyes, he could see he was attempting to imitate someone and that his abilities as a player were likely less effective because of that. He watched as Rin dribbled part Hirata with ease leaving him in the dust.

Hirata tried to stop him by turning around but Rin said "I won't lose. Not until I reach my brother. Not until I destroy him!"

Hirata made a shocked face as Rin passed to his teammate who rushed upfield. He got into a perfect position but the pass from his teammate was shabby at best. Rin had to move to attempt to recover but Shibata slide-tackled the ball away as Rin cursed "Damn it."

Shibata shouted to everyone on the ANHS team "Get up the field and score. As one unit!"

All of the ANHS offensive players rushed up passing between each other as Hirata lined up for the shot but a teammate called for a pass. Hirata passed the ball as the teammate shot it but Rin had arrived there blocking the shot with his face as it went out of bounds. Hirata looked shocked and asked, "Are you okay?"

Rin didn't bother to pay attention as he said "If you have enough time to worry about me then pay attention to the game lukewarm striker."

Koji looked on at the match with Sudo next to him shouting "Come on! That was so close! You can do it!"

Koji thought 'That Itoshi Rin is the best player on the field. The way he reads the field is simply spectacular. His offensive and defensive abilities are exceptional.'

Rin got up from the ground as his team's goalkeeper said "Get into a position that makes sense Rin. None of us get what kind of plays you're trying to do."

Rin looked at him and said "Pass the ball to me." as the goalie did as he asked Rin stuck out his tongue a little and said, "I'll do it myself and crush them all."

Rin rushed up the field as he looked at Hirata and thought 'Your Weapon is your all-rounder ability. You can be good at anything you want but....' He went shoulder to shoulder with Hirata and then pushed him over with his shoulder and thought '... your abilities are average at best' but then he snapped out of it and thought 'What am I doing? I'll never beat Sae like this. I have to remain in control of my...' Sibata slide-tackled the ball away as the ball landed at the feet of an ANHS player who scored as the whistle blew.

Sudo shouted in happiness "You did it!!!"

Koji looked at the situation and thought 'Itoshi Rin. How stupid. Handicapping yourself like that.'

Some students from Horikita's Class met with Hirata congratulating him as Koji said "You did good out there."

Hirata smiled and said, "I'm still a bit sore from being shoved like that." He seemed to be sweating a little in fear as he thought 'He was completely different for a second. That aura... that surrounded him. It felt like there was no way to win but then it just stopped out of nowhere. We're lucky it did or we could have lost this match.'

Rin looked at Hirata as if he were a pathetic person and left the field annoyed to have lost the match.

The Next Day

Koji was sitting on a bench when Hirata approached him a ball came flying at Koji, and he could feel the ball coming at him as an aura leaked out of him for a second. Hirata thought 'It feels the same as with that other guy... no even more intense!'

Koji kicked the ball away with what Hirata thought was surprisingly good power in his shot. He then asked, "Ayanokoji. Would you like to play football with me?"

Koji looked surprised and said, "I've never played football though."

Hirata looked surprised and asked, "Really? Not once?"

"Not once," replied Koji.

Hirata looked at him perplexed and said, "It's strange. Did you not have a normal childhood?"

"I just never tried it," Koji replied.

"Then why don't you try it?" asked Hirata.

Koji looked at Hirata and said "I don't think I'd be very good at it"

"Come on. Just give it a shot," Hirata urged him as Koji begrudgingly agreed to it as they made their way to the Football Field. Hirata placed the ball down on the grass and said, "Why don't you try to kick it into the goal?"

Koji nodded and he kicked the balls but it went completely off target. He walked over collecting the ball thinking 'I see. So if I make some adjustments...'

Hirata started walking over and started saying "Hold on let me show you...' but before Hirata could get close Koji kicked the ball as it hit the back of the net. Hirata stared at the beautiful kick that he could only do on lucky occasions as the final words left his mouth in shock, "... how to kick..."

Koji then turned to him and said, "That's a goal right?"

Hirata looked at him smiling and said "Yeah that's a goal! That was amazing! Have you really never played before?"

Koji shook his head saying "I haven't. It was just one goal."

Hirata shook his head not knowing what to say before deciding and saying, "If you say so but you've got some talent. Join the football club."

Koji shook his head and said, "I'd drag the team down."

Hirata looked sympathetically and said, "No way you would. I'm sure you'd do great."

Horikita walked over and said, "But Ayanokoji. Didn't you once tell me how much you admired the Football Team and wanted to join and try football?"

Koji looked at her and thought 'I have never once said that in my entire life.'

Horikita looked at Ayanokoji and thought 'Ayanokoji-Kun has impressive physical ability. No doubt he'd do well. If they won the nationals they'd earn our class a lot of points.'

Ayanokoji then looked at Horiktia and said "Horikita. I told you that in confidence."

Horikita looked at him with fake scepticism and asked "You've just been invited yet you're still too nervous to even try out?"

Hirata looked shocked and asked "Nervous? i thought we were pretty welcoming. Does something bother you Ayanokoji-Kun?"

Koji sighed thinking 'Damn you Horikita.' as he said, "Alright. I'll give it a go." Hirata looked happy.

They arrive and Koji tries his best to look average and not be picked but Koji is surprised to see that he is picked as Hirata says "Welcome Ayanokoji. You'll be a sub for our other Striker Sajou-Kun,

Koji looked at him and said, "Huh? Did I get in?"

Hirata smiled and said awkwardly "Well a teammate of ours is dropping out of the team and you were pretty good so yeah. Welcome."

Koji sighed knowing there was now no way out of it.

Start Of The Third Year- Major Tournament

Isagi walked out onto the ANHS football field. Despite his loss to Kira, his team had won against the other losing teams so they had a chance to make up for it here and maybe even get a rematch with Kira. He saw the ANHS Students walk out as Isagi's team was winning 1-0 it was halftime and Hirata walked up to a tired teammate and said "Get some rest. Ayanokoji will handle the rest." The teammate nodded stepping off the field as Hirata walked over to Ayanokoji and said "Time to make your debut Ayanokoji-Kun."

Koji looked at him and said "You're not serious are you? This is a major tournament and this is going to be my debut?"

Hirata rubbed the back of his head and said "I'm sorry we couldn't put you in other matches but we didn't really get that tired until now."

Koji sighed taking off the sub jacket and getting onto the field as he said, "Alright fine." He then thought 'Horikita must have told him to not let me onto the field till an important match. She's far too cunning. Now if we lose because of me I'll be hated which isn't good for my peaceful life. I have no choice but to let loose a little.'

Isagi rushed upfield with the ball as Shibata blocked his path as Isagi's coach shouted "One for all Isagi! Pass the ball!" Isagi had learnt from his previous match though ignoring his coach as he shot the ball.

Koji intercepted it and he said, "What an Ego you have in you Isagi Yoichi." Koji thought 'If not for me predicting him shooting he would have scored without question.' Koji raced forward towards the other side of the field.

Isagi's coach shouted "You were supposed to pass Isagi! If not for you we would have scored."

Isagi shouted back, "When has that ever worked since we came into this tournament!? I want to win with my goal!"

Koji ran past Isagi and said, "You're right. You could have scored if not for me." as he made it into the perfect spot with the ball. Hirata lined up past the defenders ready for a pass but Koji's eyes glowed with Aura as he shot the ball into the goal scoring.

The Announcer shouted "Goal! From the Debuting Striker for Tokyo Advances Nurturing High School Ayanokoji Kiyotaka scores! Such amazing technique too."

The Scoreboard Changes--> Ichinan (1) : Tokyo Advances Nurturing High School (1)

Isagi grits his teeth as Ayanokoji walks over to him and says "Thanks Isagi. If not for you I would have passed the ball but when I saw you I wanted to try to score myself."

Isagi looks at Koji and says, "But you scored and I didn't."

Koji looked at him and said "That's correct but I don't feel anything from that goal. It doesn't excite me."

Isagi looked in awe at Koji. The match restarted as Isagi was taken off with another player being subbed in as Koji thought 'So they took him off for not passing. For not following instructions. Is this what football is like? It all seems a bit pathetic to me.' As soon as Isagi was taken off the match turned for the worse for Ichinan.

The Whistle Blows

The Final Scoreboard--> Ichinan (1) [Isagi] : Tokyo Advances Nurturing High School (4) [Ayanokoji, Hirata, Ayanokoji, Ayanokoji] 

The Announcer was shocked as Koji scored that last goal not passing and shooting without hesitation as he shouted "The Match is over!!! A stunning Hat Trick from the debuting player Ayanokoji Kiyotaka."

Some reporters walked up to Ayanokoji praising him as he said calmly "I'm nothing special compared to the big world out there." and walked away.

The Reporter then said into the camera "What a modest young genius."

Koji met with the other students from his class as Sudo jumped at him and shouted "That was amazing! You got a hat trick on your first time on the field."

Hirata laughed a little and said, "He really is a genius."

Horikita walked up to him patting his head as Koji asked "What are you doing Horikita?"

"Giving Red-Panda-Kun a pat on his head to reward him for a job well done of course," she replied.

Koji sighed and said, "I'm not a Red Panda though." and grabbed her hand gently removing it from his head. He turned to Hirata and asked, "Were there any scouts here this match?"

Hirata laughed a little and asked, "Are you hoping to get scouted Ayanokoji-Kun?"

"Well that's one thing but there was this guy in the stands... never mind," he said.

6 months Later- Cafe

Koji sat down with Horiktia who said "We won just barely."

"Yes that special exam was tough but you showed excellent leadership," he replied.

She looked a bit smug when Koji patted her head turning the favour from the back then as she looked at him perplexed and asked "Is this some kind of revenge head pat?"

"I guess it is," he replied.

She sighed and then said, "Now about why I asked you here I wanted to ask you." He nodded and she asked, "Why did you break up with Karuizawa-San at the end of our Second Year?"

He looked at her confused and asked "Did you really only now just find out about that? You don't talk to people about stuff like this a lot do you?"

"I heard rumors but I assumed they were just that. Rumors."

Koji then answered "I dated her in an attempt to learn about love. I was hoping to fall in love."

Horikita raised an eyebrow and asked, "So she couldn't make you feel that way?"

"There was a moment when we had fought and were about to break up. Even though we reconciled my heart didn't even twitch. At that moment I realised it wasn't possible with her and that dragging her along would be foolish." he said in a matter-of-fact tone. Horiktia nodded her head in understanding when Ayanokoji asked, "Now that I'm single do you want to become a candidate for the girlfriend position?"

Horiktia blushed and said, "That's not funny Ayanokoji-Kun."

"It's not meant to be though," he replied.

"So you're serious?" she asked.

"I am," he responded.

Horiktia blushed deeper as she then looked at him and asked, "So what am I another experiment like Karuizawa?"

He smiled a little and said "Not really. When it came to conversations with her there was always a divide. We were interested in different things so we could never hold a proper conversation unless I was instructing her on what to do. I could never enjoy our conversations. With you even if it's about things that aren't important I enjoy our conversations."

Horikita looked at him in surprise and said "I... I'll consider it." as she felt her heart skip a beat. later that night she researched about love being inexperienced and learnt that her relationship with Koji was quite typical for a married couple causing her to blush further.

Next Day

Horikita met with Koji in his dorm as he had been reading a letter and had put it down as she had a blush on her face and said "I... I like you too."

She saw a slight blush almost unnoticeable on Koji's face as she was shocked when he said "I'm glad."

He grabbed her shoulder pulling her into a hug. She felt like she was melting into his arms. Koji heard a knock on his door as he opened it to find a man with a Re Al Jersey who asked "You're Ayanokoji Kiyotaka right?"

He nodded saying "Yeah that's me."

The man handed a paper to him that showed the Re Al youth academy as Horikita looked shocked saying "Isn't this a big break for you? I heard Re Al is the best club in the world."

Koji took one look and said "I'll have to refuse as the man left stunned and speechless as Koji turned to the letter from before." Suzune looked at him with no words as he picked up the letter and said "Blue Lock. A place to make the best striker in the World Huh? I'll bite."
