The Boundless Journey

Chapter 1: Chapter 1 : The Letter

In the middle of the night, in a spacious room in a hospital was a girl looking at a letter from an unknown sender, given to her, by her father after the surgery.

She was still a little dazed from the surgery and slowly looked at the envelope given to her. On it was written, 'To My Love' , confused by whom would call her love. She cautiously opened up the letter and started reading it,

As soon as she saw the unfamiliar handwriting on the paper, she turned the letter backwards. Fear and curiosity started to rise in her heart as it overwhelmed her. She didn't know who it was, only thing she knew that her father gave her this letter. Curiosity about who was the writer was killing her, Gathering all the courage, she opened the letter.

----------------------------------------------

Dear Elia,

I know that you don't know me, but I have known you for years in the shadows. I know that this is a weird way to confess but I didn't have a choice.

----------------------------------------------

Slowly the writing became more familiar , it was Max's the quiet kid from the orphanage. She was always stealing glances at him secretly, a few times when there eyes meet or there hands brushed each other. She felt something in her heart , she couldn't comprehend that feeling but it was like a pulling force whenever she saw him.

----------------------------------------------

I wanted to do this in person but you had fallen gravely ill before I could do anything. In my mind if I hadn't done anything then I couldn't live any longer.

I gave my heart to the rightful place where it belongs. Also don't you dare come this side soon, I want you to live your life to the fullest, visit new places, meet new people. I don't have much time to write the letter so I will keep it short. Please look after the kids in my orphanage. I made a deal with your father that he will look after the orphanage after I pass.

In the end all I want to say to you is,

I Love You.

Max

----------------------------------------------

A drop of tear fell on the paper, slowly one after the other tears started to flow. The girl started to sob and gripped the paper tightly.

'Y...you idiot, why did you have to leave me, why didn't you say anything. Why didn't I say anything... All this ti..me'

She cried as the unspoken words, the years of holding those three words in caused the biggest regret of her life.

'Sobb..sobb...:

The pain she felt was in her chest but not physically but emotionally, that the one she had truly loved in this world whom she had hoped would spend her entire life with was now gone from this world. All she could do was cry her heart out.

----------------------------------------------

A white ball slowly descended onto the a crystal clear land. Nothing was in the view for miles in this empty land. Only the hovering white ball, in this entire place.

Slowly the ball started to grow and started to take a humanoid form. The ball was now in a shape of a young boy. He was Max.

After opening his eyes he was startled by where he was currently. He thought back to what had happened. Soon he realised that he had died, but a faint smile started to form on his face. He didn't regret one bit about giving his heart to her.

If he had another chance to do things differently. He would still pick the same choice and give her his everything. Although he didn't feel any regret he still felt a hollowness in his chest. He held a small regret that maybe it was a little too early for him to go. He would now never be able to see her, spend time with her, go on dates, spend their life together. But alas it was not meant to be in this life.

After recovering from the past, he started to look around the place but couldn't see anything in this vast plane. He waited for a few minutes for something to happen but it didn't.

He thought that there might be a judgment for his karma and would either be sent to the heaven or hell, but no one came.Max thought that rather than just standing around, he should check out his surrounding not like anything can kill him anymore now.

The place was very mysterious, the ground didn't feel hard enough to stand but it still supported him. The surrounding was eerie and nothing for miles. The silence of this place felt like time itself didn't exist in this place. Taking his first step ahead he ventured in a random direction.

Hours passed but nothing appeared in this entire plane. He had walked a long distance but he didn't feel any fatigue, rather he didn't feel anything. Feeling more invincible in this plane he started to sprint, he was able to run at a speed he couldn't have in the past.

At the horizon he started to see a shadow of something. Finally, seeing something in his sight, he rushed towards the shadow. It slowly started to form a shape. It was a pillar of light. Max stopped dead in his tracks. He was mesmerized by the view and stared at it for a few minutes. Soon he regained his awareness and dashes towards the pillar.

Maybe he would find answers at the base of the pillar. As soon as he took a step towards the pillar the air around him started to vibrate, it was like the entire fabric of this place was getting enravelled. A few minutes passed by and Max reached the base of the pillar. Nothing was around the pillar of light. The pillar was the only thing in this entire plane. Max started to invstigate the pillar of light.

Max circled the pillar some times but didn't find anything clue or hint for what he had to do next. Feeling frustrated by losing the only sense of answer, Max moved away from the pillar. He sat on the ground and started to look at the sky and the pillar from a distant trying to find something.

Max started to dewell in his thoughts about his only true love out there. He finally started to see the consequence of the action he did. Max wanted to spend his life with her but it was cut short. His life has never been the best ever, no parents, relatives or friends. Only the orphanage was a place he could call home.

The children over at the orphanage were like his brothers and sisters. The orphanage was in a very bad state financial, so they had less and less food to eat. But Max gave most of his food to his younger siblings for them to stay healthy. Even after having to live so frugally they were happy to have each other's company. Max would miss them all after he gave his life, most importantly he would miss her the most.

Finally reconciling with his actions, he looked towards the pillar. He saw a shadow of a small creature hovering a few feet above the ground, inside the pillar. Max quickly got up and dashed towards the pillar.
