The CEO's Wife Is A Demon God's Daughter

Chapter 952 952: Flint's Resolve

"Go, Flint! Don't look back!" Cassie pushed him, urging him to follow the path leading him to the Sacred Place. She couldn't focus on fighting the evil witch if Flint was there. He might get hurt.

Meanwhile, Flint was still hesitating to leave her. "I can't–"

"If you stay here, you will just get in my way, Flint. You will also slow us down. You need to get your power so that you can help us," Cassie tried her best to convince Flint.

Scarlet was blocking the witch's attacks. She already summoned three skeleton beasts attacking the Firefox.

The first creature, a towering skeletal serpent with elongated ribs resembling wicked spikes, slithered forward, its bone-chilling hiss reverberating through the eerie landscape. With lightning speed, it lunged toward Scarlet aiming to ensnare the firefox in its bony coils.

But Scarlet's agility helped her to dodge the skeleton serpent's attacks. Meanwhile, the second beast, resembling a skeletal wolf, matched Scarlet's speed and agility, its claws scraping the ground as it circled the Firefox, growling menacingly. Its jaws snapped hungrily, eager to tear into Scarlet's defenses.

The third creature, a winged skeletal giant bird with jagged bone wings that cast distorted shadows, soared through the hazy skies above, emitting a haunting screech. It descended swiftly, aiming to assail Scarlet from above, claws poised to strike.

Despite the overwhelming odds and the ferocity of the attacks, Scarlet stood resolute, not afraid of them. As the skeleton beasts closed in, the Firefox moved faster, evading the serpent's coils with a nimble sidestep.

Scarlet drew a deep breath, the glow within its chest growing brighter until it erupted into a searing inferno. With a mighty exhale, Firefox unleashed the fireball—a scorching orb of immense power hurtling forth with astonishing speed.

The fiery projectile streaked toward the skeletal serpent. Upon impact, the fireball erupted into a dazzling explosion, engulfing the beast in a tempest of searing flames. The serpent writhed and recoiled, its bone structure crackling and disintegrating under the intense heat, dissolving into a cloud of spectral ashes.

Meanwhile, Cassie saw that Scarlet was being attacked simultaneously by the witch's skeletal beasts. She had no time to spare. She turned to Flint one last time and pleaded, "Please Flint. You have to leave. If you are here, my attention will be divided. Leave now before Scarlet gets injured."

Flint cast a look at Scarlet and the evil witch. He could understand the urgency of the situation. His presence would just hold Cassie and Scarlet back. He didn't want them to get hurt because of him.

"You are right. I am useless. I can't help you because I don't have supernatural powers. This time I'll do my best to acquire powers. And I promise… I come back. Please stay safe and wait for me." Flint held Cassie's shoulders, his eyes filled with worries and concerns toward her.

Cassie gave him a reassuring smile and said, "Don't worry about us. With our combined powers, we can defeat them."

She wanted to wash away Flint's worries. She reached out, cupping Flint's face. She wasn't certain if she could win. She might die from this fight and she might never see Flint again. All she wanted right now was Flint getting his power and going home safe.

'Scarlet, are you sure that the Sacred Place is not a dangerous place for Flint?' Cassie asked Scarlet again through their mind link. She wanted to make sure that nothing bad would happen to Flint. He was going to the Sacred Place alone.

'Yes, master. No enemies there. Only test will be given to him. The Sacred Place will decide what power it will vested on Flint.'

Hearing Scarlet's response, Cassie felt relieved. For now, the Sacred Place was the safest place for Flint.

"Go now, Flint." Cassie softly mumbled, her fingertips delicately tracing the lines of his cheeks. But before he could turn around, Cassie closed their gaps, her heart racing with a mixture of longing and uncertainty. She pressed her lips against Flint's, a gentle yet fervent embrace, as if trying to etch the moment into their memories.

Flint didn't resist her, instead, he responded with the same longing and eagerness. As their lips met in a tender union, Cassie's thoughts raced, a whirlwind of emotions cascading through her. This might indeed be their last kiss and she wanted to grab the opportunity.

Reluctantly, Cassie pulled away, her gaze locked with Flint's, a silent exchange of emotions passing between them. She lingered for a moment, her hand still softly cupping his cheek, imprinting the memory of his features into her mind, before finally stepping back, a mixture of longing and resolve etched in her expression.

"Flint, goodbye for now. You must go," Cassie urged softly, her voice laced with a bittersweet tenderness, a flicker of hope mingled with the weight of uncertainty. It was a gentle farewell.

With inner turmoil, Flint clenched his fists. He knew he had to follow the path leading to the Sacred Place, despite the ache in his heart pulling him in the opposite direction. With a deep breath, He turned away from Cassie, feeling the weight of her sacrifices to protect him.

Every step he took felt like a great struggle against the magnetic pull of their connection. Yet, driven by a sense of duty and a desire to protect, he forced himself forward, each stride carrying him closer to the Sacred Place.

As he sprinted along the winding path, Flint's thoughts raced with conflicting emotions. He refused to look back, fearful that even a single glance at Cassie might shatter his resolve and he might return to her side.

In the depths of his mind, Flint sent a silent prayer to Cassie, a fervent plea echoing in the recesses of his thoughts. 'Thank you, Cassie, for protecting me. I will return," he vowed internally, his determination fueling his resolve. A deep longing swelled within him, a promise etched in his heart to return the favor. 'This time, I'll be the one protecting you. So please, stay alive.

Keep safe.'

As he raced toward the Sacred Place with a sense of urgency, Flint's resolve solidified, fueled by the promise to return stronger and shield Cassie from whatever dangers lay ahead.
