The Chinese Elf's Family Rescue Adventure

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: We're All Juniors, Sui Sui Should Be Tolerant

After scolding the lousy company, Xia Kai didn't plan to give up just like that. He looked around, wanting to ask his good friend Jian Lin for advice. He didn't see anyone in the room. After asking the staff, he found out that Jian Lin and the assistant director had gone out.

"I'll be back in a jiffy." Xia Kai greeted Wen Chi and dashed out too.

Now, only Wen Chi was left standing foolishly in the middle of the small hut. Everyone around was busy as a bee, having nothing to do with him. For a moment, he was at a loss, not knowing what to do.

"Sui Sui." Sui Sui slipped to Wen Chi's side quietly like a little ghost and tugged at the corner of his clothes.

Wen Chi looked down and saw Sui Sui's small face full of doubts. He sighed and bent down, asking, "Are you hungry?"

Everyone was so busy that they didn't have time to take care of the little one's breakfast. Wen Chi was just about to say that he'd peel an egg for her later.

"Sui Sui." Sui Sui couldn't help wrinkling her small brows. "Why is everyone unhappy?"

Wen Chi thought for a few seconds and simply squatted down in front of Sui Sui, soothing her, "You've misunderstood. Everyone's not unhappy."

Although it was a white lie, Sui Sui didn't like it. Her little mouth pouted so high that it could hold an oil pot.

"You lied to me again! I don't like it when people lie to me!" Sui Sui glared angrily with her big eyes.

She had already noticed that the two people hovering around the grass were in a complicated mood. Beneath the ecstasy was more worry, pity, and regret. Centered on them, the negative emotions had affected everyone present. Obviously, the reason everyone was unhappy had something to do with these two people. Sui Sui knew all this clearly!

Wen Chi was startled. He didn't expect Sui Sui to be so sharp. He decided to tell the truth:

"The orchid you brought is very precious. Those two are experts in studying orchids. They said the orchid might not survive. If the orchid dies, the people here will be in big trouble. That's why everyone is in a bad mood. It has nothing to do with you."

If it got involved with the news of the appearance and destruction of an extinct plant, it wouldn't be a good thing for the show "Peach Blossom Spring". People outside wouldn't blame Sui Sui. They would suspect and make wild guesses. In the end, the blame would point at the variety show team, and Wen Chi would bear the brunt. By then, the show probably couldn't go on. How could the workers who depended on the show for a living be in a good mood? However, Wen Chi tried to simplify the reason and explained it in a way that a three-year-old could understand.

Sui Sui really understood. She clapped her small hands, her eyes shining brightly, "I get it! If the grass survives, everyone will be in a good mood, right?"

Wen Chi hesitated for a moment, "You could put it that way."

"That's so easy!" For Sui Sui, taking care of grass was as easy as eating and drinking.

Wen Chi didn't understand at first. Then, he saw Sui Sui running towards the grass on her short legs and squeezing her small head between the two experts.

Wen Chi was stunned, and the two experts were also a bit dumbfounded.

"Er, little friend, you can't come here."

"This is my grass!" Sui Sui retorted unhappily.

The two experts weren't surprised. They had heard the police captain mention this. Logically, they naturally didn't believe that the Baishan Spring Orchid was dug up by a three-year-old from the mountains, so they mumbled a few words to fend off Sui Sui.

Sui Sui was too lazy to argue with them. She thought to herself that all these people were youngsters! As an elder who had lived for thousands of years, she had to be magnanimous! She had to be tolerant! Besides, Sui Sui had already decided to give the grass to these people for Wen Chi's sake. Anyway, the grass was easy to find. Her spiritual land was full of it, and it wouldn't matter if she gave a few plants away.

"Good grass, grow up healthily!" Sui Sui stretched out her small hand and gently stroked the leaves of the orchid.

She was so gentle that the two experts hesitated and didn't stop her.

"Grow up nicely, so that I can eat you up!"

Sui Sui's words didn't scare the orchid. Instead, it became more energetic, and its leaves swayed gently, as if it was happy.

The pupils of the two experts shrank. Illusion? Or wind? No, there was no window nearby. Where did the wind come from? The two experts were full of questions and carefully observed the state of the Baishan Spring Orchid. They always felt that it was much better than before. Its leaves had even stretched out and become greener.

They were so focused on their research that they didn't even notice when Sui Sui slipped away.

"All right!" Sui Sui ran back to Wen Chi as if she had accomplished a great feat. "The grass won't die! I did a good job, didn't I? I'm great, right?"

Sui Sui secretly glanced at Wen Chi, with a little expectation.

Wen Chi had seen the whole process and was both amused and exasperated. "Sui Sui, you can't do this... Well, yes, you're great."

Sui Sui automatically filtered out the first half of the sentence and only heard the second half. "As expected of me!" ( ̄▽ ̄)/

Wen Chi was infected by her smugness and couldn't help but smile. "Do you want to eat a boiled egg?"

"Yes, yes!"

Now Wen Chi had something to do. He took Sui Sui to the kitchen, which was actually a corner of the main room. Wen Chi didn't forget to wash his hands first before using a strainer to scoop out the boiled eggs from the pot. The stove had just been turned off not long ago, and the eggs were still hot. Wen Chi dodged Sui Sui's hand that was reaching out to grab the eggs and personally cracked, peeled, and split the eggs. Sure enough, the eggs were a bit overcooked. Wen Chi stuffed half of one into his mouth first. Hmm, the taste of a plain boiled egg. When he looked down, he saw Sui Sui looking at him eagerly. Wen Chi casually handed the other half of the egg to Sui Sui's mouth.

"Here, eat it."

Sui Sui gobbled up half of the egg in one bite, and her small cheeks immediately puffed up.

Wen Chi worriedly reminded her, "Eat slowly. Don't choke."

"Gurgle..." Sui Sui mumbled a string of words that Wen Chi couldn't make out at all. Judging by the little one's unyielding temperament, she probably said something like "I won't choke".

... He wondered if she knew she was rolling her eyes.

Wen Chi didn't dare to be careless and brought over a bottle of mineral water. Sui Sui took two big gulps from his hand before swallowing the yolk that was stuck in her throat.

As if realizing that she had lost a bit of face, Sui Sui's little tuft of hair drooped, and she pouted aggrievedly, "It's too dry!" As she spoke, she pointed angrily at the culprit — the egg.

Wen Chi also thought she had a point and readily agreed, "Yeah, it is a bit overcooked."

"That's right, that's right!" With the approval, Sui Sui's little tuft of hair perked up again.

But they still had to finish the eggs. With the help of the mineral water, Wen Chi and Sui Sui shared the remaining two eggs. Sui Sui was small and burped after eating. Looking at Wen Chi, one and a half eggs weren't even enough to fill the gap between his teeth, and his stomach was still empty.

Sui Sui seemed to notice that Wen Chi wasn't full. "Do you want to eat something else? I can..."

"Don't!" Wen Chi quickly interrupted Sui Sui, for fear that she would take out another protected plant! Then he'd be really close to going to jail!

Sui Sui looked puzzled: What a strange fated person.
