Chapter 102: Time-Turner
One night had passed since the banquet, and I waited for Marie to enter the room of requirement.
"But if you're going to keep me here, at least tell me what you want me to do."
The door opened, revealing Marie, who was carrying Hermione like a sack of potatoes.
"Here, I brought her to you."
"Evelyn? What's going on, and why did your girlfriend force me to follow her? Also, what is this place?"
"I asked Marie to bring you here so we could have a quiet chat without being interrupted."
"I don't have time to talk, I have to go to class."
"And which class? Divination or Arithmancy?"
As I spoke, I activated the system in this room, causing time outside to pass more slowly.
"Also, if I remember correctly, you attended Divination with your friends, and I doubt they would have let someone kidnap you right before their eyes. So I assume you were actually heading to your other class. But one question remains—how could you be in two places at the same time? The answer is quite simple: you have a Time-Turner."
Hermione's reaction confirmed my words.
"But that's impossible! He would never give a student a Time-Turner."
"Unless that student is the smartest in her year. I must remind you that I've been exposed to time powder, so I can sense when it's nearby—it's like a sixth sense. You say you don't know this place, but before I came here, I saw you leaving this room and heading to your Arithmancy class."
She shrugged, admitting defeat.
"You're right. Professor McGonagall gave it to me yesterday so I could attend all my classes since I chose every available subject."
"Which was a bad choice because Divination is not a subject suited for us, as you should have realized by now. As for Muggle Studies, it's not entirely up to date, and on top of that, you won't learn much from a class that simply explains what electricity is or how Muggles travel."
"Marie is not wrong. In fact, this course is mainly for those who want to live as Muggles or who wish to almost completely leave the wizarding world."
This choice is understandable, as some may simply want to live a normal life without relying on magic.
Hermione looked hesitant after everything Marie had said, but now she couldn't do anything about it until the end of the year.
"Taking so many classes will put you under mental stress like you've never experienced before, even with a Time-Turner. That's why we're letting you use this room, even though it doesn't belong to us."
She explained how the room worked and how Hermione could gain extra hours for studying or resting without worrying too much about the time passing, since time here moved faster than outside.
"You just have to keep track of time so that you don't run into your past self."
She sincerely thanked me for letting her use this room, even though it still doesn't belong to me or Marie.
She took the Time-Turner, spun it, and disappeared.
"And now, shall we go to class?"
"That would be a good idea. What do we have now?"
"Transfiguration."
And so, we quietly headed to our class.
At noon, we went to talk to Hagrid to find out what he would be teaching us.
"It'll be a surprise, but it's the same thing I'm teaching the third years."
It wouldn't really be a surprise since they had their lesson before us and could tell us.
The afternoon classes went on as usual until I overheard a rumor.
"Did you hear? Malfoy's in the infirmary because of that oaf."
"Yeah, I hope Dumbledore fires him."
The ones talking were Slytherins, so I didn't want to start an argument over how they insulted Hagrid, but I was worried about what had happened.
"Change of plans, Marie. We're going to Hagrid's."
