Chapter 107: Firebolt
"Happy birthday, Mary."
Hermione and I were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday in the Room of Requirement after she requested a very small party.
"Thank you, Hermione and Evelyn."
She wanted to kiss me but held back because of Hermione's presence.
In front of her were several gifts from our friends: Ravenclaw classmates, Neville, Luna, Hermione, Hagrid, and me.
"I'm sorry, Evelyn, but I'll open your gift last."
Most of the presents, including mine, were easy to guess based on their shape. My gift looked more like a book to her.
"Wow, this necklace is beautiful. Remind me to give your little brother a nice gift in return."
"If it's about Herbology, I'm sure he'll be happy."
She received a necklace from our classmates. Luna gave her a book about magical creatures that The Quibbler mentions—most of which are only legends, although I find the book quite interesting.
Hermione had given her a book on the use of different charms.
What was great about this book was that it showed how to make seemingly useless charms actually useful.
Hagrid had offered rock-hard cookies, just like his usual ones, but they were delicious if dipped in milk or coffee.
"Now, the gift I've been waiting for."
She took my present and was surprised by how light it was.
"So, what kind of book did you get me for my birthday?"
Her reaction upon discovering her gift was priceless—I couldn't help but laugh. She looked so disappointed, sad, and confused about why I had given her this.
"Does this suitcase mean you want me to stay away from you?"
I raised my shoulders, and she lowered hers.
"I see… You don't want me anymore. After all, I'm too clingy, jealous, and too perverted for you. I guess I should just end my life."
"Wait, that's not the message I wanted to send you!"
A look of joy appeared on her face, only to be replaced by confusion.
"Then… what is this suitcase for? Is it just a joke and not actually my gift?"
"No, I don't have any other gift. This suitcase is very useful—you can put anything inside. Whether it's an object or even a living being."
I knew that the famous Newt Scamander had a suitcase like this with the same functionality.
She opened the suitcase and looked inside.
"Oh wow, this is like a real house. I can't even see the floor."
"Do you want to explore it? I can explain what's inside."
"Why don't you join us, Hermione?"
"Of course! I'm not really in the mood to study right now."
After her Divination class, she was a bit irritated and wanted nothing to do with the subject for the time being.
We all climbed into the suitcase, and I showed my girlfriend and Hermione different areas—like a lush green space and even a winter landscape.
"One of my favorite places is actually the living area inside. The only thing to be careful about is not leaving the suitcase lying around, or it could get stolen."
When we arrived, there was a beautiful kitchen, a cozy living room with nice sofas, and even a bed.
"Your joke wasn't funny, Evelyn."
She pointed at the bed, where a Firebolt was resting.
"I said the suitcase was the only gift you'd get, but I never said there wouldn't be something inside. So technically, I didn't lie."
She picked up the Firebolt as if it were a priceless jewel.
A good broom is important, even if it's not the most useful for a Keeper. But I'd rather make sure you're comfortable for the matches this season.
