The demon lord is my girlfriend

Chapter 5: The cell

Three Hours Earlier

Naomi stood in front of the wooden door inside Koka's house, his silver eyes fixed on the handle. His heart pounded in his chest, a mix of fear and determination coursing through him. He clenched his fists, his mind racing with thoughts of Aiko.

I have to do something to find her.

He took a deep breath, his fingers trembling as they wrapped around the handle. With a decisive motion, he pushed the door open and stepped out into the crimson-lit streets of the Underworld. The air was thick with the scent of sulfur and ash, and the sky above was a deep, bleeding red. Naomi's hoodie clung to him, damp with sweat, as he began to walk, his eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings.

Where should I go?

As he ventured further, he noticed something strange. Creatures he had never seen before were running in panic, their forms flickering like shadows. They were not demons—they were something else entirely. Their screams echoed through the streets, a cacophony of fear and desperation.

They're not demons...

The creatures darted past him, their eyes wide with terror. Naomi stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing in confusion.

What are they running from?

He glanced around, noticing that the demons in the street were ignoring the panicked creatures entirely. They went about their business as if nothing was happening, their expressions blank and unbothered.

Why are they ignoring them? There must be danger.

Before he could ponder further, a deep, rumbling voice spoke from behind him.

Otas: "There is no danger. I am the danger."

Naomi froze, his blood running cold. He could feel the presence behind him—large, imposing, and filled with an aura of menace. Slowly, he turned, his heart pounding in his chest.

Standing before him was a towering figure with dark skin, a muscular build, and a short tail that flicked lazily behind him. His black hair was wild, and two sharp horns protruded from his forehead. His eyes glowed with a sinister light, and his lips curled into a menacing grin.

Naomi (scared): "Are you... Walter White?"

Naomi's mind raced, his thoughts jumbled with fear. He had no idea who this creature was, but he knew one thing—he was in trouble.

He's huge and tall. Where's Walter White when you need him?

Naomi (nervously): "Are they scared because of you, sir?"

Otas: "Yes."

Naomi forced a smile, his voice trembling as he tried to placate the towering figure.

Naomi: "How? You're very kind, sir. They can't be scared of you. They're just idiots."

I have to run.

Naomi: "Who are you?"

Otas laughed, a deep, rumbling sound that sent shivers down Naomi's spine. The laughter stopped abruptly, and his eyes narrowed as he leaned closer to Naomi.

Otas: "I am Otas, the right hand of Master Akumu."

Naomi (stupidly): "Who's Akumu?"

Otas's expression darkened, his eyes flashing with anger.

Otas: "How dare you?"

Naomi's heart skipped a beat. He had no idea what he had done wrong, but the look on Otas's face told him he was in serious trouble.

Naomi (scared): "What's wrong, sir?"

Otas: "You said my master's name without any respect."

Naomi: "I just asked who he is."

Without warning, Otas's fist slammed into Naomi's stomach, the force of the blow knocking the air out of his lungs. Naomi doubled over, gasping for breath, but before he could recover, another punch connected with his face, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Naomi: "It hurts..."

Otas loomed over him, his expression cold and unyielding.

Otas: "You're coming with me, human."

Naomi's mind raced as he struggled to his feet. He had to get away—he had to run. With a burst of adrenaline, he scrambled to his feet and took off down the street, his heart pounding in his chest.

Koka, please save me.

Otas's voice echoed behind him, filled with rage.

Otas (shouting): "You can't escape me, human!"

Present Time

The Cell was a labyrinth of despair, a place where hope withered and died. The walls were made of a strange, light green stone that seemed to pulse faintly, as if alive. The cells were arranged in a long, narrow corridor that stretched endlessly in both directions, disappearing into darkness. There were no doors, no windows—just solid walls of stone that seemed to absorb sound and light, leaving the prisoners in a suffocating silence.

The only source of illumination came from the walls themselves. When a prisoner attempted to use magic, the stones would react, glowing with a color that corresponded to the strength of the power being used. The faint light cast eerie shadows on the floor, creating a surreal, otherworldly atmosphere. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and something metallic, a constant reminder of the prison's oppressive nature.

The cells were small, barely large enough for two people to stand side by side. The floor was cold and hard, and the walls were smooth to the touch, as if they had been polished by centuries of wear. There was no furniture, no comfort—just the unyielding stone and the faint, ever-present glow of the walls.

The Cell was a place where escape seemed impossible, where the only way to see was through the light of the stones reacting to your power. The prisoners were cut off from the outside world, left to languish in the dim, oppressive glow of their own magic.

Naomi and Eden sat on the cold, hard floor of a dimly lit cell. The walls were made of Cobaltos stone, their surfaces smooth and unyielding. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and something metallic, a reminder of the strange, otherworldly prison they found themselves in.

Eden glared at Naomi, his silver eyes filled with frustration.

Eden: "We're here because of you."

Naomi looked up, his expression a mix of guilt and defiance.

Naomi: "Yes, I know."

Eden stood abruptly, pacing the small cell. He ran a hand through his messy white hair, his frustration boiling over.

Eden: "I have to find that egg, but instead, I'm stuck in a cell with a stupid boy who can't even be careful."

Naomi stood as well, his eyes narrowing as he faced Eden.

Naomi: "Stop insulting me. I have feelings too."

Eden sighed, his anger subsiding slightly. He turned to face Naomi, his expression softening.

Eden: "Fine. I'm sorry."

Naomi's shoulders slumped, his voice quiet.

Naomi: "I'm sorry too. That demon was chasing me, and I was really afraid. I didn't notice you were there."

Eden closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm himself. When he opened them again, his gaze was steady.

Eden: "You're a human, right?"

Naomi: "Yes, I'm a human."

Eden: "Why did you say yes? Maybe I'm a demon."

Naomi hesitated, then shrugged.

Naomi: "Because I trust you."

Eden's expression grew serious.

Eden: "Listen, we're in the Underworld. It's not our world. You can't trust anybody easily here. I'm not saying it's wrong to trust, but you need to find the right person to trust. You're not a young kid anymore."

Eden sat back down, his frustration giving way to exhaustion.

Eden: "I can't understand how you survived alone out there."

Naomi's face fell, his voice quiet.

Naomi: "I wasn't alone."

Eden looked up, surprised.

Eden: "What do you mean?"

Don't tell me he met some good demons.

Naomi: "An old woman. I met an old woman out there. Her name was Koka. She protected me and let me stay in her house. But I was an idiot and didn't listen to her."

Naomi sat down, his face filled with regret.

Naomi: "I wish I hadn't left Koka's house."

Eden studied Naomi's face, seeing the sadness and regret in his eyes. He remembered King Draco's words to him when he was in the castle.

Being a normal human doesn't mean you're not a hero.

Eden smiled faintly.

Eden: "She's a human, right?"

Naomi: "Yes."

Naomi tried to control himself, but his voice wavered.

Eden: "You were going to cry, weren't you?"

Naomi: "I'm not sure."

So you're still a young kid inside? I envy you. You can improve yourself and change, but I'll stay like this forever.

Eden's expression softened, and he placed a hand on Naomi's shoulder.

Eden: "I'll help you."

Naomi: "Really?"

Eden: "Yes. We're friends now. We're in this together."

Eden smiled, extending his hand.

Eden: "My name is Salizard Eden."

Naomi hesitated, then shook Eden's hand.

Naomi: "My name is Fudokawa Naomi."

Fudokawa? Naomi? The only one who knows that name is...

Eden's smile widened.

Eden: "I'll try to do something."

Eden stood in front of the cell door, his hand resting on the cold stone. He closed his eyes, focusing his energy.

I have to concentrate.

Eden: "Fire."

He tried to summon a flame, but instead, the walls of the cell began to glow with a scarlet light. Eden's eyes snapped open, and he stepped back in surprise.

Eden: "What's happening? I was able to use it before."

A low, rumbling laugh echoed from the cell across from them. They turned to see a tall, blue-furred werewolf with violet eyes sitting casually on the floor. He wore a tattered brown jacket, and his expression was one of amusement.

Okami: "Nothing is impossible in the Underworld, humans."

Eden: "A werewolf?"

Naomi: "That's impossible."

Okami: "Is it? You're in a cell made of Cobaltos stone. It feeds on magic. The stronger your magic, the brighter the walls glow. Scarlet, huh? That's the color of the legendary rank S. Who are you, human?"

Eden's eyes narrowed.

Eden: "Who are you?"

Okami: "Kuzuri Okami. And you two? Fudokawa Naomi and...?"

Eden and Naomi exchanged a glance, their hearts racing.

How does he know my name?

He knows. But how?

Eden: "Why are you here?"

Okami: "Same reason as you. They caught me. Did you see any other humans here?"

Eden's expression darkened.

Why is he interested in humans?

Eden: "No, we didn't."

Naomi: "Do you know why our cell's walls are shining?"

Okami: "Cobaltos stone feeds on magic. The color changes based on the power of the magic used. Scarlet is the highest rank—legendary. So, who are you, human?"

Eden's jaw tightened.

Eden: "We're just trying to survive."

Okami: "Survive? In this place? Good luck with that."

The werewolf leaned back, his violet eyes glinting with amusement.

Okami: "This is a secret illegal fight club. They kidnap creatures like us and force us to fight. If you win, maybe you'll get out. If you lose... well, let's just say you won't have to worry about anything anymore."

Naomi's face paled.

Naomi: "We're in trouble."

Eden's expression hardened.

Eden: "Don't worry. I'll protect you."

As night fell, Naomi and Eden lay on the cold floor of their cell, their bodies exhausted but their minds restless. Across from them, Okami watched, his violet eyes gleaming in the dim light.

You can't lie to me, humans. I already know which of you is Naomi.
