Chapter 42: Unfinished Business
The drone hummed through the night sky, carrying Raizen and the silver-haired woman far above the chaos below. The wind rushed past them, but neither spoke—both were processing the night's events in silence.
As the drone approached a safehouse Ayaka had secured, Raizen finally turned to the woman. "You got a name?"
She hesitated before answering. "Liana."
Raizen nodded. Liana. The name felt significant, but he didn't press her further. Instead, he focused on the safehouse as they descended onto a reinforced balcony.
The moment they landed, Ayaka was already waiting, arms crossed. "You really know how to make things complicated."
Raizen smirked. "It's a talent."
Ayaka's eyes flickered toward Liana, assessing her. "You're lucky we got you out. House Valen doesn't take prisoners lightly."
Liana crossed her arms. "I wasn't a prisoner. I was an experiment."
Raizen's expression hardened. An experiment?
The system pulsed.

Liana met his gaze. "I don't know why you helped me, but if you're against House Valen, we might have a common enemy."
Raizen chuckled. "Good. Because I'm not done with them yet."
Ayaka sighed. "You're really going to start a war, aren't you?"
Raizen glanced out at the city lights, a determined glint in his eyes. "War was inevitable. I'm just making sure I'm the one who wins it."
Liana's lips curled into a small smirk. "Then I guess I'm in the right place."
House Valen had made a mistake. And Raizen planned to make them regret it.
