The Eternal Dao Sect: Legacy of Chaos

Chapter 23: Chapter 20: The Gathering Of The Storm

The joy of their return to the Silvermoon Clan was short-lived, as dread overcame it-the realization of what lay ahead seeping in. Gone were the laughter and jest that once filled the halls of the Silvermoon stronghold; faces were grim. In silence, silent warriors sharpened their weapons, while elders spoke of omens and prophecies in hushed tones.

There was to be no rest for Jayson and his companions. Blightwood Forest had been but a taste of what the Mellians could do. This was no rumor, no threat from across the seas. The alien invaders were here and their plots of destruction already in motion.

A Council in Chaos

It was a grand hall, full and packed with delegates in the clan of Silvermoon-major clans all around. Seldom in times past would leaders who had never shared space together sit in one room in history, and there was tension-Weighted centuries of rivalries, thickening of air.

Standing as tall as his years could carry him at the front of the room was the patriarch of the Silvermoon Clan: Elder Arthus. His voice cut through murmurs like a blade. "Enough," he said firmly. "We are here to address the Mellian threat, not to bicker over old grudges. This is not a Silvermoon matter alone. This is a matter of survival."

Elder Faron of the Ironpeak Clan crossed his arms, his expression skeptical. "Survival? From what, exactly? Stories of aliens and monsters? We've fought worse threats before and survived."

Jayson stepped forward, his Chaos Sword strapped to his back. His presence demanded attention, and his voice rumbled with the weight of recent battles. "These are not just stories, Elder Faron. The Mellians are real. We've fought them, and we barely survived. Continue to dismiss this, and your clan won't have even the chance to fight back when they arrive."

Diane followed, her voice firm and laced with determination. "This is not about one clan or one fight. The Mellians don't care about our rivalries. They'll destroy us all if we don't unite."

The room was silent. In the gravity of their words, there was no doubt, but where old habits died hard.

Old Rivalries Resurface

Yet even then, the clan leaders remained undecided. A middle-aged man representing the Styles Clan spoke with acuteness in his eyes, "Why are we supposed to follow the Eternal Dao Sect's lead? Strong, yes, but that doesn't guarantee victory."

Mike bristled at the jab and clutched his fists. Cindy placed a soothing hand on his arm and whispered, "Not now."

Most always the stoic type, Joyner strode forward. "Doubt us, test us. Repeatedly has proved the strength in times past. If it needs proving once again that it will.

Elder Arthus raised his hand. "A challenge, then. If the Eternal Dao Sect can defeat the warriors we send against them, the clans will unite under their banner. If not…" He left the words hanging-the unspoken threat crystal clear.

Determined gazes were exchanged among those gathered; it was their chance to prove themselves, not to just the clans, but to the world.

Trials at Hand

The next morning, the grand arena of the Silvermoon Clan was packed with energy. All types of clan warriors were ready and waiting in an attempt to try the mettle of the Eternal Dao Sect.

First into the arena came a hulking brute from the Ironpeak Clan, wielding a hammer that seemed less hammer and more 'boulder on a stick'. With shield and axe shining in the sunlight, Victor stepped to meet him. It was brutal, pugilistic, an earth-shaking slogging match; Victor's steady defence and precise counter-attacks won through. Cheers filled the air as Victor stood over his unconscious opponent.

Next in line was an athletic, elfin swordswoman flowing into her movements from the Shadowveil Clan. Diane stepped forward, her blade flashing like silver lightning. Her duel was a deadly ballet, her every stroke precise and counterbalanced. By technique and speed, Diane had the upper hand, leaving her opponent out of breath and disarmed.

The last obstacle was a pair from the Styles Clan-a clan of formation masters. Their joint attacks were full of illusions and traps, something that would send any ordinary opponent into a crazy nightmare. However, Jayson and Mike stood forward shoulder to shoulder and began to break through their interlocking formation. Jayson's Chaos Sword cleaved into the illusions while Mike's spear disrupted the traps with pinpoint accuracy. The perfect synchronization overwhelmed the opponents.

At the end of the day, the Eternal Dao Sect still remained undefeated. The field roared with applause as the clans were forced to back down before the power of the group.

A Dire Vision

When night fell and they lay resting, Jayson had a really weird dream. He was standing in some kind of waste land; above him, the sky was dark, churning with clouds. A gigantic figure loomed in the distance-a Mellian unlike any they had seen. Its metallic body shone with an eerie shine as its voice reverberated in Jayson's mind.

"You think you can stop us?" it said, its voice mocking. "Your world will fall to your knees and you will kneel."

Jayson awoke with a jolt, his heart racing. He looked around at the darkened room; his friends slept soundly. It felt so real that he could not simply shrug it off. Was this a warning? A sight of things to come?

Forging the Alliance

The next morning, Jayson held a meeting with his friends. "The clans are with us now, but that's just the beginning. The Mellians are stronger than we thought, and it's time to prepare for war."

Joyner nodded, his expression grave. "We have faced impossible odds before. This time won't be any different."

Diane laid a reassuring hand on Jayson's shoulder. "We'll protect this world, no matter the cost."

Mike, ever brash, grinned. "And if anyone gets in our way, we'll show them why the Eternal Dao Sect is destined to be the greatest."

Cindy smiled faintly, her calm demeanor a stark contrast to the mounting tension. "We'll do what we have to, together.

As all of them stood together, the atmosphere in the room was filled with unification. The storm was arriving, but they were ready to face it-not as scattered warriors, but as the Eternal Dao Sect that protected their world.
