The Eternal Dao Sect: Legacy of Chaos

Chapter 28: Chapter 25 : The Awakening Storm

The Eternal Dao Sect was one of resilience and unity, but the serenity of their preparation slowly began to unravel. The world's vastness seemed overwhelming, and the silhouettes of the Dark Apostles spread noiselessly, influencing all realms everywhere. The Mellians, who were once believed to be the ultimate evil, were merely a prelude compared to the darker and sinister chapter.

In the five years that had passed, the members of the Eternal Dao Sect had grown into mighty warriors, scholars, and leaders. Their power was extraordinary, but with great power came a heavier burden. The bonds they had formed over the years were about to be tested as an ancient presence began to stir in the void beyond their world.

An Unexpected Vision

Jayson stood at the top of the Celestial Peak, the highest point within the sect. The view was stunning: the rolling clouds below him and the endless stretch of the sect's territories into the horizon. His Chaos Sword leaned against a boulder; its dark blade glinted under the moonlight. Yet, the serene view offered little solace to his restless mind.

The air felt heavier tonight, ominous. He closed his eyes to meditate and concentrate his Dao. Over the past five years, he had learned clarity. But as he started to relax his breathing, a wave crashed over him in unwanted, overpowering fashion.

His body tensed, his breath caught in his throat, and his mind was yanked into a vision.

Jayson stood on a desolate battlefield, the bodies of Mellians and humans alike littering the blood-soaked ground. The sky above was a blood-red color, swirling with storm clouds. Then, from the shadows, a towering entity cloaked in dark energy emerged. Barely could the form be distinguished, but the presence was suffocating.

"You think you've won?" it said, the voice low and guttural, echoing directly inside Jayson's head. "The Mellians were but a distraction, a test for our true creations. Your world will burn as others have before it. Prepare yourself, little mortal, as the Dark Apostles are near."

Jayson puffed as the sight ended and water dripped over his face, and then, he stumbled backwards clutching at his hilt and steadied himself on Chaos Sword. From serene to this oppressive night again.

This was not simply a dream, nor an illusion-this was more of a warning.

Sect Prepares

Jayson didn't waste any time; he summoned the core members of the sect. The group sat in the great hall of the Eternal Dao Sect. Serious expressions donned their faces as Jayson began to tell his vision. Each of them now showed testament to their growth: Joyner's aura was sharp and relentless; Diane showed command and wisdom oozing from her pores; Mike's spear technique showed overwhelming precision; Cindy was a newer, even greater formative master.

Jayson's voice was heavy as he spoke: "The vision I saw was not some arbitrary one. The Mellians were just pawns. The true enemies are the Dark Apostles, and they're far more powerful than we had thought."

Diane frowned harder with her eyes squinting further. "The Mellians almost annihilated us, and the Dark Apostles are much stronger. How are we going to be able to stop them?"

Joyner crossed his arms over his chest, his face resolute. "We've made it this far because we refused to give up, no matter the odds. If they think we're going to roll over and surrender, they have no idea who they're dealing with."

Cindy nodded in agreement. "Our strength lies in our unity. We've all grown in these five years. We've faced death and come out stronger every time. This won't be any different."

Mike smiled, dripping with oozing confidence as always. "Besides, it's about time we show the world just how strong the Eternal Dao Sect has become."

All set and ready, their resolution was strong, but ahead of them was a storm brewing.

---

Suddenly Attacked

Their discussion was cut short by the sound of an explosion. The ground beneath them trembled, and the distant sound of screams filled the air. A messenger stumbled into the hall, bloodied and frantic.

"Patriarch Jayson!" the man cried. "An unknown force has attacked the outer villages. They're not Mellians, but their power is overwhelming. We're barely holding them off!"

Jayson and his friends looked into one another's grim eyes, the time for preparation was over.

---

Dawn Battle

They hastened toward the battle lines in the front, where chaos had already broken out. The attackers were humanlike but with metallic skin and glowing red eyes. Movement-precise, almost mechanical-and strength that inspired terror.

Jayson's Chaos Sword roared to life as he leaped into the fray, cutting through the enemy with deadly precision. Diane coordinated the defense, her commands ensuring that their forces would not falter. Joyner and Victor fought in pairs, pushing back against specific points.

Mike and Cindy fought in tandem, dispersing enemy formations with ease. Mike's spear ripped through their ranks, while Cindy's barriers covered their allies.

The battle was far from easy despite their efforts; it seemed the enemy came out of nowhere, and resilience among warriors standing before them was nothing like what they had ever seen.

---

A Glimpse of the Truth

A feeling of familiarity washed over Jayson, an unmistakable energy in the air-faint, but present, a Dark Apostle. He continued to scan the battlefield until his eyes fell upon a figure that stood atop a hill off in the distance.

His form was draped in dark energy, almost indistinguishable. It didn't look like it was going to join the battle and simply watched its creations take their toll.

Jayson's hand tightened around the hilt of his sword. He knew this wasn't going to be anything more than a test, a probe into their power. If the Dark Apostles thought this would daunt the Eternal Dao Sect, they had another thing coming.

---

The Aftermath

When the battle finally ended, the sect's forces were battered but victorious. The attackers had retreated, leaving behind nothing but destruction.

Jayson stood amidst the ruins, his friends gathering around him. "This was just a test," he said grimly. "The real battle is still ahead of us."

Diane placed a hand on his shoulder. "Then we'll be ready. Together, we'll face whatever comes our way."

Mike smirked. "And we'll make them regret ever underestimating us."

As the first rays of dawn broke through the darkness, Jayson looked out at the horizon. The storm was coming, but they would not falter. The Eternal Dao Sect would stand as the last line of defense for their world, no matter the cost.
