The Fall Of A Chaste Soul

Chapter 9: Blood For Gold

A War with No Rules

Sophia stood in the dimly lit penthouse, her fingers gripping the bloodstained note that had been pinned to her dead soldier's chest. The scent of death lingered in the air, thick and suffocating. She took a slow breath, her mind already calculating her next move.

Khalid and Adrik entered the room, their expressions dark.

"Lorenzo moves fast," Khalid muttered, eyeing the corpse. "He's already sending a message."

Sophia dropped the note onto the table and poured herself a drink.

"Then we send one back."

Adrik grinned, cracking his knuckles. "I was hoping you'd say that."

Retaliation

Sophia knew Lorenzo wouldn't stop at a warning. He was testing her, waiting to see if she would fold under pressure.

She wasn't going to fold.

She was going to burn his empire from the inside out.

Step one: Take his allies.

Lorenzo controlled ports in Colombia, Serbia, and Thailand, funneling illegal arms, drugs, and gold. But those ports weren't run by him directly—they were controlled by local warlords and corrupt officials.

Sophia's plan was simple: Make them turn against him.

The Colombian Betrayal

Her first target was Ricardo Valdez, the cartel boss who oversaw Lorenzo's drug shipments in South America.

He was dangerous but greedy.

Sophia arranged a meeting in Medellín, Colombia, deep inside Ricardo's heavily guarded mansion.

She arrived alone, dressed in a sleek black gown, her eyes cold but inviting.

Ricardo leaned back in his chair, his cigar trailing smoke. "I heard you're making a mess in my partner's empire."

Sophia smiled. "I prefer to call it… redistribution."

Ricardo chuckled. "And what makes you think I'd betray Lorenzo De Luca?"

Sophia leaned forward. "Because I know what you really want. You don't want to be his puppet. You want to be king."

A flicker of interest crossed Ricardo's face.

She slid a USB drive across the table.

"These are Lorenzo's private financial records. Every offshore account, every hidden asset. If you take him down now, his empire becomes yours."

Ricardo's gaze flickered to the USB. His greed was practically dripping from his face.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Sophia."

She smirked. "I always do."

That night, Ricardo's men massacred Lorenzo's soldiers at the Medellín docks, hijacking an entire shipment of drugs and gold.

It was the first major betrayal in Lorenzo's empire.

And Sophia was just getting started.

Lorenzo Strikes Back

Sophia knew Lorenzo wouldn't take the loss lightly.

Within twenty-four hours, Ricardo Valdez was found hanging from a bridge—his body torn apart by gunfire.

Lorenzo sent a video message directly to Sophia's phone.

His voice was calm, but his eyes burned with fury.

"You want to play war, Sophia? Fine. But war isn't won with money. It's won with blood. And I have more blood to spill than you can imagine."

She deleted the message, unbothered.

He was trying to scare her.

But she wasn't the type to be scared.

She was the type to make monsters bleed.

The Next Target – Serbia

Lorenzo's next biggest ally was Viktor Dragovic, a Serbian arms dealer who controlled an entire network of illegal weapons smuggling.

If Sophia could turn Viktor, she would cut Lorenzo's access to firepower.

But this time, she knew Lorenzo would be expecting her.

So she didn't go through the front door.

She sent a message to Viktor through an anonymous channel.

"Lorenzo will kill you next. Choose wisely."

Then, she hacked his private security system and sent him live footage of his own guards standing outside his mansion.

One by one, her sniper silently executed them.

POW.

POW.

POW.

By the time Viktor realized what was happening, his entire personal security team was dead.

Sophia called him directly.

"You're defenseless, Viktor. Lorenzo can't protect you."

There was silence on the other end of the call. Then, Viktor sighed.

"What do you want?"

Sophia smiled. "Loyalty."

The Endgame Begins

With Serbia and Colombia flipped, Sophia had crippled two major pillars of Lorenzo's empire.

But she knew he wouldn't just sit back and take the hits.

He was going to retaliate.

And this time, it wouldn't just be a warning.

It would be an all-out war.

Sophia looked out over the Dubai skyline, her mind sharp, her body ready for battle.

She had taken on the biggest crime lord in the world.

And she wasn't done yet.

Lorenzo's Counterattack

Lorenzo De Luca had spent decades building an empire out of blood and fear.

He wasn't going to let a single woman—no matter how smart or ruthless—tear it down.

Sophia had taken his money. She had stolen his allies. She had humiliated him.

Now, it was his turn.

A Storm Over Dubai

Sophia was sitting in Khalid's estate in Dubai when the first attack happened.

It started with a blackout.

The entire estate lost power, throwing the mansion into darkness.

Adrik immediately grabbed his gun, while Khalid's security teams activated emergency protocols.

Then the gunfire started.

RATATATATATA!

Sophia barely had time to react as bullets shredded through the windows, taking out guards instantly.

Khalid pulled her down behind cover, his face tense.

"It's Lorenzo."

Sophia cursed under her breath. She had expected a counterattack—but not this soon.

Escape Plan

They were outnumbered and outgunned.

Lorenzo had sent an entire hit squad.

Sophia, Khalid, and Adrik moved fast, weaving through the gunfire, taking out enemies as they went.

BANG!

Sophia shot a masked assassin in the chest.

BANG!

Adrik slit another's throat before grabbing Sophia's hand and pulling her toward the back exit.

Khalid's men were already dead or dying. They had minutes—maybe seconds—before the hit squad reached them.

"There's a car in the back," Khalid shouted. "We move now!"

They sprinted toward the garage, bullets whizzing past their heads.

Just as they reached the armored SUV, an explosion rocked the mansion.

The force of it sent Sophia flying.

Everything went black.

Captured

When Sophia woke up, her wrists were tied.

Her head throbbed. Her vision was blurry.

She was in a dark, cold room. A warehouse, maybe.

And standing in front of her…

Was Lorenzo De Luca.

He was dressed in a sharp black suit, his silver hair slicked back. His face was calm, but his eyes burned with murderous intent.

"You've been a very bad girl, Sophia."

She didn't respond. She just stared at him, her mind already working out how to escape.

Lorenzo sighed. "You took my money. You stole my allies. And you thought there wouldn't be consequences?"

He crouched beside her, his fingers tracing along the edge of a knife.

"Tell me, Sophia… how should I punish you?"

Sophia smirked, despite the pain in her ribs.

"Oh, please. If you were going to kill me, I'd be dead already."

Lorenzo chuckled. "Smart girl. But death is too easy. I have something better planned for you."

Sophia's blood ran cold.

What the hell was he planning?

Khalid and Adrik's Hunt

Khalid and Adrik had barely escaped the attack on the estate.

Now, they were in full revenge mode.

Khalid slammed his fist on the table, rage burning in his eyes. "Lorenzo took her. That bastard took her."

Adrik was already loading his weapons. "Then we get her back."

But this wasn't going to be a simple rescue.

Lorenzo had Sophia in his territory now.

They would have to fight through hell to get her back.

And they were ready for war.
