Chapter 396: Chapter 395: Learning Too Much from a Player
Leading the way, Pei Guang located another gathering of Antimatter Legion Voidrangers. When they arrived, he turned to Kevin and said, "Alright! Watch closely and learn well! That Judgment of Shamash of yours is strong, but that technique is only good for dueling—it's not suited for team combat. This time, I'll show you what a proper team operation looks like!"
Stelle pulled out her bat. "I'm all set! But what's our approach this time—stealth ambush, full charge, or do you wanna take the aggro, Ah Guang?"
Pei Guang pondered. "There aren't any detailed quest instructions, so I'm not sure what actually counts as completing the mission. Let's try all three. If that doesn't work, we'll just shove him in a sack and beat him up."
March 7th: "That's a great idea! I've thought about doing that before, but Dan Heng and Uncle Yang definitely wouldn't allow it. Ah Guang, you're the best! We get to do whatever we want."
Stelle raised her bat toward the sky. "Perfect! Our Trailblazer squad is launching another assault on a powerful foe. Galactic Baseballer, ready for battle!"
Pei Guang: "Galactic Swordsman, ready for battle!"
March 7th: "Galactic Archer, ready for battle!"
In unison: "Let's go!"
Kevin: "…"
The two who had been keeping a low profile, Vill-V and Fu Hua, remained silent. The entire time, they had just been observing quietly, not wanting to draw attention to themselves—because these three were acting way too embarrassing.
But Pei Guang and the others didn't care at all.
For elementary school kids, this kind of behavior might be cringe, but for them as Trailblazers, it was just right!
Pei Guang had a good impression of people like Kevin, but as an NPC who issued a quest, if Kevin ever caused him trouble, he wouldn't mind beating him up a little. After all, Pei Guang had been looking for an opportunity to rough up an NPC.
So far, every main story NPC he'd met—except for Cocolia, the boss character—had been nothing but pleasant.
Asta, Oleg, Natasha, Seele, Svarog, and everyone he met on the Xianzhou… they were all so friendly that Pei Guang even wondered if he had some kind of innate high favorability trait.
In a way, his guess wasn't wrong: as a Trailblazer, he was naturally well-received across the universe. Plus, he always did things for people before making demands, and his actions had left a very good impression on those he encountered.
At the very least, before Pei Guang arrived, no one had managed to drive through the Overworld delivering supplies and messages from families to the Underworld.
No one else had reversed the effects of Mara and restored Cloud Knights who should have been doomed to suffer and die.
To Pei Guang, these were just simple things. But to those he helped, they were acts of salvation.
As long as those people had even a shred of basic human decency, they could never harbor any resentment toward Pei Guang.
Kevin observed carefully—until he saw something that left him speechless.
Right before his eyes, Pei Guang, Stelle, and March 7th crouched down and snuck into the group of Voidrangers, using the same tactics they had when they first infiltrated the city.
One by one, each of them took out a Voidranger with ease.
The trio's attacks quickly drew the attention of more Voidrangers; in response, Pei Guang raised his middle finger and activated his taunt ability.
Meanwhile, Stelle and March 7th expertly pulled out a trash can and jumped inside. The Voidrangers, completely fixated on Pei Guang due to his taunt, ignored the two entirely, allowing them to successfully conceal themselves within the trash can.
What followed was an all-too-familiar battle sequence for Kevin. However, compared to the time he had seen them capture Voidrangers before, this time, he witnessed what true efficiency looked like.
Pei Guang gathered the aggro of an entire group of Voidrangers, leading them to charge at him while completely ignoring Stelle and March 7th inside the trash can.
As the Voidrangers passed by, the two hidden inside suddenly leaped out. One swiftly nocked an arrow and fired, instantly freezing all enemies in place, while the other swung a bat and methodically struck them down one by one.
However, Stelle wasn't simply smashing them apart—she specifically targeted the frozen heads, knocking them clean off. Vill-V and Fu Hua looked on in confusion, but Kevin felt something else entirely—he was witnessing the sheer strength of Pei Guang's team firsthand.
Kevin was no stranger to the power of Voidrangers. Without the Xianzhou weaponry Pei Guang had supplied, even elite soldiers would struggle to seriously wound them. Yet March 7th was effortlessly freezing them in place, and Stelle was knocking their heads off without shattering the rest of their frozen bodies.
One person could taunt Voidrangers without fail. Another could freeze an entire group with ease. And one more had absolute control over their strikes, ensuring every hit was precise and clean.
As he processed all this, what happened next completely disrupted his train of thought.
After eliminating the Voidrangers, Pei Guang and his team gathered in front of the frozen severed heads, played music, and started dancing.
Kevin was utterly speechless.
The scene unfolding before him shattered his understanding of combat.
But soon, a glint of realization appeared in his eyes.
He knew he wasn't the smartest person. Since he wasn't naturally gifted, he just had to learn. Pei Guang and his companions were demonstrating an effective way to fight the Legion, so all he had to do was take notes.
From the very start of the fight, to the ambush, to the head collection, the arrangement, and even the post-battle dancing—Kevin memorized everything.
Worried he might forget any details, he even activated his recording device to capture the entire scene.
When Pei Guang and his team finally wrapped up their unconventional battle and returned, Kevin applauded them. "This battle has taught me a lot. I think… I finally understand how to fight the Voidrangers."
Pei Guang: "As long as you understand. But remember, copying me exactly will only lead to failure. Don't just mimic our fighting style blindly—analyze it and find a method that suits you best."
Kevin: "I have one question—why do you need to enter the trash can?"
Pei Guang: "If you enter the trash can out of sight of the enemy, those who lack the intelligence to process it won't be able to detect you inside."
Kevin: "Then how do you attract the enemy's attention? Is simply raising a middle finger enough?"
Pei Guang: "Ah, that's a skill. If you want, I can teach you one, but you can only learn one skill from me."
Kevin: "I see. Then why do you collect their heads and dance behind them?"
Pei Guang: "Just remember one phrase—'Blood for the Aeons, skulls for the Skull Throne.' You never know which Aeon might have a grudge against the Aeon of Destruction. If you offer these heads as tribute, you might just get their attention."
Kevin: "I understand now!"
This time, Kevin truly had an epiphany. He realized that observing the battle tactics of the strong was immensely beneficial to him.
Judgment of Shamash was indeed powerful, but its overwhelming strength left him feeling somewhat lost. In contrast, Pei Guang's approach seemed practical, something he could actually learn.
As for singing and dancing after the battle, he took note of that too. However, he had no intention of offering skulls to the Aeons—he wanted to dedicate the heads of the Antimatter Legion's Voidrangers to someone far greater: the great leader of Earth, the savior of humanity, and his greatest supporter—Pei Guang.
But Kevin also understood that he needed teammates. After all, Pei Guang's tactics required a three-person team. So, his gaze naturally shifted toward Vill-V and Fu Hua, who had been silent the entire time.
The moment Kevin turned his eyes toward them, Vill-V immediately sensed danger and spoke up first: "Ahem, I have a lot of work to do—I won't be able to help you."
Fu Hua, on the other hand, wanted to say something, but she remained silent. As a soldier of lower rank than Kevin, she had no authority to refuse if he ordered her to do something. More importantly… after witnessing this battle style, a thought had surfaced in her mind.
If this method was effective, she wouldn't mind using it. Because her family, her friends… had all died in the invasion of the Voidrangers.
The soldiers of Fire Moth followed Pei Guang not only because he could save the planet and humanity, but because he was the only one who could truly kill Voidrangers. As long as they could wipe out those bastards, they were willing to do anything.
Meanwhile, March 7th watched the two of them deep in thought and immediately realized one thing—these two were already falling into Pei Guang's way of thinking.
Was Pei Guang's strategy effective? She didn't know how well it would work for others, but if Pei Guang said it would, then it definitely would. The real question was… was this method too advanced for Earth's people?
Looking at Kevin and Hua's expressions, it was obvious—they had completely absorbed Pei Guang's tactics!
