The Giant Corporations that Started in Night City

Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Fall of the Titan!

Chapter 83: Fall of the Titan!

"Drop your weapons! Or you'll be executed on the spot..."

Before the AST power armor captain in the front line could finish his threat, Adam Sledgehammer raised his "Oni-Class Automatic Shotgun" and fired at the man.

Boom!!

An AST power armor operator staggered backward under the impact. While the suit didn't sustain fatal damage, the pilot inside was almost knocked unconscious by the shock.

Seeing Adam Sledgehammer take the lead in attacking, Mann immediately ordered to open fire. Almost instantly, LA Corporation's mercenaries unleashed a storm of metal bullets at Adam Sledgehammer.

However, the alloy shell of the Oni-class power armor practically ignored the standard kinetic bullets. Adam Sledgehammer, braving the barrage of dense gunfire, quickly closed in on Reed

"Die!"

Adam Sledgehammer raised his massive steel arm, striking with overwhelming force. Driven by the primal instinct for survival, Reed mustered all his strength and rolled away just in time.

Boom!

A dull thud echoed as a massive crater appeared where Reed had just been. Missing the target only infuriated Adam Sledgehammer further.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The AST power armor squad was pouring out firepower in a frenzy. But since the battle was in an urban area, their suits lacked heavy weaponry like coaxial grenade launchers or missile pods.

Armed only with 7.62mm rotary machine guns, the AST suits could easily handle regular mercenaries, but against Adam Sledgehammer's Oni-class power armor, they were almost useless.

As the bullet rain slammed into the armor, external scanners transmitted all impact feedback directly to Adam Sledgehammer's brain via neural conduits. The sheer pain and fury drowned out any trace of rationality in his mind.

The Oni-class power armor wasn't designed for regular mercenaries. It was built specifically for cybernetic soldiers like Adam Sledgehammer, whose body was 90% cybernetically augmented.

Because of this, the Oni-class power armor lacked features like vitals monitoring or drug injection systems. Instead, all resources were invested in control responsiveness, offense, and defense.

The benefit? Operators could achieve seamless control over the armor.

The drawback? For most users, this armor was essentially "single-use."

This was a power armor born purely for battle—its designers never cared whether the operator lived or died.

"Argh! I'll kill you all!!"

Adam Sledgehammer's pain editor had overloaded to its limit, and the relentless feedback turned his neurons hyperactive. Driven mad by agony, he wanted nothing more than to slaughter everyone around him.

Shing!

He drew the massive power sword embedded in the spine of his armor and began cleaving through the AST squad. Each swing against a suit's surface was so forceful that some operators passed out from the shock.

When this scene was transmitted to President Myers by Li Ang, it left the military tech's weapons researchers and scientists utterly speechless.

Such a nimble, high-tonnage power armor—if Arasaka Corporation deployed it on a large scale, New America's soldiers would be shredded like vegetables!

Given Arasaka's immense resources, mass-producing super-soldiers like Adam Sledgehammer was well within their capability—something Militech couldn't match.

[Adam Sledgehammer! Stand down this instant! Do you hear me?!]

Arasaka Raishun's warning blared in Adam's earpiece, but his mind, lost to bloodlust, was beyond reason. He wanted nothing but to bathe the battlefield in rivers of blood.

As Adam "Heavy Hammer" cleaved down an AST member and prepared to strike another, two Vargas-class armed helicopters suddenly appeared above his head.

Suspended beneath the helicopters were Ronin Titans, fully armed mechas. At the moment the reinforcements arrived, the surrounding AST power armor squads immediately retreated, creating enough space for the Titans to make their landing.

"What in the world is that?!"

In the command center of the Joint Intelligence Agency, President Myers widened his eyes, staring intently at the towering, three-story-tall heavy combat mechas.

"Is this LA Corporation's so-called 'power armor'? That's no power armor—that's a steel monstrosity!"

An engineer from Meta Group standing nearby was in utter disbelief, unable to fathom how any company could create a power armor unit of such magnitude.

In reality, LA Corporation's Ronin Titans had long surpassed the concept of conventional power armor. These were unparalleled, manned heavy combat mechas in the cyber world!

The conflict at Azure Tower had escalated into a technological duel between LA Corporation and Arasaka Corporation, with both sides deploying their most advanced mecha technologies.

As for Meta Group's power armor units? They were nothing more than heaps of scrap metal on the battlefield—charred into blackened husks or crushed into dust.

[Target location reached. Titan Fall, ready! 3, 2, 1!]

With the helicopter pilot's countdown complete, the cables suspending the Ronin Titans were automatically severed. The massive mechas crashed to the ground with a deafening thud, leaving deep craters in the surface.

Power armor squads and heavy mecha units often arrived on the battlefield by dropping from above, delivering a punishing "weight strike" to the enemy.

This time was no exception.

Boom!

As Adam "Heavy Hammer" dodged to the side, he finally got a clear view of the towering heavy mecha before him, standing two or three meters taller than himself. Yet, instead of feeling fear, his blood boiled with an irrepressible fervor.

Bang!

Adam "Heavy Hammer" struck first, but before he could even approach the Ronin Titan, 2B—its pilot—fired a scattershot round from a shotgun, shattering parts of Adam's armor.

[Warning! System integrity at 13%!]

Ignoring the alerts from his power armor system, Adam gripped his greatsword tightly and charged at the Ronin Titan, aiming for its vulnerable legs.

However, before he could close the distance, another shotgun blast struck him head-on. Then, the Ronin Titan unleashed an electronic smoke screen, causing localized malfunctions in Adam's power armor.

Amid the thick gray smoke, illuminated by sporadic sparks of electricity, Adam struggled to locate the Ronin Titan. All he could hear was a cold, mechanical voice:

[Sword Core Connected!]

As the prompt ended, a piercing sound of a blade slicing through the air resonated, followed by 2B's icy gaze locking onto Adam.

The next moment, the Ronin Titan's colossal sword smashed into Adam, sending him flying like a baseball hit for a home run. The immense force of the Titan's blade sliced through Adam's power armor as easily as a hot knife through butter, cutting it cleanly in half.

The entire clash lasted less than 20 seconds.

[Critical Damage! System Integrity at 99%!]

At that moment, a deluge of system warnings flooded Adam's display like a torrential downpour, drowning his vision with a cascade of error messages.

Simultaneously, the severe damage to his power armor triggered a wave of sensory feedback, sending bioelectric currents surging through Adam's cerebral cortex.
