Chapter 459: Race Of Death (3).
The car in the sixth position was forced to reverse after clearing the ice obstructing their truck's tires.
They had lost momentum, and attempting to drive off the cliff in that state would be nothing short of suicidal, so they have to start building momentum all over again.
Meanwhile, Alec's truck finally landed on the other side of the racetrack.
He shifted the gear and accelerated, noticing an indicator map displayed by the panel attached to his right eye, showing that he was close to the fifth position truck, that he was determined to catch up to.
To Alec, everything felt like a car race game, not only were the cars equipped with attacking fixtures, but he could also see a map displaying his position and those ahead of him in red lights.
He knew he was just a few hundred meters away from reaching the fifth position truck, and he could now see truck behind.
As they came into sight of the fifth position, Alec noticed mages at the back holding orbs filled with mana, wearing evil smiles.
He quickly turned the steering, diverting the truck towards the right walls, planning to drive through them.
Although he didn't know what the orbs contained, but he was determined to avoid them at all costs. Anything thrown felt like a potential bomb to him.
[> Activate Spider puppet legs!]
Alec felt an indescribable connection with the truck, considering it an extension of his own body, which granted him an intuitive understanding of its effective workings.
In that moment, he pictured only a spider was capable of effortlessly weaving through walls, and since the Truck resonating with Beatrice's infusion of Mana into the gas-controlling Orb.
Along with the truck's assimilating a portion of her Mana, Alec could harness certain abilities related to her and recreate her spells in a manner tailored to racing.
It was as if the car acted as a conduit for spellcasting, compensating for Alec's team inability to directly cast spells.
The driver, in this case, held the power to choose which spell manifested from the absorbed Mana, meanwhile, the rest of the team simply needed to infuse Mana into any Mana-compatible objects in the truck.
As the Truck operated on Mana, the more they utilized it, the more it harmonized with their individual abilities.
As the orbs landed on the ground, Alec expected a fiery explosion, however, to his surprise, they instead sprouted into towering vines that obstructed the road. Fortunately, the vines narrowly missed Alec's truck, thanks to eight wooden legs that emerged from beneath the vehicle.
Eager to outpace the hindrance, Alec skillfully maneuvered the car, utilizing the walls' edges.
The wooden legs served as a stabilizing force, preventing the monster truck from succumbing to the entangling vines or losing its balance as it navigated through the walls.
Alec quickly got back to the road's surface after passing the plant blockage place, shifting gears into the powerful fifth gear, commonly known as the override gear. The truck's engine grew louder as it accelerated, propelling Alec closer to the coveted fifth position.
" Alec, I'm losing Mana at an alarming rate, and I won't be able to keep up with the consumption, I'll soon be out of Mana," Beatrice voiced her concern, causing Alec to grit his teeth, maintaining top speed relied on constantly replenishing the Orb with Mana.
"Switch seats with Endrick from behind, He's also a tier 4 Mage and should be able to withstand the drain better, We can't afford to slow down now," Alec commanded.
The Truck responded to Alec even before the others moved, Beatrice's chair smoothly bent into a reclining position and was lifted up by an indescribable force, while Endrick's seat seamlessly slid forward from underneath the space left by Beatrice's levitated chair.
As Beatrice's chair seamlessly filled the void left by Endrick in the back of the car...
As Endrick settled into the vacant space, wasting no time, he immediately infused his Mana into the Orb just as they reached a crucial turning point.
Seizing the opportunity, Alec expertly steered the car, leveraging the momentum from a drift to overtake the vehicle in the fifth position, propelling them into fifth place instead.
Adrenaline pumping, Alec's focus shifted to the next car ahead.
The Mage who piloted the Truck they had surpassed watched in astonishment as Alec and his team surged forward.
It was incredulous to witness a Mage, who had never participated in this game before, possess such exceptional driving skills and charge ahead with unwavering determination.
Gritting his teeth in anger, the opposing Mage refused to accept defeat.
He clenched his left hand onto the door handle, and from outside the car, a colossal gun materialized on the left side.
A wicked smile adorned his face as he calmly pressed the trigger concealed within the car. Suddenly, a massive ice sword shot forth, encircled by mesmerizing ice blue runes.
Fortunately, Alec had been observant enough to notice the gun emerging from the main mirror, and the team at the back of the truck had attempted to voice out. When the ice sword came hurtling towards them, Alec instinctively swerved his truck to the opposite side.
And the sword collided with the car in front of him, causing severe damage to the truck and freezing the two back tires, as well as some of the mages situated at the rear.
The frozen tires created a friction that brought the truck to an abrupt halt, sliding uncontrollably.
As Alec quickly realized the imminent danger and executed a swift turn without glancing back.
Shifting gears to reverse, he adeptly maneuvered the vehicle with precision, seamlessly progressing to the fourth position without the slightest hesitation.
In an unexpected twist, the car beside him was struck by the vehicle trailing behind, diverting it off course.
Alec comprehended that it would take substantial time for their competitors to recover, effectively eliminating them from the top three rankings.
Now face to face with the car that had maliciously attempted to slice through his own with an ice sword, Alec confidently continued driving in reverse, skillfully directing the truck's movements solely relying on his rear-view mirror.
