The Greatest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Tensura

Chapter 9: The Aftermath

The high demon's body crumbled into embers, his lifeforce fading into nothingness. A surge of energy rushed through his attacker's veins—a familiar sensation, yet different each time. He clenched his fist, feeling the warmth of newly acquired power settling into his being.

Taking a deep breath, he exhaled and spoke.

"Lara, give me a full report. What did I gain?"

A soft, ethereal chime resonated in his mind as Lara's voice, ever composed, responded.

"Understood. Analyzing the acquired data now... Processing..."

A brief pause. Then, with precision, she began listing his newly obtained abilities.

"Primary Acquisition: Red Lineage Infernal Arts."

- *Hellfire Manipulation– You can now summon and control the scorching flames unique to the Red Lineage demons. Unlike standard fire, this hellfire burns not only the physical but also the spiritual essence of its target.

- Blazing Regeneration– Your wounds can now heal at a rapid pace when engulfed in hellfire, converting heat into restorative energy.

- Infernal Surge – A combat ability that amplifies speed and strength for a short period when fueled by rage or bloodlust.

"Secondary Acquisition: Combat Skills & Resistances."

- Demon's Battle Instincts – Heightened reaction speed and the ability to anticipate an opponent's moves with greater accuracy in combat.

- Fire Resistance– A significant boost to your resistance against all fire-based attacks, including magical and infernal flames.

- Heat Absorption – Allows you to absorb heat from the surroundings or fire-based attacks, reducing damage taken and potentially replenishing energy.

"Lesser Skill Enhancements:"

- Claw Arts: Execution Rend – A powerful slashing attack that can cut through armor and flesh alike with enhanced sharpness.

- Predator's Focus – Your ability to lock onto and analyze an opponent's weak points has improved.

"With these new skills, your combat capabilities have increased significantly, particularly against fire-based opponents. Your regenerative ability now has an additional method of activation, and your resistance to heat has reached an advanced level. However, be aware that these abilities require energy consumption proportional to their use. Overreliance could lead to exhaustion or depletion of your magic reserves."

He absorbed the information, rolling his shoulders as if testing his body for changes.

"Hellfire, huh?" he mused, summoning a small ember in his palm. The flame burned differently—darker, more intense, almost alive.

He smirked. "I like it."

Then his expression turned serious. "Lara, any weaknesses?"

"Yes. While you have acquired advanced fire resistance, this does not apply to holy flames or divine energy. Furthermore, your absorption abilities have a limit. Attempting to devour an overwhelming force without proper control could backfire, resulting in severe internal damage. Lastly, prolonged use of Blazing Regeneration in critical conditions may drain your stamina faster than natural healing would."*

He nodded. "So it's strong, but not foolproof. Got it."

There was a brief pause before Lara continued.

"I must also inform you that while your abilities continue to grow, your evolution remains stagnant. As I previously mentioned, receiving a true name from a powerful being would drastically accelerate your growth. Would you like me to analyze potential beings capable of granting you a suitable name?"

He thought for a moment, gazing at the horizon where the battlefield lay in ruins. He was growing stronger—faster than he could have imagined. But he had limits. And limits were meant to be broken.

His smirk returned. "Yeah. Do it."

As the embers of his fallen foe faded, he stood there, feeling the lingering heat of his newly acquired powers. His fists clenched and unclenched, testing the subtle differences in his strength. He was growing, but he knew he could still go further.

"Lara, analyze potential candidates who could give me a name powerful enough to push me beyond my limits."

A soft chime resonated in his mind as Lara immediately processed his request.

"Understood. Beginning analysis... Processing potential candidates based on magicule reserves, strength, and the likelihood of survival post-naming... Scan complete. The most viable candidate is—"

She paused momentarily, as if emphasizing the name.

"Veldora, the Storm Dragon."

His brows lifted slightly. "Veldora?" He repeated the name, rolling it over his tongue. It felt heavy, powerful.

"Yes," Lara continued. "Veldora, one of the four True Dragons, is an entity of immeasurable power. He possesses vast reserves of magicules, enough to grant a name without suffering the typical energy drain that would affect weaker beings."

He crossed his arms, intrigued. "And where exactly is Veldora right now?"

"Currently, Veldora resides in the Cardinal World, in the Jura Forest."

He frowned. "The Cardinal World… That complicates things. Any other True Dragons worth considering?"

"Affirmative. There are three others: Velgrynd, the Scorch Dragon, and Velzard, the White Ice Dragon and their older brother the strongest the creator of this world, the strongest, Veldanava, the Star Dragon. Like Veldora, they are exceptionally powerful beings with immense magicule reserves."

He listened intently. "Tell me more about them. What kind of personalities are we talking about here?"

Lara's voice carried a tone of precision as she detailed the three True Dragons.

"Veldora is known for his chaotic yet friendly personality. Unlike most powerful beings, he is not overly arrogant or unapproachable. He enjoys battles and destroying things. He can be unpredictable but is fiercely loyal to those he considers friends. If approached correctly, he might name you out of amusement or curiosity."

He smirked. "A battle-loving dragon, huh? Sounds like he'd be fun to fight. What about Velgrynd?"

"Velgrynd, also known as the Burning Empress, is a True Dragon with mastery over flames and extreme speed. She is highly intelligent, pragmatic, and possesses a strong sense of responsibility. Unlike Veldora, she does not act impulsively and tends to analyze situations carefully before taking action. She currently align herself with a human named Rudra, and values strategic thinking. Approaching her for a name would require proving your worth in a way that aligns with her ideals."

He clicked his tongue. "So she's more of a tactician, someone who only gives respect if it's earned. Not exactly the easiest to convince. And Velzard?"

"Velzard, the Ice Empress, is the eldest and perhaps the most powerful of the three. She is calm, composed, and has a strong sense of dominance. Unlike Veldora's playfulness or Velgrynd's pragmatism, Velzard embodies absolute authority and stillness. She dislikes chaos and prefers order. To gain her favor, one would need to demonstrate strength in a controlled, refined manner, rather than brute force or reckless ambition."

He then asked "what about Veldanva?"

"Veldanava is the creator of this world, the most powerful being currently in the Cardinal World, approaching him will be very hard unless he finds you interesting, but more likely will assign you a job for a favor and that will perhaps not align with your mission."

He exhaled, digesting the information. "So Veldora's the wild card, Velgrynd's the strategic one, Velzard's the untouchable queen and Veldanava the creator, Damn, no easy options, huh?"

"Correct. Direct contact with them would be highly challenging unless circumstances allow it."

He tilted his head, considering. "And which one do you think I should go after?"

"Based on your current abilities, personality, and adaptability, Veldora is the most probable candidate. He is the most approachable of the Four. However, you would still need to get his attention and earn his recognition in some form."

A smirk played on his lips. "Get his attention, huh? Something tells me picking a fight would be the easiest way."

"Possibly. However, consider that engaging a True Dragon in combat without a plan is highly dangerous, even for you. A more calculated approach might yield better results."

He chuckled. "Lara, you know me by now. I don't do boring."

With a new goal in mind, he turned his gaze toward the horizon. If the next step in his evolution lay with the True Dragons, then it was time to figure out how to reach them.
