The Hero Turned Into A Potato And The World Fell To Ruin

Chapter 75: You Think She's in the Basement, but She's Actually on the Fifth Floor

A seemingly endless stream of Earthwalker grunts poured out of the dark, narrow passageway.

Osar's fur was disheveled, and his fists stained red with blood. Girunini was in an even more extreme state. She was completely drenched in blood, and it was near impossible to find a spot that wasn't red.

Of course, none of that blood was hers.

A narrow corridor like this was the perfect battleground for melee warriors like Osar and Girunini. Regardless of how many grunts there were, such a strategic bottleneck meant that the two only had to face a few at a time.

Given the strength of these Earthwalker soldiers, Osar and Girunini had no trouble dealing with them.

As the bodies piled up, the already narrow corridor became even more cramped, slowing the soldiers' advance. It probably wouldn't take long before the corpses completely block off the passageway.

This surprisingly easy battle made Osar relax slightly. He even started thinking about how to shake off these enemies and continue searching for their missing companions.

Girunini, on the other hand, didn't have the capacity for such thoughts. Blood excited her, and the more blood there was, the greater her lust for battle soared.

But just as the two were slaughtering their way through, a violent tremor came from below. Suddenly, the ground beneath them split, and a huge hand reached up, grabbing Osar's right leg.

Caught off guard, Osar didn't have time to react and was dragged downward.

Girunini too was slightly startled, but she acted immediately. With her axe, she split the soldier in front of her in half, then leaped toward the humongous hand gripping Osar's leg.

As the ground completely opened up, the little potatoes placed in the corner also fell. On hitting the ground, they immediately burrowed in and scattered.

The Earthwalker giant swung Osar toward the charging Girunini, intending to use the former as a shield.

However, Osar had already adjusted his stance and reached a hand out to Girunini. Reading this perfectly, Girunini spun her axe behind her and grabbed Osar's hand in midair. Using the momentum, she swung herself around, delivering a perfect arc that decapitated the giant, and the two landed gracefully.

But upon hitting the ground, they realized something was wrong.

Based on their memory, there should have been many layers of complex structures beneath them. However, when they looked around, it was all an open space.

And encircling them now were at least a dozen Earthwalker giants and countless grunts.

"Damn." Osar grimaced. "Nini, should we run?"

"Run? Why should we?" A look of maniacal frenzy had crept into Girunini's face. "Since they all wish to die, I'll grant their wishes!"

With that, she brandished her axe and leaped toward one of the giants.

"No, tsk. I shouldn't have asked…" Osar grumbled, following after her closely and fending off the grunts trying to sneak on her.

The giant, enraged by the tiny enemy's bold charge, roared and swung a massive fist at Girunini.

The miffy deftly twisted midair and sliced off the giant's entire arm. Then, Girunini made a clutching motion, and the giant's blood started to gush out like a fountain. Color drained from the giant's face, and in no time, he collapsed as a dried-out husk.

Meanwhile, the blood gathered as a mist around Girunini, bathing her in a red aura that seemed to empower her further.

The whites of her eyes darkened, and a terrifying red glow appeared in her pupils as she laughed maniacally and leaped at the next giant.

Osar was slightly concerned upon seeing Girunini's state, but he very quickly regained his focus. After all, the countless Earthwalker grunts all around him weren't here for idle chat.

Taking a deep breath, Osar clenched his fists and charged into the enemy ranks.

Mervant's face was twitching. Even though he had given Guoguo enough trust after coming down…

Whoosh!

An arrow glowing with green energy landed, stirring up a cloud of dust. Unfortunately, it struck nothing besides the ground.

Another miss. What is she doing… Mervant wondered anxiously as he turned to cut down two Earthwalker grunts trying to jump him.

At that moment, a giant landed beside Mervant and swatted at him with two massive hands.

A white light descended on Mervant as he spread his wings. He turned into a speeding blur, narrowly dodging the attack and slashing right at the Earthwalker giant's eyes.

Though Earthwalkers had poor eyesight, they still relied on vision to track fast-moving objects up close.

Even blinded, the giant still tried to attack Mervant, but without vision, his strikes were erratic and ended up hitting his own comrades.

Mervant was pleased seeing the battlefield descend into chaos. He glanced upward, anticipating Guoguo's covering fire.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

Three more arrows were fired, though not a single was hit as the arrows harmlessly got embedded in the ground.

Mervant's face turned a shade darker. He was even considering flying upward and asking what was going on with that troublesome girl.

But at this moment, two Earthwalker giants suddenly attacked the blinded one, knocking it out cold. The chaos died down, and Mervent soon found himself surrounded by enemies once again.

Caught off guard, Mervant struggled slightly, cutting down soldiers as he tried to escape, but was soon blocked off by giants.

White light descended once more as Mervant's figure turned into a blur, dodging the giants' attacks, but the encirclement tightened. Eventually, he was struck by a giant's claw, and despite bracing beforehand, he was sent crashing to the ground.

Pain shot through him; he could tell that there were some broken bones. But he couldn't stay down. Lying down in the center of the enemy meant death.

As he got up, another arrow landed in front of him.

At the same time, above the battlefield.

"Forty-eight, and now…" Guoguo drew the penultimate arrow from her quiver, bowstring taut as she held her breath, waiting.

Then, seeing a gap below appear, she released the bowstring.

Whoosh!

The wind whipped up dust as the arrow struck the ground with perfect accuracy.

"Forty-nine…" she whispered, drawing her last arrow and calling out, "Sis Cali! Now! Pull him up!"
