Chapter 201: Chapter 201: The Initial Steps of Construct Creation
Solomon wasn't here to tell stories—he was here to learn. After wiping the blood off his knuckles, he sent Tony Stark away and dove into the rich library of basic materials and Iron Man suit databases that the billionaire had collected. While these materials were labeled "basic," without a solid scientific foundation, they were almost incomprehensible. And the sprawling databases—despite J.A.R.V.I.S.'s optimization—still contained mountains of redundant data. Solomon had come to Stark Industries specifically to study construct creation technology. Building golems didn't require this level of detail, but who wouldn't want a sleek and beautiful robotic maid?
No one can resist a good-looking mecha-girl! (A controversial statement, but still.)
Before this, Solomon had already dabbled in golem construction and bionic research through his studies in necromancy and alchemy. For instance, he had delved into preliminary studies on flesh golems and homunculi (alchemical derivatives of the Creator Scholar archetype). Solomon had no desire to grab some mindless victim from the Elemental Planes to shove into his golem; he wanted rational, intelligent servants.
To that end, he was willing to take the long road, embarking on the intricate creation of his own automaton, complete with a functional cognitive framework.
The arcanist even contemplated refining bionic flesh further, aiming to imbue these robotic maids with human-like warmth and texture. This wasn't about being single—this was a spellcaster's pursuit of the intersection of magic and science, an exploration of universal truths! Even if questioned by a witch, Solomon felt he could confidently justify his motives (probably).
Whatever one thought of Stark's character, his achievements in mechanical design and automation were unparalleled. Solomon had closely examined the mechanical structures of the Iron Man suits, from the Mark II to the Mark VI. The engineering behind them left him in awe. The Mark V portable armor, in particular, amazed him. Instead of relying on the traditional ball screw and gear-driven mechanisms to enhance the limbs, Stark had used a bio-inspired transmission system modeled after snake musculature. This allowed for an unprecedented compression of the armor's internal components—resulting in an entire suit that could fold into a briefcase.
This was precisely what Solomon needed. To give his mechanical maid both human-like skin and muscles along with the strength to lift mountains, he needed to study advanced mechanical systems extensively. Sure, some might scoff, saying a low-level wizard shouldn't bother with such pursuits. But as the saying goes, those who don't plan for the long term will stumble in the short term. While Solomon was capable of holding his own in close combat, his primary profession was that of a caster. A loyal construct or automaton to protect him was essential.
Compared to the squishy, drink-carton-like flesh golems, the crude stone or iron golems, or even the rudimentary cobbled-together constructs powered by Kabbalistic sacred tones, Solomon preferred elegant maids.
This was only natural—no one would fault him for it.
Until now, Solomon hadn't shared this plan with anyone in the magical world, but he was already fully prepared. He had purchased large quantities of metals from the lower planes in Rodana, using formulas from fallen angel artisans to create alloys in Stark Industries' labs. Once he finalized the motion mechanics for the metallic skeleton, he could begin constructing the framework for his mechanical maid. All he needed was access to Stark's metalworking facilities to fabricate the necessary components.
After assembling the metallic skeleton, Solomon would engrave runes, enchant it, and embed various processed magical gemstones. Each gemstone would function similarly to integrated circuits, receiving and processing instructions. Programming these components was second nature to him, and J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark's AI, was an excellent source of inspiration. Once installed, the gemstones glowed faintly with wandering starlight, tracing paths that resembled magical neural networks—an awe-inspiring miracle of arcane magic. However, this alone wasn't enough. The neural network lacked deep learning capabilities and was incapable of making judgments.
The construct's intelligence would only be complete after sufficient learning. For this, Solomon entrusted the process to J.A.R.V.I.S., an experienced AI.
Once these steps were completed, Solomon planned to purchase magical materials capable of supporting arcane circuits from vendors like Vandazar Ful. These materials, sourced from other dimensions, would form the outer shell of his ultimate mechanical maid. Additionally, he intended to incorporate necromantic and alchemical techniques to make certain parts feel as soft and moist as human skin. This process would take considerable time, but Solomon was undeterred—he was willing to sell all his scrolls and potions, even bankrupt himself, to achieve his goal. After all, it was better to have the best than to settle for mediocrity.
He showed Tony Stark all his construct design blueprints. These included not only mechanical maids indistinguishable from real humans but also various mechanical monster-girls armed to the teeth. Stark, upon seeing some particularly detailed annotations, was stunned by Solomon's degree of perverseness. He would never have guessed the arcanist would design mechanisms hidden under a robot's skirt.
Stark had to admit, even as someone who had seen and done it all, he couldn't rival Solomon's eccentric creativity. He couldn't understand how a self-proclaimed virgin wizard could develop such a refined aesthetic.
Of course, Solomon wasn't about to reveal that his designs were inspired by visual novels and galgames. Wizards, when they get perverse, operate on a whole different level. Solomon's patient, romantic approach was a rarity—most high-level wizards resolved their desires with nymphs, dryads, or more boldly, succubi from lower planes. Some even resorted to pink magic (which Solomon also knew) or mechanical constructs for assistance. Solomon, armed with the memories of ten different spellcasters, had an XP system so complex it was beyond repair. Coincidentally, the witch who taught him shared similar expertise—it seemed like destiny.
Stark, being a naturally curious, wizard-like figure, didn't ridicule these plans. On the contrary, he was deeply intrigued. Otherwise, he wouldn't have tolerated Solomon frequently dismantling Iron Man suits without always reassembling them correctly. He had only one condition: Solomon must complete the project in his workshop. Stark wanted to witness the birth of a true magical AI-powered maid. He had seen robots built with science and was now eager to see one made with magic. To sweeten the deal, Stark even offered to sponsor a batch of micro-missiles for the mechanical maid, arguing that swords and daggers alone were too basic.
After Solomon finished his day's studies, Stark proposed taking him on a material-gathering trip. Or, as Stark put it, giving Solomon some "exposure to the world." Today was the day of a special burlesque performance by the world's finest dancers on Broadway. Stark had secretly secured two tickets and was determined to immerse Solomon in their seductive artistry.
This, Stark claimed, was for the sake of science and magic. Solomon, ever earnest, brought a sketchbook, genuinely intending to study the dancers' postures and movement. He was a married man, after all, and wouldn't stray. Whatever Stark thought was Stark's business. Upon arriving at Broadway, Solomon secretly texted Pepper Potts to keep tabs on Stark's activities. Pepper, after all, had specifically tasked Solomon with keeping Stark in check to ensure Morgan Stark's future birth. As long as Tony stayed away from flirting, the Stark Industries CEO wouldn't mind sparing some surplus weaponry.
After all, Solomon was a married man.
"Bayonetta," Solomon murmured into the phone, holding two tickets. His voice was soft and sweet. "Would you be interested in coming to Broadway to watch a show?"
