The Immortal Leo and Reincarnated Luna

Chapter 10: The Proposal and The Dismissal

King Patrick paced the floor of his grand chamber. His first son Prince Xavier was with him. He paused, taking a deep breath to steady himself, he summoned General, Liam. "Liam, come in!" he called, his voice echoing through the stone hallway. The door creaked open, and general Liam entered with a firm stride, his expression a mix of respect and readiness. "Your Majesty, you called for me?" "Indeed, General," King Patrick replied, turning to face him. "I have a crucial mission for you. It concerns our future and the alliance with the Eastern Kingdom." General Liam raised an eyebrow, sensing the weight of the king's words. "I am at your service, Sire. What do you need?"

King Patrick walked to the ornate table where a scroll lay unfurled. "I have drafted a marriage proposal for Princess Bella to marry Prince Leo. This alliance is vital for us, not only to strengthen our position but to have our debts forgiven." Liam's brow furrowed in concern. "You want me to deliver the marriage proposal?" "Yes," the king confirmed, pride swelling in his chest. "Prince Xavier and a small party will go with you, along with various gifts, including fine wine and treasures from our kingdom. Make it grand, Liam. We need to impress them." "Understood, Your Majesty," General Liam responded, determination flooding his veins. "I will ensure the proposal is delivered with the utmost respect and formality." "Good. You will leave at dawn. It's a rough two-day journey to the Eastern Kingdom, and I want you to be prepared for anything," King Patrick instructed, his gaze steady. "The roads can be perilous, and I trust you to lead our men safely." Liam nodded, his heart pounding with expectation. "I will make sure we arrive safely and present the proposal with the honor it deserves. You can count on me."

As the king detailed the specifics of the gifts and the men who would accompany General Liam, the general felt a swell of pride. He had always served his king loyally, and this mission felt significant. "I won't let you down, Sire. This alliance is crucial for our people, and I will do everything in my power to ensure its success." King Patrick smiled, "This could be the turning point for our kingdom."

The following morning, as the first light broke, Prince Xavier, General Liam and 20 men gathered. "Alright, listen up!" he called, his voice strong and unwavering. "We have a two-day journey ahead of us to the Eastern Kingdom. Our mission is to deliver a marriage proposal to King Henry and Prince Leo on behalf of King Patrick. We carry gifts to impress them and secure our alliance." The men nodded; determination etched on their faces. They packed the fine wine and treasures, ensuring everything was ready for the arduous journey ahead. As they set out, General Liam led the way, his horse steady beneath him. The roads were rugged, filled with rocks and uneven terrain, but he pressed forward, urging his men to maintain their pace. On the first evening, they set up camp under a canopy in a thick forest. "We'll rest here for the night," General Liam said, his voice steady as he surveyed the area. "Keep watch, and we'll leave at first light." The Eastern kingdom was powerful and there were mysterious tales of the many kingdoms they had conquered over the centuries.

The next morning, they set off again. The journey was grueling, the path winding through dense forests and steep hills. General Liam remained focused, guiding his men with precision. After hours of travel, they finally reached the borders of the Eastern Kingdom. The sight of the majestic castle in the distance filled Liam with a mixture of pride and anxiety. "We're almost there," he said, urging his men forward. "Keep your heads high and your spirits up. We represent our kingdom now."

As they approached the castle gates, the guards eyed them warily. "State your purpose," one demanded, crossing his arms. General Liam dismounted, stepping forward with confidence. "We come from King Patrick of the Central Kingdom, bearing a marriage proposal to King Henry for Prince Leo. We have gifts to present and hope for an alliance." The guard raised an eyebrow but signaled for them to enter. "Very well. Follow me." Inside, the grandeur of the Eastern Kingdom took Liam's breath away. The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries, and the scent of flowers that filled and was intoxicating. "Stay close," he instructed his men, his heart pounding with anticipation. As they approached the throne room, General Liam felt a rush of determination. He had come this far, and he would see this mission through.

The throne room doors swung open, revealing a tall handsome man, dressed as a general. He looked at prince Xavier and General Liam suspiciously, on his leg was a snake. Then he spoke, "What is your mission?" General Liam was so distracted by the snake that he stammered. We come from King Patrick of the Central Kingdom, bearing a marriage proposal to King Henry for Prince Leo.

The man stood up slowly, revealing a broad smile as walked towards them, the snake followed closely, He put his hand out and the snake climbed up slowly winding itself around his wrist "Welcome," I am General Ramses, the king is busy. Let me see the proposal.

Prince Xavier stepped forward, "With all due respect General Ramses, our business is with King Henry and Prince Leo." General Ramses stepped closer to Prince Xervia then he let his snake down. The snake hissed and crawled around the prince. Prince Xavier stood still, unsure if the snake would attack him. But as a prince, he had learned to hide his emotions and never to show fear.

Then General Ramses walked past Prince Xavier and said to the in a loud stern voice, "Wait here." Both general Liam, Prince Xavier and their men exchanged glances but said nothing.

Within minutes, the door swung open once again, with a loud bang. They all turned to see King Henry, "What brings you to my kingdom?"

General Liam stepped forward, bowing respectfully. "Your Highness, I am General Liam, the is Prince Xavier, the first legitimate son of King Patrick, we have been sent by King Patrick of the Central Kingdom. We bring an important marriage proposal for your consideration." With a steady voice, he presented the scroll, feeling the weight of expectation in the air. "This alliance is not only a union of two families but a means to secure peace and prosperity for both our kingdoms. In return we ask that the debt of our kingdom be forgiven and forgotten."

General Liam held his breath, the tension palpable. This moment could change everything for their kingdom. King Henry finally spoke, "We accept" They will be wed within a fortnight. You may all leave." He waved a dismissive hand, leaving no room for a response.

General Liam stood frozen for a moment; disbelief etched on his face as King Henry waved them away with a dismissive gesture. "You may leave now," the king had said, his tone curt, as if their two-day journey had been of little consequence. Liam felt a surge of indignation rise within him; they had braved treacherous roads and endured exhaustion to bring an important proposal. Yet here they were, offered no hospitality, no respite for their weary bodies. The lack of respect stung, and Liam exchanged incredulous glances with Prince Xavier and his men, all of them feeling the weight of the king's disregard. It was a bitter pill to swallow, especially when they had risked so much for this alliance, and Liam vowed to remember this slight as they navigated the complexities of their mission.
