Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Magical Body Tempering, Uncle Snape, Your Problem is Solved
After bidding farewell to Snape, Charlie returned to his room at the orphanage.
He glanced at the unfinished letter on his desk.
Shaking his head, he tossed it straight into the trash.
Then, he turned his attention to the books Snape had brought him.
These books were clearly quite old
Antique yet full of character.
However, not a speck of dust could be seen on them.
Snape must have carefully cleaned them.
"Defense Against the Dark Arts: From Beginner to Mastery"
"The Secrets of Fantastic Beasts: Origins of Magical Creatures"
"The Importance of Magical Reserves in Practical Combat"
"The Encyclopedia of Herbology"
"…"
This batch of books was much deeper in content than the previous ones.
Charlie quickly entered study mode and became fully immersed.
Time flew by.
[You have finished reading Defense Against the Dark Arts: From Beginner to Mastery and have comprehended General Dark Arts Defense Techniques.]
[You have finished reading Advanced Compendium of Magical Knowledge and have comprehended Advanced Magic Absorption.]
[You have finished reading The Encyclopedia of Herbology and have comprehended Herb Grafting Techniques.]
…
Several days passed.
Charlie devoted himself entirely to reading these books.
This time, the content was much more profound than before.
It also took him noticeably longer to finish.
Charlie felt his mind overflowing with knowledge.
And the techniques and principles he had comprehended seemed to be imprinted deep within his brain.
There was only one book left.
Charlie picked up the last one
The Detailed Principles of Magic Flow Within the Body.
He quickly began flipping through it.
Everything in the outside world seemed irrelevant to him.
[You have finished reading The Detailed Principles of Magic Flow Within the Body and have comprehended the Magic Body Tempering Training Method.]
Charlie put the book down and took a deep breath.
Finally, he had finished.
The last thing he had learned, the Magic Body Tempering Training Method
Made him very satisfied.
Ordinary wizards, no matter how powerful,
Tended to be extremely vulnerable in terms of physical defense.
That was why Hogwarts placed such importance on Defense Against the Dark Arts.
After all, one only had a single life.
If a wizard were ambushed, they could be instantly killed before even reacting.
But the principle Charlie had just grasped could solve this problem.
With proper training
If it became an instinct, a muscle memory
He would be able to instantly form a magical barrier over his body
When facing a magical sneak attack.
Precisely formed and extremely sturdy.
Effectively blocking offensive dark magic.
Of course
Charlie already had other means of resisting dark magic.
For instance, he could instantly transform into his Animagus form
A fire dragon.
His physical toughness would reach an astonishing level.
The only downside? It was terrible for his clothes…
Occasionally, when no one was around,
Charlie would go to the countryside to practice this ability.
Now, at ten years old,
His dragon form had grown to a satisfactory size.
Once he enrolled at Hogwarts,
With more potions and magical food,
His dragon form should grow even faster.
Charlie then flipped through Snape's notebook.
It was densely filled with Snape's thoughts on Dark Arts defense.
And detailed records of numerous experiments.
Charlie studied it carefully.
After some time
He identified Snape's main problem.
It was precisely about how to efficiently guard against sneak attacks from wizards.
How coincidental.
It just so happened to align with what Charlie had recently comprehended.
After finishing the notes,
Charlie's understanding of the Magic Body Tempering Method deepened even further.
Over the following days,
Charlie began practicing this method.
The results were remarkable.
He could feel his body strengthening at a rapid pace.
His power, speed, everything
Had significantly improved.
No exaggeration
At just ten years old, he could probably break a stone slab over his chest with ease.
Not that he would ever do something so ridiculous.
But the biggest achievement?
He could now instantly conjure a magic barrier over his body.
His palm, his back, his knees
Instant activation.
It had already become an instinctual reaction.
And it was all thanks to the training method he had developed.
Only by following Charlie's approach could someone achieve this result.
The next day
Charlie picked up a pen.
And began writing a letter.
It contained a list of books he needed.
A few words of greeting for Snape.
And finally, answers to the questions Snape had left in his notebook.
After finishing, he summoned an owl.
"All set."
Having completed everything, Charlie took a well-deserved rest.
This period had been quite exhausting.
A few days later
Inside an office at Hogwarts
Snape sat by the window, lost in thought.
It seemed like he was waiting for something.
For some reason,
He had been feeling distracted these past few days.
Oddly enough
He had a strong feeling Charlie would surprise him.
The books didn't count, Charlie would undoubtedly finish them in a short time.
But his notebook on Dark Arts defense…
Would Charlie actually have suggestions for him?
There was a small, hopeful anticipation.
Though Snape knew the idea was absurd.
"Caw!"
A bird's cry.
Snape's heart skipped a beat.
He quickly looked out the window.
Sure enough
Charlie's owl was flying toward him.
Snape took the letter and tossed the owl a magical treat.
Then, he sat down and began reading.
"Dear Professor Snape,"
"I need books in the following fields…"
…
Snape read carefully, noting down Charlie's requests.
These were things Charlie needed, he had to handle them properly.
Then, he continued reading.
His eyelid twitched slightly.
"Regarding your question on Dark Arts defense, I have some thoughts…"
It was real!
Snape's heart surged with emotion!
Good heavens.
Charlie actually responded to my problem!
Is he really just a child?
A young wizard who hasn't even started school yet?
He must be a magical prodigy.
Snape suddenly stood up.
He paced back and forth.
Taking deep breaths.
Trying to calm himself down.
For a long while
Snape finally let out a deep sigh.
Then, he rubbed his face.
Slowly sat back down.
Took out paper and a quill.
Placed Charlie's letter in front of him.
And began taking notes.
