Chapter 7: A task of intimacy
Liam's eyes snapped open to the sound of raised voices outside his door. Before he could fully comprehend what was happening, the bedroom door flew open violently. A young lady with her wild blonde hair trailing behind her, rushed inside and dove onto the bed, wrapping her arms around Liam's confused form.
"Sir Hero!" she exclaimed, her voice almost a shrill cry of excitement. "I've been waiting for you!"
The rays of the morning sun filtered through the bedroom window, casting a soft, golden light across the room. Liam's eyes were still adjusting to the sudden burst of light and activity and struggled to focus on the woman currently clinging to him like a starstruck fangirl at a rock concert.
"I'm so glad you're finally here!" she exclaimed.
As his grogginess subsided, Liam took in the sight of the woman pressed up against him. Her hair was a sun-kissed blonde, falling in gentle curls around her heart-shaped face. Though she didn't have the voluptuous figure of Selene or Lysandra, her curves were perfectly proportioned, fitting her petite frame like a glove.
He could feel the warmth of her body radiating through her clothes, and her breasts pressed softly against his chest. Suddenly, Liam realized that he was blushing.
Liam's face flushed even deeper as he realized the position they were in. The young lady , oblivious to his discomfort, sat astride his lap, her toned thighs brushing against his. And directly underneath her was his fully erect, morning-fueled manhood, straining against the thin fabric of his pants. He froze, unsure if she'd notice, but also too mortified to push her off.
She giggled, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Lysandra stormed into the room, blazing with fury. "Erynn! What do you think you are doing, barging in here and harassing the Hero like this?!"
Erynn who was still perched on top Liam's lap, flashed a mischievous grin. "Oh, come on, Lysandra. Don't be such a stickler. I'm just excited to finally meet the great Hero!
Lysandra's eyes narrowed. "You're supposed to be a priestess, not a fangirl. Now get off of him, before you wear out your welcome."
Erynn pouted. "Oh, come on. I'm not harming anyone. Besides," she continued, shifting her weight, causing Liam's member to twitch involuntarily, "the hero isn't complaining."
Lysandra scowled, glowering daggers at Erynn.
As Erynn shifted her weight on Liam's lap, his face flushed with anxiety.
"Oh god, she must have felt it. There's no way she didn't notice, right?"
He could feel his heart beating faster, his mind racing. "What am I gonna do? I can't just ask her to stop—that'd be even more awkward. What if she—"
Lysandra's furious voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"That's enough," Lysandra snapped. "He is our Hero, not a plaything for your amusement. The Church has an important task for him, and he's not going to accomplish it if you don't get off of him right now."
Erynn rolled her eyes. "Fine, fine. You're no fun, you know that?" She pushed herself off of Liam's lap and stood, straightening her dress. She shot Liam a wink before turning her attention back to Lysandra.
As Lysandra and Erynn glared at each other, Liam could feel his heartrate slowing to its normal pace. He quickly shifted his position on the bed, discreetly adjusting his pants as he tried to act like nothing had happened. His cheeks were still flushed, but he hoped that Lysandra and Erynn wouldn't notice.
Erynn spoke first, her voice syrupy sweet. "Lysandra, I think you're being too harsh on me. After all, I was just welcoming our Hero to the Church. Surely he deserves a warm welcome, don't you think?
As the two women squabbled, Liam's eyes shifted away from the argument, a flicker of movement catching his attention. There, floating in the air before him, was the screen that had appeared the night before.
00:00:00
The digits flashed on the screen before disappearing, leaving the blank icon and the superscript "1" hovering in the air.
"Hey, do you guys see that?" Liam asked, pointing at the screen that only he could see. "It's… I think it's a message of some sort."
Lysandra frowned, squinting at the spot Liam was pointing at. "I'm not sure what you're talking about," she said, clearly puzzled.
"Yeah, I don't see anything either," Erynn added, giving Liam an understanding pat on the shoulder.
"Huh," Liam muttered. "That's weird. It's just..." He shook his head, giving up on trying to explain. "Maybe it's just a trick of the light, or something." He felt a bit embarrassed, but also relieved that the women couldn't see what he was seeing. He didn't want to sound like a lunatic, after all.
Lysandra sighed, looking none too convinced. "Maybe you still half asleep."
Lysandra shook her head, the tiniest hint of amusement playing around her lips. "Come on, Erynn. Give the hero some space." She glanced at Liam and nodded, a friendly but firm gesture of dismissal. "You should clean yourself up. We'll see you downstairs when you're ready."
Erynn stuck out her tongue at Lysandra, but complied, casting a quick wink at Liam as she left the room.
Once they were gone, Liam let out a long, shaky breath. "Okay," he said to himself turning his attention back to the floating screen.
Liam tentatively reached out and tapped the icon on the screen.
The message shimmered, changing to read:
"Task: Accidental intimacy—fall and land in an unfortunate position."
"What the—" Liam muttered, reading the words.
He knew what the "accidental intimacy" meant—and frankly, it wasn't something he could pull. "I'm not gonna do it," Liam whispered defiantly, fixing his eyes on the screen. "I don't care what the consequences are. I'm not gonna..."
He froze as the message changed, his breath catching in his throat.
"Time to complete task: 08:00:00. Failure to complete task will lead to termination of host."
Liam's blood ran cold. "Wait, what? Termination of host?" he murmured, his voice was barely audible over the racing of his heart. "Is this thing saying I'll die if I don't fall into someone?"
He moved his eyes around the room, as if the answers to his questions were hidden among the furnishings.
