Chapter 26: An Evil Plan
I stood in the living room with my arms folded under my chest as each of the workers introduced themselves. There were a total of twenty bodyguards who introduced themselves and I can't even remember the name of one person as they weren't any regular names.
The other workers such as; the gardener, the cooks, the cleaners, including Claire went on to introduce themselves. They were all in their respective work uniforms and they're all so organized.
"Claire will give you a tour of the house ma'am, if you don't mind," the butler said in a regulated tone.
"That would be lovely," I replied simply as Claire stepped out and gestured for me to follow her.
We first went to a separate wing that I didn't even know was part of the house, it belonged to the workers. After exploring their wing for some minutes, we went back to the main house. There were so many unused rooms downstairs which I guess might be for visitors.
"That's master Alexander's room," Claire said pointing to a door that was next to mine.
I stared at the door for a few seconds before placing my hand on the door knob and twisted it but the door didn't open. My face contorted into a frown and I looked at Claire who just shrugged at me.
We walked away from the door to the end of the passageway.
"This is his office. He uses this office quite often that most times he sleeps in here." I nodded and walked away from the door when my eyes caught a door at the other end of the passageway with a bold 'LIBRARY' sign on the door. I twisted the door knob open and entered the library with Claire in tow.
I gasped in awe and wonder mingled with approbation at the sight of the library. It was huge and beautifully lit with books stacked orderly on shelves. There were so many books here to read, that could probably keep me busy for a full year.
My insides coursed with excitement as I've seen something new that I can use to pass time. I bet I'll be spending most of my days in here.
We finally left the library to the pool which was shimmering under the bright sun. I don't think I'd have any business with the pool because of my aquaphobia. I don't even know how to swim.
The last place we went to was the garden, which was filled with a wide range of colorful and beautiful flowers. There were also some other plants but I didn't pay any close attention to them. I swiftly bent down and plucked out a purple hibiscus that was within my reach.
I brought it to my nose and inhaled the scent. It had a bland smell that was soothing to the nose. I plucked more and more till my hand was filled with the hibiscus. I loosed my bun and used the ribbon on my hair to tie them up into a bunch. Satisfied with the look, I handed it to Claire.
"This is my gift to you, please accept it." She let out a nervous laugh before reluctantly taking the flowers from me. I smiled at her before pinching her cheeks lightly. "They're cute, just like you." A light blush tinted her cheeks and she slightly bent her face to hide it from me.
So cute and precious!
"Do you have spare keys to this room?" I asked Claire as we stood in front of Alexander's room.
"No," she answered shortly. I gave her a long stare and turned to look at the door again.
"Well, you should have spare keys to his office, right?" I asked and she nodded." "Well, go get them for me." I headed over to his office and stood in front of the door while waiting for Claire to return.
I sighed deeply as I patiently tapped my feet on the floor. I desperately want to get on Alexander's nerve. I just want to bruise his ego and crush his arrogance a little.
That wouldn't be too bad right? A mischievous smile graced my lips as a thought crossed my mind.
He'd never know what awaits him. I laughed out hysterically as I imagined how his face would look like if he eventually finds out what I want to do.
Claire came back with the butler, their face both contorted with worry. I looked at their hands and saw the keys on the butler's hand. I grasped it from him before he could react. I inserted it into the keyhole and twisted till it clicked open. I opened the door and entered the door with Claire and the butler behind me.
I stepped into the office and looked around. It was an actual office, with files stacked on the table.
"Please ma'am, you shouldn't be in here." I turned sharply to look at the butler. I scoffed and proceeded towards the large desk and picked up some files, my eyes scanning them through to see what their contents are.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to take a look at my husband's office. Isn't that right, John?" He shared a look with Claire and shook his head negatively at me. I flashed him a grin and went on to search for any important file I could lay my hands on.
I want to take an important file or document that he would urgently need for his business. I continued searching till my eyes caught a paper with words written in capital letters.
I picked it up and read the contents. This is a multi-million business contract that needed to be signed tomorrow and I know he'd need this so bad.
He'd probably go berserk if he didn't find it. I flicked the paper and smiled to myself. This is gonna be so much fun!
I turned to look at Claire and John with a wide grin on my face, they both stared at me in confusion, but I just ignored them and strutted out of the room gracefully.
I was almost drifting into deep slumber when I heard a loud, annoying knock on my door.
Who the hell would be so rude to knock on the door like this?
Oh! There's one person - Alexander!
Did he find out already?
"OPEN THIS DOOR, RIGHT NOW!!!," Alexander's voice boomed loudly from the other side of the door making me flinch.
"Shit! Open this door or I'd be forced to break it down!" He threatened but I know he wouldn't dare.
He can probably do his worse but I'm not opening that door.
I sat still on the bed humming to myself as he kept banging repeatedly on the door.
"Keep it down, young man. At this rate, you're going to damage the door," I shouted when the banging became incessant.
When it seemed like he wouldn't stop, I laid down on my bed and covered my ears with a pillow.
I gasped loudly when I was forcefully grabbed from my legs. I turned to look at who it was and my heart jumped into my stomach when Alexander's body hovered over me.
I looked to the ajar door in surprise, it wasn't broken down or ripped off it's hinges.
How did he get in?
I looked back at him to see his eyes slit with intense rage and anger.
"Hand it to me, now!" He commanded, his tone icy.
"No! I won't and you can't do anything about it." He let out a hysterical laugh before pinning my two hands above my head.
"You wouldn't know what I have in-store for you, darling!"
Oh-oh, this isn't going the way I planned!
