The Multiverse Hunter

Chapter 176: Chapter 176

Ali stood alone on the rough, shifting sands, his presence dwarfed by the towering forms of colossal dragons encircling him.

The air was heavy with their immense power, an almost tangible weight that pressed against his chest. Most of the dragons were reclining, their massive heads resting on the ground, eyes closed as though uninterested in the human standing among them.

But even in their apparent lethargy, their sheer size was staggering. Each dragon's immense body concealed the ranks of countless smaller dragons behind them, creating an overwhelming sense of scale.

Their forms stretched endlessly, scales shimmering in hues of black, crimson, emerald, sapphire, and many other colours each reflecting the element they embodied.

Ali's gaze darted from one to another, each creature embodying a unique, primal energy. The black-scaled dragon near him radiated malice and raw destructive, beastial force, its teeth like jagged mountains within its cavernous maw.

Ali opened his mouth to respond to the black dragon's rumbling challenge, but before he could utter a word, the air around him thickened abruptly, growing suffocating. The very act of breathing became agonising as the pressure mounted.

His lungs burned as if filled with molten fire. Ali's eyes widened as he realised the severity of the situation, his survival instincts kicking in.

Without hesitation, he stabbed his hand into his own chest, puncturing his right lung to release the air pressure before it could obliterate his entire upper body.

Blood poured from the self-inflicted wound, staining the sand beneath him. Even among the ancient dragons, there was a ripple of surprise.

The dark dragon closest to him narrowed its immense eyes, its slit pupils contracting as it studied the human's ruthless and unflinching action.

'A mere human, yet he dares such a thing…'

The green dragon, her body surrounded by perpetual whirlwinds, tilted her massive head in curiosity, her glowing emerald eyes fixated on the strange figure standing defiantly before them.

From Ali's right, an eerie white mist began to billow, creeping across the sand like a ghostly tide. The air around him grew colder as the fog coiled and thickened, shrouding the horizon.

Slowly, a massive shape emerged from the haze—a dragon's head, easily the size of a small mountain, pushing through the swirling mist.

This dragon's dark grey scales gleamed faintly, appearing polished like aged stone. A jagged scar cut across its immense chest, and from the edges of the wound, milky white flames flickered, dancing with an ethereal glow.

Smoke, darker than the void, escaped from the dragon's nostrils and mouth, curling in tendrils that defied gravity.

Ali's eyes narrowed as he took in the sheer size and otherworldly presence of the dragon. Unlike the others, this one exuded a power that felt less rooted in the natural world. Its very existence felt foreign, as if it belonged to a dimension beyond comprehension.

The dragon's mismatched eyes—one glowing a pure, blinding white and the other swirling with the same void-like colour as its smoke—focused on Ali.

Its presence was oppressive, a crushing weight that seemed to dwarf even the others.

"No matter how or why the human has come here… to trespass in my domain…"

The dragon's voice thundered into Ali's mind, deeper and more resonant than any he had heard before. It carried a primordial energy that reverberated through the ground itself, shaking the sand and echoing in his bones.

The space between Ali and the dragon felt meaningless, its colossal head looming closer, the sheer scale of its presence distorting perspective.

"Enough with the threats… You're boring me."

Ali's voice rang out, sharp and defiant, breaking the heavy silence. A faint smirk crossed his face, his tone carrying an edge of amusement, as though he were addressing an equal rather than a creature that could crush him with a single motion.

A dragon with deep sapphire-blue scales, its body crackling with arcs of lightning, let out a rumbling laugh. Its toothy grin gleamed in the light of the occasional thunderbolts striking its skin.

The emerald wind dragon rose to her feet, her swirling vortex of air intensifying. She took several cautious steps back, her serpentine tail curling protectively around herself. She wanted no part in what was about to unfold.

"DIE."

The grey dragon's single word was an explosion of sound, shaking the ground violently. Its voice carried such immense power that smaller dragons cowered instinctively, their heads bowing.

The dragon opened its monstrous mouth, revealing a cavern of fangs sharper and larger than any sword. At its centre, a swirling orb of pure energy began to form, growing rapidly in size.

The sphere pulsed like a heartbeat, its surface an abyssal black interlaced with streaks of chaotic, glowing light.

Ali didn't flinch. He stared straight into what seemed like a singularity of death—a condensed force capable of annihilating everything in its path.

Even as his vision blurred from the overwhelming brightness, he kept his ground.

The dragon released the energy in a cataclysmic beam that tore through the air, a concentrated torrent of annihilation. The dragons surrounding them sighed in unison, their disappointment palpable.

'A shame,' they thought. 'He was entertaining.'

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

The beam's path was halted abruptly, midair. A swirling black sphere manifested in front of Ali, absorbing the destructive force with ease. The beam's energy spiralled into the sphere, disappearing without a trace.

Ali's name, once burned into his wrist, began to shift and move. The mark left his body entirely, morphing into a humanoid figure that floated above him.

Its form was featureless, composed of a dark, star-speckled substance that resembled the night sky.

The dragons collectively recoiled, their elemental energies flaring in defence as they realised the nature of the new arrival.

"BAD LIZARDS…"

The figure's voice reverberated in their minds, sharper and more piercing than anything they had felt before. Dragons who hadn't known fear in a long time winced as the sound rattled through their skulls.

"WHAT IS A GOD DOING IN MY HOME?" the grey dragon growled, unfurling its immense wings. Their span was so vast that they eclipsed the other dragons, casting a shadow over the humanoid figure.

"I am no god," the figure replied, its voice calmer now but no less commanding. "You may call me Veska. And that human…" Veska gestured to Ali's unconscious form lying on the ground. "…is my apostle."

The dragons, despite their immense power and pride, felt an unspoken respect—or perhaps caution—toward Veska.

"Explain," the grey dragon demanded, its tone less hostile but still filled with authority.

Veska crossed his arms. "I'll be brief. I come from Reincarnation Paradise, a place you all have no doubt heard of. The human lying there—Ali—was sent here to form a contract with one of you through a summoning scroll. I intervened and chose your domain specifically."

The dragons rumbled among themselves, murmurs of "Reincarnation Paradise" spreading like wildfire.

Veska raised a hand, summoning an orb of glowing, radiant energy—the very essence of Origin. The dragons' eyes locked onto it, their instincts screaming at them to reach for it.

"In due time I will bring all of you to Paradise as lesser gods under my protection, and in return, you will agree to form a contract with my apostle," Veska declared.

The dragons fell silent, the enormity of his offer sinking in.

"And not just one of you," Veska added, a smirk forming on his shadowed face. "All of you."

The wind dragon roared in protest. "The human's soul cannot handle such a connection!"

"His soul is more than capable," Veska said firmly.

Moments stretched into silence as the dragons deliberated in their ancient, silent language.

Finally, the grey dragon lowered its massive head, its piercing eyes locked onto Veska.

"We accept."
