The Path Of A True King.

Chapter 29: On A Date (1)

The day after spending time with his family, Elijah found himself preparing for something new—his date with Lisa.

It wasn't something he had expected to do, but when she had asked him out casually at school, he found himself agreeing without much thought.

Lisa was… different. She was confident, playful, and knew how to carry a conversation.

She had been persistent in getting to know him, always flashing a teasing smirk his way whenever they crossed paths at school.

Now, standing outside a café, Elijah adjusted his black hoodie as Lisa approached, wearing a casual but stylish outfit—a fitted top and jeans that highlighted her figure.

Her blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her brown eyes sparkled mischievously.

"You're early," she said, smirking as she stopped in front of him.

Elijah raised an eyebrow. "So are you."

"Touché."

They stepped inside, the scent of coffee and pastries filling the air.

The café was cozy, a good choice for a relaxed first date.

They ordered drinks—black coffee for Elijah, a caramel latte for Lisa—and found a quiet corner to sit.

"So, Mr. Mysterious, tell me something about you that no one knows," Lisa leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand.

Elijah took a sip of his coffee, considering. "I hate tomatoes."

Lisa blinked before bursting into laughter. "That's it? That's the deep, dark secret of Elijah?"

He smirked. "Hey, you asked for something no one knows. I delivered."

Lisa shook her head, grinning. "Fine, fine. Your turn."

Elijah thought for a moment. "Why are you interested in me?"

Lisa tilted her head.

"Hmm… I think it's because you're not like the other guys.

You don't try to impress anyone, and you seem like you have a lot going on beneath the surface.

Plus," she leaned in slightly, "I like a challenge."

Elijah chuckled. "So, I'm a challenge?"

Lisa smirked. "Oh, definitely."

The date continued with light-hearted banter, small moments of shared laughter, and even some competitive fun when Lisa dragged him to an arcade nearby.

They played games, and Lisa quickly discovered that Elijah was unexpectedly skilled at anything requiring precision—he was a natural at the shooting and racing games.

"You're a menace," Lisa pouted after losing another round.

Elijah smirked. "I don't go easy."

She rolled her eyes but smiled. "I'll remember that."

As the evening wore on, Lisa suddenly nudged him. "Come with me."

Elijah followed her without question as she led him down a few streets until they arrived at her house.

It was a modest but well-kept place, quiet and dimly lit as they stepped inside.

Lisa turned to him, a sly smile on her lips. "My parents aren't home."

Elijah felt his pulse quicken slightly as Lisa stepped closer, placing her hands gently on his chest.

"We've had a great time… why don't we make it even better?"

Her fingers traced along his hoodie, her eyes locked onto his.

Elijah wasn't naïve; he knew where this was leading.

A part of him considered it.

This would be his first time, after all.

But then—

[ A King Must Respect Himself ]

Elijah stiffened as the familiar, cold voice of the system echoed in his mind.

[ A moment of short-term pleasure isn't worth it. The only person a King is allowed to sleep with is his own wife. ]

[ Reward: 500 System Points for not doing it. ]

[ Penalty: Losing the True King path and the inability for your penis ]

Elijah's eyes widened. "What the—"

Lisa blinked. "Hmm?"

He shook his head slightly. "Nothing."

His heart pounded.

The penalty wasn't something he could ignore.

His path—the True King path—would be lost.

More than that, he wasn't about to risk that… kind of problem.

Elijah exhaled, stepping back slightly. "Lisa, I… I think we should just chill."

Lisa looked surprised, then studied him closely. "You're serious?"

He nodded. "Yeah."

For a moment, she said nothing, then a small, amused smile appeared on her lips. "You're not like most guys."

Elijah smirked slightly. "I keep telling you that."

She chuckled and shook her head. "Alright, fine. Let's just hang out."

They spent the rest of the evening talking, sitting on the couch and sharing stories.

Elijah found himself enjoying her company, even as his mind occasionally drifted to what had just happened.

When it was time to leave, Lisa walked him to the door. "Well, tonight was… different."

"In a good way?" Elijah asked.

Lisa smirked. "I'll let you know next time."

Then, before he could react, she leaned in and kissed him gently on the lips before pulling back. "Goodnight, Mr. Mysterious."

Elijah watched her close the door behind her before exhaling.

That was close.

As he walked home, his mind still lingered on the system's words.

He had known the system helped him grow stronger, but now it was dictating his personal life too?

"What the hell does being a 'True King' have to do with this?" he muttered under his breath.

The system responded instantly.

[ In the True King path, for you to be a True King, you must marry a virgin. ]

[ Marriage isn't a white wedding, but the covenant created by sleeping with a virgin. ]

[ You can only sleep with your wife, as long as these conditions are met and you take her from her father's house. ]

[ You aren't allowed to leave your wife, unless she commits adultery. ]

[ If these conditions aren't met, the same penalty will apply. ]

Elijah's face darkened. "You're telling me I can only sleep with one person in my entire life?"

[ Correct. A King must have self-control. ]

Elijah groaned. "You're insane."

The system didn't respond.

Shaking his head, Elijah sighed.

He wasn't sure how he felt about this new revelation, but one thing was clear—his path was more complicated than he had realized.
