Chapter 3: The Path To Godhood
Morning had broken at StarFord University's dormitory,
casting a warm glow over the sleeping students. Feng Yun lay on his bed, his eyes fluttering open as a searing pain shot through his head. The agony was three times stronger than before, leaving him breathless. As the pain subsided, he sat up, bewildered, and rubbed his temples.
"Where am I again?" he muttered, looking around the unfamiliar room. His gaze fell upon his hands, and he was taken aback. They were soft and smooth, with jade-like skin, a far cry from the hard, scarred hands of his previous life.
Feng Yun's eyes widened as he rose from his bed and approached the mirror on the room gate. The reflection staring back at him was shocking – a handsome face with piercing eyes and a strong jawline, paired with a lean, athletic body with jade-like skin. He couldn't help but stare, mesmerized by his new appearance.
He thought, "This is the legendary 'Heaven-defying Reincarnation Technique.' I never thought it was real, and that voice... it sends shivers down my spine."
Feng Yun's astonishment wasn't just due to his reincarnation, but also his new, handsome appearance. He mused that if he had looked this way in his previous life, his clan and family might not have been killed by Red Sage, but instead, would have been fought over by female cultivators eager to marry him.
As he admired his reflection, a screen materialized before him, its bright light illuminating the room.
[Ding... Welcome to 'The Path To Godhood.' →To participate, touch {Yes/No}. Warning Alert→ Touching 'No' means instant death. The trial will begin in 10 seconds.]
Feng Yun's eyes narrowed as he read the message. He thought, "Those who refuse to play will die. But it doesn't matter to me; I'm here to play 'The Path To Godhood'." He felt a thrill of excitement mixed with a hint of trepidation.
The countdown began: "5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Begin."
As the screen flashed "Begin," a massive earthquake struck, unlike any other. The tremors were global, causing widespread destruction.
Buildings crumbled, nearly a third of humanity perished, and panic set in. Feng Yun's dormitory was affected, but he was fortunate to be on the ground floor.
His room suffered minor damage, with broken glass and cracks in the walls. However, the back side of the dormitory was completely destroyed.
After a few seconds, Feng Yun heard eerie screams, unlike any he had heard before. He approached the window, his heart racing with anticipation.
The screams grew louder, and he saw a portal, with green, midget-like creatures emerging, armed with poison daggers.
[Ding... Information →Green Goblins with Poison Daggers →Level 1 {Body Tempering Stage 1}. Warning→Never fight them in packs; instead, target them alone.]
Feng Yun's eyes lit up with interest as he read the information. He thought, "This system provides information. Now, let's see my stats."
[Ding... Name→Feng Yun Level{Realm}→Level 1 {Body Tempering Stage 1} Age→Unknown{Reason→Outsider} Title→Evil Swordsman{Evil Sword Art lv1, Devil Pace lv1, Screaming of Evilness lv1} Bloodline→??? Cultivation Technique→Soul Devour Demon [Demon Cultivation Technique]
The Soul Devour Demon technique was a cultivation method that defied logic. It allowed cultivators to progress five times faster than normal, but at a terrible cost. Instead of using traditional immortal cultivation techniques, this method required the souls of any being. Many practitioners went insane, and some even died within days, coughing up blood. However, Feng Yun was different; he had mastered this technique over a century ago, and it seemed to be a part of his very being.
