The Rebirth of Harry Potter

Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Living at the Leaky Cauldron

A New Day Begins

At the crack of dawn, Harry was already awake.

Today marked the official first day of his life as a wizard.

He felt excited—

And the fact that he was completely alone made it even better.

The freedom—

It was absolutely refreshing!

Morning Chill

Harry pulled back the old curtains.

The sky was a deep blue, fading into black.

He pushed open the wooden window, and a cold breeze rushed in.

Even though it was summer,

It was early morning, so the air was chilly.

Harry shut the window halfway,

Then pulled out a sweater and put it on.

Finally, he felt warm again.

"Shouldn't a proper main character wake up with a gorgeous girl beside him?"

Harry sighed dramatically.

A seductive voice suddenly responded.

"Meow~"

Harry glanced over at his bedside.

Curled up into a fluffy little ball was his adorable white kitten.

"…My luck is truly tragic."

A Peaceful Morning

Harry sat by the window,

Gazing at the sky where night and dawn intertwined,

With bright stars and the moon still shining above.

He pulled over a small wooden table,

Lit three candles,

And opened his first textbook: A History of Magic.

This book was a required reading for first-year students.

The scene felt strangely poetic—

A dimly lit room, an open window, a history book,

And a handsome young man quietly reading.

The book covered everything from ancient magical history to modern wizarding events.

When Harry flipped to the last pages,

He found a photo of himself—

As a baby.

"Hey—where's my portrait fee?! This is copyright infringement!"

Harry internally raged.

But after a moment, he calmed down.

Well, it's not like it really hurts me…

Plus, it gives me even more fame—so I'll let it slide.

So, he gave up on the idea of filing a complaint to the Ministry of Magic.

Morning in Diagon Alley

After skimming through the book's table of contents,

And getting a rough overview of the chapters,

The sun had fully risen.

However—

Diagon Alley was still quiet.

From his window, Harry looked down at the street.

The once bustling alleyway was now nearly empty—

Only a few scattered shops had opened.

Harry stretched lazily, rubbing his eyes.

He blew out the three candles,

And watched as three wisps of smoke curled into the air.

Naming the Kitten

Taking off his sweater, Harry tossed it aside,

Leaving only his simple T-shirt.

Then, he flopped onto the bed, arms and legs spread out.

His kitten, who had been asleep,

Got startled and jumped up in shock.

Realizing there was no danger,

It let out a grumpy little meow.

Harry chuckled, scooping up the kitten in his arms.

He rubbed his nose against its soft fur, smiling.

"I still need to give you a name."

Harry thought for a moment.

"How about… Lucky?"

The kitten's fur instantly stood on end.

Harry laughed.

"Wow, you reacted so strongly! Guess that means you love it!"

"Hey—why are you biting me?!"

Harry rubbed his hand in pain.

"Hmm… Elizabeth? Alice?"

"No, no… too complicated. Ugh—this is so hard…"

Harry suddenly grinned.

"How about Tom?"

But then—

He flipped the kitten onto its back and checked.

"…Oh. You're a girl."

"..."

After much struggle,

Harry finally settled on a name.

"Alright—your name is Little Cutie."

He wasn't entirely satisfied with it.

But he convinced himself—

"It's actually a pretty good name!"

Another Naming Dilemma

Suddenly—

A sharp eagle cry broke the silence.

A dark shadow streaked through the sky.

Moments later,

His eagle landed on the windowsill.

It spread its left wing,

Using its sharp beak to groom its feathers.

Harry sighed.

"Oh right—I still need to name this guy too…"

But this time—

Harry was smart.

He kept his distance while thinking of names.

Getting bitten by an eagle?

Yeah. No thanks.

"How about Optimus Prime? It suits you perfectly!"

"...Not interested? What, you'd rather be called Megatron? But that's a villain's name!"

After much negotiation, Harry discovered that the eagle only responded to one name—

"Hedwig."

"Seriously? That's so unoriginal..." Harry pouted.

He wasn't too excited about it,

But since all his other badass, cool names had been ignored,

He reluctantly accepted it.

At least the naming ordeal was finally over.

A Suspicious Discovery

Just then, Harry noticed that Hedwig's beak was stained with blood—

And a few feathers were stuck to it.

"Oi—so you just went and hunted on your own, huh?"

(Hedwig: You didn't feed me. What was I supposed to do—starve?)

Harry suddenly shuddered.

Wait… aren't owls known for eating mice?

Thank Merlin he hadn't bought an owl.

Imagine a bloody rat corpse being dropped onto his bed every morning.

That would be traumatizing.

Because of that horrific thought,

Harry decided to forgive Hedwig.

Attempting a Roll Call

Harry grinned mischievously.

"Alright, let's test something."

"Little Cutie..."

"Meow~"

"Little Cutie..."

"Meow~"

"Little Cutie..."

"..."

(No response.)

Harry: "..."

Embarrassing.

Turning to Hedwig—

"Hedwig..."

FWOOSH!

Hedwig immediately took off and flew away.

Harry facepalmed.

"So neither of you want to play with me, huh? Fine—I'll eat my feelings instead."

Breakfast & Plans

Harry headed downstairs,

Only to find that Tom the Barkeep wasn't awake yet.

Harry shook his head, sighed,

And left to have a feast in the Muggle world.

While eating, he started planning his day:

Morning: More exploring in Diagon Alley.

Afternoon: Studying, especially Magical Drafts and Potions.

Tomorrow: ...

The day after: Practicing basic spells until mastery.

And after that...

"Damn, this food is good. Waiter—another round of these two dishes!"

A Month of Learning

And so—

Harry's one-month study journey began.

Every morning:

Wake up to Little Cutie licking his face.

Feed her a fresh fish bought from a London supermarket.

Go for a run to Buckingham Palace and back.

Midday:

Buy meat for Hedwig.

Summon Hedwig and feed her.

Afternoon:

Practice spells.

Read books.

Take Little Cutie on walks in Diagon Alley.

As new students stopped shopping,

Diagon Alley gradually returned to normal.

The chaotic crowds disappeared,

Making it easier to explore freely.

The Mysterious Boy of Diagon Alley

Many shopkeepers began noticing a certain boy.

A child with calm eyes,

A silver tattoo-like mark on his forehead,

And an elegant demeanor beyond his years.

They often saw him wandering through different shops,

Sometimes carrying a pure white kitten in his arms.

Even when people asked for his name,

He simply smiled and shook his head.

Eventually, they stopped asking.

A month passed.

How much magic Harry had mastered—

Only he knew.

But maybe—

We can get a hint from the fact that even he was surprised by his own learning speed.

…Embarrassing Incidents

Of course, not everything went smoothly.

For instance:

One time, at Flourish and Blotts,

Harry used Accio to summon a book.

And accidentally collapsed an entire tower of books.

Another time, while experimenting in his room,

His face turned black from an explosion,

And his bed caught fire—

Earning him a soul-piercing glare from Tom the Barkeep.

Yeah…

Definitely some moments he'd rather not remember.

(Author's Note: Harry named his owl "Hedwig" for a reason. The name means "Guardian of Orphans.")
