Chapter 23: Chapter 22: The Fragrance of a Young Girl’s Lips
As Harry and Hermione ate, chatting casually, a loud argument suddenly erupted from Harry's left.
"Ron, it's all because of you that Gryffindor lost so many points today!" a boy snapped.
Ron muttered, "I didn't do it on purpose. Besides, didn't Harry earn the points back anyway?"
Harry took a bite of his pie, lowering his head slightly as the corner of his lips curled into a subtle, mocking smile.
Hermione shot him a glare. "Who pissed you off now? That smirk of yours looks downright villainous."
"Cough, cough—" Harry suddenly choked on his pie, his eyes rolling upward as if he were about to die on the spot.
Hermione panicked, completely at a loss. "Here, drink some water—quickly!" She hastily pushed her cup toward him.
Harry's face had turned red from lack of air. Grabbing the cup as if it were a lifeline, he gulped it down in one go.
Only after draining the cup did he finally exhale in relief—only to suddenly frown, his expression becoming oddly serious.
"This cup…"
"What about it?" Hermione asked, startled by his grave expression.
"This cup…" Harry closed his eyes, deep in thought, a mysterious smile playing on his lips. "It still carries the lingering fragrance of a young girl's lips… but whose, I wonder? If only I could see for myself… that would truly be—"
Hermione's face turned red, then black—completely black. With a voice dripping in menace, she muttered, "Mr. Potter… do you want to die?"
"H-haha, just kidding! Just kidding!" Harry wiped the sweat off his forehead. Good lord, that murderous aura…!
"Give me the cup." Hermione's voice was ice-cold.
"Here you go." Harry handed it to her.
——
Hermione's eyebrow twitched. Through clenched teeth, she spoke:
"Why. Haven't. You. Let. Go. Yet?"
Harry blinked innocently. "I did let go… maybe the cup's too heavy for you to—"
"Argh! Let go—no, let go with your mouth!!"
Hermione's patience snapped. Without thinking, she leaned forward, turned her head slightly, and—
Bit Harry's hand!
Startled, Harry instantly let go. Hermione snatched the cup away triumphantly.
"You actually bit me?!" Harry shook his hand, then held it up to examine the damage. On the back of his hand was a perfectly round set of teeth marks!
Harry blew on the mark instinctively, studying it up close—only to freeze.
There was a faint trace of moisture left behind… Hermione's saliva, no doubt. When she bit him, he had definitely felt something warm and wet…
Hermione followed his gaze and realized he was staring blankly at the bite mark.
Only then did it hit her—Wait. What did I just do?!
That was… too intimate, wasn't it?
Blushing, Hermione snapped, "What are you looking at?!"
"Uh… nothing! Really!" Harry swore.
Three days. For three days, I swear I won't wash my hand!
"Hmph! Anyway, what were you smirking about earlier?" Hermione, ever quick-witted, changed the subject.
"Oh, that…" Come to think of it, all of this started because of that damn smirk.
Just as Harry was about to explain, the argument beside them suddenly escalated.
"Look at how many points you've lost for Gryffindor since the term started!" the boy shouted at Ron.
BANG!
Ron snapped. He slammed his hands against the table and shot to his feet—sending a plate of sauce flying onto himself. Now covered in the mess, he looked utterly ridiculous.
"You're always criticizing me! Have you even looked at yourself? Haven't you been scolded tons of times in Potions?!"
"Say that again!" the boy growled.
"I'll say it as many times as I want! You think—"
Ron had clearly been hearing this kind of thing from too many people lately. All his pent-up frustration exploded at once.
"Enough! Stop fighting, or the Head of House is going to show up soon—" A short boy with glasses tried to calm them down.
But both Ron and the other boy shoved him aside—hard.
Neither of them expected him to actually fall.
The two locked eyes, each blaming the other—and just like that, war broke out!
No one knew who made the first move, but suddenly, they lunged at each other across the table, grappling in a messy brawl.
Students scrambled away to avoid the chaos as plates and utensils crashed to the floor, shattering on impact!
But then, both boys suddenly remembered—they were wizards.
At almost the same moment, both drew their wands and aimed them at each other!
The watching students immediately realized things were about to get serious. Panicked voices murmured all around, urging them to stop—until a gleeful voice rang out from afar:
"Come on, fight! Didn't think I'd get dinner and a show—don't tell me you're scared now?"
Who else could it be but Malfoy?
Ron and his opponent, who had seemed slightly hesitant before, steeled their resolve.
No way we're backing down in front of Malfoy!
Two 11-year-old boys, burning with childish pride, racked their brains for any attack spells they had learned.
However, before either could act, a sharp voice rang out—
"Expelliarmus!"
A forceful impact sent both boys staggering backward, their balance momentarily lost.
Before they could recover—
"Expelliarmus!"
Two streaks of light shot from Hermione's wand, hitting both Ron and his opponent squarely in their hands.
Their wands flew into the air and landed outside the gathered crowd.
The entire event had lasted barely two seconds.
The students who had been panicking just moments ago hadn't even processed what had happened yet.
That's it? It's over already?
They couldn't shake the feeling that something was… off.
Wait a minute… we weren't even ready yet!
Slowly, all heads turned to Hermione.
She was still holding up her wand, her expression unreadable.
The students who had been standing too close instinctively took a step back. That was terrifying!
As for Ron and his opponent—they stood frozen in shock, staring at their empty hands in utter confusion.
Where… where did my wand go?
The students had been startled, but now their hearts were racing for an entirely different reason.
This…
THIS was magic!
After weeks of classes, they had learned plenty about spells, but they had never truly seen magic used in a real confrontation.
And now—this scene…
Absolutely incredible!
Hermione was incredible!
Magic was incredible!
——
The crowd, which had unknowingly formed a loose circle, suddenly parted—
Harry walked into the center.
Ah, yes.
The protagonist always arrives last, don't you know?
Time for some moral education.
Harry looked at the two culprits. Under his gaze, they instinctively lowered their heads.
"Ron," Harry said calmly, "have you ever thought about what would happen if you actually dueled with magic today?
You'd both have been expelled from Hogwarts."
The color drained from their faces. They trembled.
"I won't say anything more. Just think about that," Harry said coolly.
From his sleeve, a portion of his wand peeked out.
Pointing at the mess on the floor, he muttered—
"Scourgify."
In an instant, the spilled food, shattered plates, and all other debris vanished—as if the entire scene had been wiped clean.
Gasp.
A ripple of shocked whispers spread through the crowd.
This spell… they had seen it before.
Snape often used it in Potions class.
But wasn't this… a high-level spell?!
——
"Let's go," Harry said to Hermione.
With that, Hermione followed behind him as they slowly walked out of the crowd.
As they passed Malfoy, Harry suddenly turned his head, flashing a cold, mocking smile.
"That's what you get for running your mouth."
Malfoy's instincts screamed at him to move. He tried to step back, but—
"Langlock."
A flash of light hit Malfoy.
"This spell will keep your tongue stuck to the roof of your mouth for the whole day."
Harry smirked wickedly.
"Oh, and if you go crying to a professor for help… well, you know what'll happen."
Malfoy's eyes widened in horror.
His mouth moved uselessly.
He wanted to scream. He really did.
But no words came out.
Not a single sound.
Why… WHY IS MY MOUTH SO DAMNED ANNOYING?!
