Chapter 595: Bound By A Resentful Fate
[HAWI]
"…I won't seek any titles because my knights already did a good job of that all I want to do is take a break, even though we all already know that wherever I am, a break is not something that could work," Hawi said and the wolves chuckled.
They knew that so well because wherever she went, trouble always had a way of finding her and it was just a matter of time. Perhaps this time, they would be there together, right?
They would find their common ground and not wallow in the losses that they wouldn't ever be able to manage with ease, right?
"So, until trouble comes to find me, I won't try to find it. I will be home and live normally. Hopefully, we can get at least three days before the chaos begins. And I know that there is also the question of what will happen, seeing as I am the rightful queen of the realm.
"All will be sorted in due time. Queen Kia has done a good job of running the kingdom, and I apologize for whatever she made you go through while I was away. I hear she has amnesia, so that could possibly be the reason why she tried to mess with what is mine.
"I honestly doubt she will try that again, but if she tries coming to Sicario like she did with you lot earlier, then I will fight her for you, no worries. You don't have to fight this alone, and you won't have to.
"Besides, just like you all said, I am not alone, and that applies to you too. Together we can make our home better. As for the question of my grief and my Ruru, I don't know how to begin, grief is a process, and while it has been three hundred years;
"...I can only hope you forgive me for any random tears you will see. At the end of the day, I am just a girl who lost everything and is trying to live through that emptiness with the people I love," Hawi said and they looked at her with kind eyes.
They understood her in ways that she hadn't thought possible.
Of course, she knew that the defense of Rukiya was not going to go unnoticed by her friend, but she was ready for that.
Adolf had spoken his truth and if ever the time came for Hawi to open up about the love of her life then she would without a second thought, but until then, she would do whatever she had done best.
She would protect Rukiya even if she had to do it with her life on the line.
"Let us all have a good evening. You are dismissed," Hawi said and the wolves bowed to her in unison. They all seemed to have the same idea in mind because the way they looked at her screamed understanding instead of hate or disappointment.
They had loved her, and they still did, that was the one thing that Hawi could graciously hold onto at the moment because otherwise, she wasn't sure if her life was hers to live or if she had to fight Islinda and her minions to make life better.

"Do you know Queen Kia personally?" Adolf asked once the wolves had completely gone and it was just the Savasci knights and the Russel siblings. The Russels had tried to excuse themselves but their mates had insisted that they stay.
After all, there was nothing they can do now that Hawi was back home. If they fucked up, Hawi was here to grind their brains down to ash and there was no one who would come to their defense.
"I don't know what you are talking about, Adolf," Hawi said and the beta wolf stared at her like he was studying her.
"You have never been a good liar, Hawi," Adolf said as he looked at her.
He saw that there was a storm in which she was hidden from them, something that they needed to know, and yet at the same time, it was something that they would wait for her to come clean to them about.
The only problem was that waiting for Hawi always never ended well, because the girl was so damn good at keeping secrets and forgetting about them.
"I have no need to lie to you. You are more than just warriors to me, and you know that too. If there is anything that needs you to be a part of or needs your awareness, I will definitely let you know.
"The queen is an amnesiac pawned by the goddess to the people of Olyana kingdom just because I was away grieving the love of my life. Of course, she would try to make sure that your life is hard because of how powerful the eight of you are.
"You did well, in holding your own against her, but there is no longer a need for that. If I have to step up and be the queen to make things right, then I will without question. But what you just know is that she won't hurt you again.
"I won't let her. Is that enough for you?" Hawi asked, and her tone was casual, as though she was just talking to them about this and not hiding the fact that the woman they were all hating right now was one of them, a knight of the Savasci team just like all of them.
Fate was a bitch, and that was the truth that Hawi had already learned, though a part of her hoped that regardless of what this would turn out to be, her mate would be safe.
"Well, if you say it like that, then it sounds okay. But I just want to let you know that we won't mind if you have secrets that you keep from us. You know we would die for you. We would do anything you want us to do for you.
"We would fight warts and burn packs for you without question. You are our master, Hawi, and no matter how curious we get, we will always have that at the back of our minds," Adolf said and Hawi chuckled as she looked at her team.
They were not saying much right now, but it was pretty obvious that they had been dealing with a lot since Hawi had left. She could only hope that representing me back home was a sleigh consolation for them.
"Now I understand why they wanted to stuff your mouth," Hawi said and they burst out laughing, the reality of their lives hitting them a little slower than Hawi had thought possible. However, right now, the only thing that mattered was that they were home.
"I'll go to bed now. If you need me, you know where to find me," Hawi said to her knights before she followed her wolves into the pack house. Her mind was still filled with Ruru, but this time she hoped that all would be well.
In her suite, Hawi's memories with Hawi hit her again, and this time, instead of trying to lock them out she let herself feel. She knew the mind links would be filled with her excitement too and that it would calm the wolves, so she didn't fight it.
Maybe she really should have fought it this time. And maybe that was the most unhinged of things that she did, because in her happiness, she unknowingly unlocked the mind link that bound her to Rukiya Greyson.
