Chapter 443: Chapter 443: Can You Hold Back?

Two cars stopped in front of a small gymnasium. Matthew and Elena Boyar got out of the first car, while James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender exited the second one. They met up and walked towards the gymnasium.

"There are a lot of people," Michael Fassbender observed as they walked. Many people were queuing up at the entrance. "It looks like the people in line are just regular fans."

Matthew also looked towards the gym entrance. They were heading to the VIP entrance, guarded by security personnel. Only those with invitations could enter here. On the other side was the regular audience entrance, where tickets were required for entry.

Indeed, this so-called "Angry Little Treasure" boxing match, named by Elena Boyar on TMZ, had garnered widespread media coverage. A professional company had taken over the event's operations, moving it from Toronto to a professional indoor gymnasium in Los Angeles, attracting advertising sponsors and selling tickets to the public.

Judging by the long queue at the entrance, Uwe Boll not only gained considerable fame but also likely earned a substantial income from this event.

The four of them arrived at the VIP entrance, had their invitations checked by security, and walked along the red carpet into the gymnasium. As VIP guests, their seats were in the front row, close to the main stage. At Matthew's request, the four seats were together.

Matthew sat on the far left, followed by Elena Boyar, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender. Seated, Matthew glanced around. Near his side of the venue, a boxing ring had been set up, complete with all the necessary equipment, looking no different from a professional boxing match.

He then looked towards the audience, estimating the gymnasium could hold thousands of spectators, with an occupancy rate of about fifty percent.

"It seems many people are interested in this boxing match," Matthew said to Elena Boyar on his right.

Elena Boyar, from her perspective as an entertainment journalist, said, "Uwe Boll may direct terrible films, but he does have fans." She laughed, adding, "Of course, more people dislike him. He ruined the adaptations of 'BloodRayne' and 'Dungeon Siege,' so many probably know his name and want to see what kind of person he is."

Matthew nodded, "Bad fame is still fame."

"Exactly," Elena Boyar agreed. "For directors and actors, the worst thing is not having any fame at all."

Just then, a man and a woman approached from Matthew's left. The man was the slightly chubby Leonardo DiCaprio, and the woman was a blonde with long legs, clearly a model by her posture.

Their seats were right next to Matthew's.

Matthew didn't expect to see Leonardo DiCaprio here. They had met at Keanu Reeves' house. He greeted, "Hi, Leo."

Leonardo DiCaprio also noticed Matthew and responded with a smile, "Hi, Matthew." He took off his baseball cap and pointed towards the boxing ring. "You're interested in this match too?"

As he spoke, Leonardo DiCaprio sat down next to Matthew.

Matthew shrugged slightly, "Aren't you also interested?"

Leonardo DiCaprio laughed heartily, clearly in high spirits. Then he lowered his voice slightly and said, "Since 'Titanic,' I've been constantly criticized by those critics. Now I can see the critics in trouble. I definitely can't miss this."

"Absolutely!" Matthew gave him a thumbs up. "Such a good opportunity can't be missed."

He smiled, "I've been criticized by critics a lot too. I also want to see them get in trouble."

In recent years, he had risen rapidly, starring in action films and generally playing cool roles, which naturally received harsh evaluations from most critics.

"You're not the only ones who dislike critics," said the blonde companion of Leonardo DiCaprio, looking ahead. "Tom Cruise is here too."

Following her direction, Matthew saw Tom Cruise and his fiancée Katie Holmes arriving. Their seats, however, were a bit far.

Clearly, many stars dislike critics.

Tom Cruise has probably endured more criticism from film critics over the years than both Matthew and Leonardo DiCaprio combined.

Matthew looked back at Leonardo DiCaprio and said, "Leo, aren't you going to introduce us?"

"Oops, almost forgot," Leonardo DiCaprio lightly slapped his forehead and introduced them. "Matthew, this is Bar Refaeli, my girlfriend. Bar, this is Matthew Horner, the hottest star in Hollywood right now."

"You're exaggerating, Leo," Matthew said, exchanging pleasantries before shaking hands with Bar Refaeli, who offered her hand. He asked, "May I ask, are you a model?"

Bar Refaeli smiled and nodded, "Yes, I'm currently signed with 'Sports Illustrated.'"

Matthew felt a sense of confirmation. Leonardo DiCaprio's taste hasn't changed.

After greeting Bar Refaeli, Matthew politely introduced Elena Boyar, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Leonardo DiCaprio was a bit surprised to see Elena Boyar. He had heard of her and knew she wasn't a simple woman. He didn't expect one of TMZ's top executives to be so closely associated with Matthew Horner.

Instantly, he thought of more. His manager had mentioned before that TMZ's reports on Matthew Horner, even the scandalous ones, were actually favorable towards him.

It was probably thanks to this woman.

TMZ is no longer an ordinary website; it is now the number one gossip site.

Suddenly, the gym erupted in cheers, followed by chaotic noise. Four critics wearing protective gear entered the ring one by one, introduced by a host.

However, the names of these critics were unfamiliar to Matthew.

In the world of film criticism, seniority is crucial. Most well-known critics are over forty, and such seasoned critics wouldn't come to box with Uwe Boll.

Then, the "Angry Little Treasure" appeared!

Unlike the critics wearing protective gear, Uwe Boll wore black boxing attire with no headgear. Although the German director looked somewhat sleazy, he appeared robust, with clearly trained muscles.

"These four guys are in trouble!" Leonardo DiCaprio said excitedly to Matthew. "I heard that Uwe Boll has about ten years of amateur boxing experience."

Matthew looked with interest at Uwe Boll approaching the ring under the lights, saying, "This will be interesting."

Elena Boyar interjected, "According to reliable sources, the company promoting this event told the participating critics that this is just a publicity stunt and wouldn't involve real fighting."

Leonardo DiCaprio immediately frowned, "What's the point then? I'm going to complain!"

He came here specifically to see critics get beaten up.

"Hold on, Leo," Matthew said, thinking it wasn't that simple. "I've dealt with Uwe Boll before. He's... how should I put it?"

He recalled Uwe Boll's words when inviting him to star in "Dungeon Siege" in Germany and said, "Uwe Boll is very thick-skinned and shameless, often using grand excuses to cover his despicable side."

As soon as he said this, Elena Boyar leaned in and whispered in his ear, "Are you sure you're not describing yourself?"

Matthew turned to glare at her, and Elena Boyar deliberately winked at him.

"Oh?" Leonardo DiCaprio said, "Matthew, do you mean Uwe Boll might actually fight?"

Matthew nodded, "I think it's highly likely." He analyzed, "Leo, when critics insult you, don't you want to hit them?"

Leonardo DiCaprio scoffed, "A few critics offer fair opinions, but most just use sharp and harsh insults. If murder were legal, they'd all be dead by now!"

"I feel the same!" As his fame grew, Matthew had been criticized no less than Leonardo DiCaprio. Critics often used harsh words to mock the hottest stars, which was understandable. Mocking the most famous people brought attention, otherwise, how many people would pay attention to critics?

Matthew continued, "Critics may mock and insult us, but they never said we're the worst actors ever, right?"

Leonardo DiCaprio nodded.

"Even so, we want to hit those critics," Matthew continued. "Many critics truly call Uwe Boll the worst director ever. Can he hold back? This German director doesn't look like a good-tempered person."
