THE SECOND CHANCE 1

Chapter 5: Whispers in the Dark

The hero takes her bag and hands it to her. She accepts it, and they both leave the place. They walk along the side road, where people normally walk. Neither of them says anything. They walk in silence. The girl is still in fear.

The hero notices a park and says, "We're going to the park."

The girl looks at him, surprised, and says, "A park? at this time?"

She then adds, "It's already late. My parents will definitely start searching for me."

The hero hears this and shakes his head, then says, "Yeah, just follow me."

He walks into the park, and the girl, unsure of what to do but feeling that she'll be safe with him in this moment, follows him inside.

They both enter the park. It's quiet since it's so late, and there's no one around. The hero walks ahead, looking for a place with water, like a tap or something. He finds a spot, and she follows him. She notices there's no one else around, and she just keeps following him.

Suddenly, she grabs the hero's hand. He's surprised by the sudden action. He stops and looks at her slowly.

"What happened?" he asks calmly.

She's still scared, her voice trembling, and says, "The red eyes…."

He looks around in the distance and sees glowing red lights far away. He realizes it's just some random red lights. He reassures her, "It's just some random lights. What do you mean by 'red eyes'?"

Even though he says this, he understands she's still afraid from what she saw earlier. He thinks to himself, So she also saw that evil thing.

Trying to calm her, he adds, "Don't worry, you're safe now."

She looks at the lights and then back at him. She slowly lets go of his hand and says, "I'm sorry… I didn't mean to grab your hand. I just…"

She feels embarrassed and shy, but the hero reassures her, "No problem, it's fine."

He starts walking again, and she follows him quietly.

While walking, the girl notices her face feels slightly flushed, realizing she feels shy because she grabbed hero's hand earlier. She follows him, feeling shy about what she did. She then asks him, "Can you tell me where we're going? Why did we come to the park at this time?"

Hero doesn't answer her question. He just continues walking, looking for a water source. She follows him, then asks again, "I'm talking to you, are you listening to me?"

As she walks, she thinks to herself, He's acting so strange. Am I trusting the wrong person? But then she reminds herself, He's the one who saved me, so he's not a bad person. But what is his reason for bringing me here?

While walking, she suddenly stops, surprised. She notices that hero is washing the blood off his shoes. She watches him and quietly thinks to herself, So, that's why.

Hero crouched near the water and started cleaning his shoes and the blood on his clothes. His clothes were black, so the blood didn't show much in the dark, but he still wiped them.

She stood nearby, watching him. After a moment, she asked, "If this is why you came here, why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Hero didn't answer right away. She hesitated, then asked again, "Are you ignoring me? Is it because I grabbed your arm earlier? Are you mad at me for that?" Her voice was quiet, and she looked unsure.

Hero paused, looked at her, and said, "No, I'm not mad. I was just thinking about something, that's all. Sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you."

She looked a little relieved as he went back to cleaning. When he was done, he stood up and said, "Now it's your turn. You need to clean your shoes and clothes. If you don't and go home like this, your parents will notice the blood, and they'll panic. If a stranger sees, it'll be even worse for us."

She looked down and noticed the blood on her shirt, shoes, and even her hair. She remembered how the blood had splattered earlier when the heart was crushed.

"You're lucky no one saw you like this while we were walking," Hero said. "It's so late that no one was around, but now you need to clean it."

She nodded quietly. Hero pointed to a bench nearby and said, "I'll wait for you over there."

He walked to the bench, sat down, and took the broken headset out of his bag. While checking the headset, he kept an eye on her, making sure she was okay while she cleaned herself.

While cleaning her shoes and clothes, she noticed the water turning red as it mixed with the blood and flowed away. She paused, staring at it, and thought to herself, I feel like one of those people in movies, cleaning up evidence after a murder. she continued cleaning as much as she could.

She cleaned until there was nothing more she could do.

[ After some minutes... ]

Hero, sitting at a distance, noticed her movements. Is she trying to call me? he wondered. He grabbed his bag and got up, walking toward her.

When he reached her, he saw her standing there. Her posture looked uneasy, and she didn't turn to face him.

As Hero walked closer to her, she suddenly said in an uneasy voice, "Don't come close. Don't come close."

He stopped, feeling confused. Why is she acting like this? he thought to himself.

"What happened to you? Why are you acting so strange?" he asked calmly. "Did you clean the blood? Can we move on now?"

She hesitated for a moment before saying shyly, her voice trembling, "There's something… something happened, and I don't know how to say it to you. But… I need your help."

Hero looked at her, still puzzled. "What is it? Just tell me."

Blushing deeply and avoiding his gaze, she continued, "I… I don't know how to explain this… But I just need your help. Can you… Can you please give me your coat? I'll return it tomorrow after washing it for you. I also brought you a new headset, so I'll give that to you too. Just… please don't ask any questions right now."

He raised an eyebrow, realizing something was bothering her deeply. Before he could say anything, she whispered to herself shyly, "Because of over-washing, my shirt got wet… I can't walk around like this. I just can't."

he removed his coat and handed it to her. "Here. Put it on," he said.

Blushing even more, she quickly said, "Just… put it down there. I'll take it myself."

He placed the coat on the ground near her and stepped back, giving her some space.

Hero walked back to the spot where he had been standing earlier. He stood still, facing away from her, looking off into the distance, giving her privacy.

She picked up the coat he had left on the ground, her hands trembling slightly. As she put it on, she whispered to herself, "What do I do? What do I do? I don't know how to handle this…" Her face turned bright red with embarrassment as she shook nervously, overwhelmed by the situation.

After putting on the coat, she hesitated for a moment before walking up to him. Avoiding his gaze and looking down or off to the side, she shyly said, "Now we can go."

Her voice was soft and timid, and her cheeks were still flushed. Without waiting for a response, she started walking beside him, her eyes fixed elsewhere to avoid his face.

As they walked, she was lost in her thoughts, replaying everything that had happened. She glanced around, her mind filled with nervousness and the memory of the situation. Hero walked silently beside her, matching her pace.

They left the park together, walking side by side under the quiet night sky.

As they walked, they both noticed a vending machine nearby. Hero walked up to it and bought himself a juice. Turning to her, he asked, "What do you want?"

She hesitated for a moment, then stepped closer to the vending machine. Gently placing her fingers on the glass, she pointed and said, "This one."

He nodded, selected the drink, and handed it to her. She took it and said softly, "Thanks for the juice."

He said nothing in response, and they both started walking again, sipping their drinks.

After a while, they reached a spot where she suddenly stopped. Pointing to a house in the distance, she said, "From here, I can go on my own. That's my house."

She turned to him, her voice a little nervous. "Thank you for coming with me this far and helping me so much."

There was a brief pause before she added, "I also need to return your coat and the headset... Could you give me your number? I'll give it back tomorrow or... maybe the day after tomorrow."

Her voice rose slightly at the end, and Hero turned to look at her. She glanced at him, but her face quickly turned red, and she looked away, avoiding his gaze.

He thought for a moment and then said, "Okay. Give me your phone."

She handed it to him, and he saved his number in her contacts. Handing it back, he said, "This is my number. Save it however you want."

She took the phone, her face still flushed, and quickly saved his number.

She saved his number on her phone, hesitating for a moment before looking up at him. "Um, okay... so, then I'll meet you later," she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of shyness.

Hero nodded slightly, his expression unreadable. "Um," he said simply before turning and walking away without another word.

She stood there for a moment, watching him leave, her thoughts swirling. she turned around and began walking toward her house, her steps slow.
