Chapter 30 Suppression_2
"Douglas," Prince Charles spoke up at that time, saying, "That's enough."
Douglas's identity was at stake in arguing here with a librarian; he had already lost, as a noble engaged in a confrontation with a girl, damaging his image.
"Yes," Douglas's energy light converged, while Zero continued to stare at him coldly.
"Douglas, you're also just a student. The school will naturally take care of school matters. Do your part well," Prince Charles said.
"Understood." Douglas nodded, then turned to the school leadership and said, "I was impulsive."
"No harm done, young man, led by emotions," the school leader responded indifferently, using youth as an excuse to defuse the awkward situation.
"The library is so big that it might take quite some time to tour," Prince Charles shifted the topic, then turned and left without looking back at Xu Mo and the others.
Ize and Carter looked at Xu Mo. Although no battle had erupted from this conflict, they had now offended Prince Charles, and it was uncertain if there would be trouble.
After they left, Xu Mo watched Douglas's retreating figure, thinking that it would have been fine if he only meant to humiliate him. This proud noble—ordering Zero to behave?
Since when was it his turn to meddle in Zero's affairs?
"Have I caused trouble?" Zero asked Xu Mo.
"Idiot." Xu Mo looked at Zero and smiled, saying, "When did you learn to curse?"
Zero had just called Douglas an idiot.
"Then what should I say when I'm angry?" Zero had actually been very angry but didn't know what to say, so the only thing that came to mind was cursing.
"......." Xu Mo looked at Zero's innocent face.
So, he draws his sword when angry with him, but curses others when angry with them?
He has a gift.
......
Only a few people from the library knew about the incident that had occurred here; it had not spread elsewhere. Later news reports emerged, but they only mentioned Prince Charles's visit to his alma mater and his tour of the library, without a word about the conflict.
If there were no further events, it would just show Prince Charles's sympathy for the lower classes, seeking to help a librarian. But Zero broke that atmosphere.
The communicators on Lucas Star were slightly more advanced, able to project holographic images for browsing information.
Xu Mo swiped his finger, shutting down the holographic newsfeed, then replied to Ize, "I saw it."
"Be careful of Douglas seeking revenge," Ize warned.
"I know," Xu Mo responded. Revenge from Douglas?
He too took note of this debt.
It seemed that Sal's beating hadn't been severe enough, prompting him to seek trouble proactively.
Then, a number appeared on the screen projected by the communicator. Xu Mo answered, "Mr. Lucas."
It was the librarian who had recruited him.
"Xu Mo, what's going on? Have you offended someone?" Mr. Lucas asked.
"Mr. Lucas, what happened?" Xu Mo inquired.
"Someone has complained that you're exploiting your position as a librarian to approach female students, calling your conduct into question. The school has gotten involved," Mr. Lucas explained.
Xu Mo furrowed his brow. Such a swift move.
Couldn't even let go of a librarian's job?
"This afternoon, when Prince Charles visited the library, there was a minor conflict with one of his students," Xu Mo said. "If it causes trouble for Mr. Lucas, then I'll resign."
"No wonder the school got involved," Mr. Lucas said. "But did you do what they're accusing you of?"
"Does it count if the student came to me on her own initiative?" Xu Mo asked.
"Of course not, I mean, have you crossed any lines?" Mr. Lucas asked.
"No," Xu Mo replied.
"Then there's no issue. No one at the school has the right to fire you without cause. Leave it to me; just focus on your work," Mr. Lucas stated.
"Thank you, Mr. Lucas," Xu Mo responded, after which Mr. Lucas hung up the communicator.
After the call, Xu Mo wore a thoughtful expression.
Had this targeting been Douglas's doing, or was Prince Charles involved?
As a librarian, his status was far removed from Prince Charles's; in truth, there was no need for the prince to target him. The incident at the library was merely directed at Eliza, and he was just collateral, a backdrop.
Regardless, he had now offended Prince Charles.
"It's been some days since I visited Eliza," Xu Mo thought internally, then donned his armor and left the room, stepping into the night.
Eliza's mood was terrible today.
She shouldn't have appeared alongside Charles today.
Although Charles had always been polite, his words were filled with subtle suppressions towards her, making her feel extremely uncomfortable. Without waiting for the banquet to end, she left alone and returned to the palace.
At that moment, a disturbance came from outside, and Eliza's gaze shifted in that direction. She then saw a figure walking in.
Eliza's face lit up with surprise; she stood up from her chair and exclaimed, "Sir."
She hadn't thought Xu Mo would show up again.
It had been days since his last visit.
"Eliza," Xu Mo's hoarse voice rang out. "How has your strength improved these past days?"
"Would you like to test me, sir?" Eliza asked.
"Get your gear," Xu Mo nodded.
Eliza donned her gear and returned, her Source Power Field erupting. She then charged at Xu Mo, releasing pure white Energy Light. Her sword slashed towards Xu Mo.
Xu Mo stood still, blocking Eliza's attack, then struck back, and with a thunderous impact... the powerful Force sent Eliza flying backward.
