Chapter 329: Long Hair Enthusiast
Seeing Eriri emerge from the world portal, Nodoka Haramura immediately rose from her seat and went to greet her.
"Eriri, you're here," Nodoka said with a bright smile.
Eriri's sudden arrival was a pleasant surprise for Nodoka, as Eriri hadn't notified her in the chat group beforehand.
"Mm-hmm," Eriri nodded with a smile. Noticing the ongoing mahjong game at the table, she reached out to stroke Nodoka's soft pink hair and asked, "Nodoka, have you all had lunch yet?"
Nodoka shook her head. "Not yet. We planned to go after finishing this round."
"Is that so? Well, I brought some food. Would you all like to try it?" Eriri asked, glancing at the others—Hisa Takei, Saki Miyanaga, and the others who had stood up to greet her. The sole male in the group, Kyoutarou Suga, was completely ignored by Eriri.
At Eriri's words, Yuuki Kataoka's eyes lit up with anticipation. "Food?! Eriri, is it the cooking made by Aoi-senpai?"
During the Martial Arts Tournament, Nodoka and the others had spent time with Eriri and her group playing mahjong, which gave them opportunities to interact. As Eriri's exclusive maid, Aoi Kujo had also left a deep impression on Yuuki and the others.
"That's right. Want some?" Eriri smiled, withdrawing her hand from Nodoka's hair and pulling out a set of carefully prepared bento boxes from her storage space. They were filled with food she had specifically asked Aoi to prepare for lunch.
Even though Eriri didn't particularly care for Kyoutarou Suga, she wasn't petty enough to exclude him intentionally. Sharing lunch with him as part of the group wasn't a problem.
"Yes, yes, of course we do! Aoi-senpai's cooking is even better than tacos!" Yuuki nodded fervently, her excitement evident. Thinking about the meals she hadn't had in almost half a month, she couldn't help but drool slightly.
"Hehe, we're in for a treat," Hisa said with a chuckle. "Eriri, welcome to the Kiyosumi High School Mahjong Club."
Saki Miyanaga and Mako Someya stood behind Nodoka, nervously greeting Eriri as well. Their gazes were fixed on the exquisite bento boxes floating above Eriri's palm. Since the containers were sealed, the aroma of the food hadn't escaped, but that didn't dampen their anticipation. They were well aware that any dish prepared by Aoi Kujo was guaranteed to be delicious.
"Alright, no need to rush. Finish your mahjong game first, and then we'll have lunch," Eriri said with a gentle smile, putting the bento boxes back into her storage space for the time being.
Disappointed but understanding, Saki and the others turned their attention back to the game. Despite their eagerness, they knew they had to finish their current match first.
"Nodoka, let's finish this round quickly. I can't wait anymore," Yuuki said excitedly, sitting back down and looking at Nodoka's back with an eager expression.
"Alright, Eriri, I'll go back to playing mahjong now," Nodoka Haramura said to Eriri before turning around and returning to her seat.
The mahjong game quickly resumed.
Meanwhile, Kyoutarou Suga, standing beside Hisa Takei, remained in a dazed state, showing no signs of snapping out of it.
Ever since Eriri had emerged from the world portal, he had been utterly captivated. From the very first moment he laid eyes on her, he was struck by her beauty, as if a magnitude ten earthquake had shaken his entire being.
Although he had heard Yuuki Kataoka talk about the numerous stunningly beautiful women they had seen during the Martial Arts Tournament, he hadn't imagined that someone could be this breathtaking.
When Nodoka and the others had gone to participate in the Martial Arts Tournament, Kyoutarou, as a member of the same club, was naturally aware of it.
He had even wanted to join them, but Nodoka refused his request because of the rules Eriri had specified.
After they returned, Yuuki excitedly told him all about the events of that week.
As a result, Kyoutarou wasn't surprised by the sudden appearance of the world portal or Eriri's ability to conjure objects out of thin air.
Of course, at this moment, he was too overwhelmed by Eriri's beauty to notice what she had said earlier or her demonstration of retrieving items from nowhere.
"Kyoutarou, snap out of it," Hisa Takei said, patting him on the shoulder and whispering in his ear. "Don't get any ideas, and don't stare. Eriri might seem approachable, but she doesn't take kindly to guys. I'd rather not have one of my club members end up in trouble."
Hisa was well aware of Eriri's charm. Even women found it hard not to be captivated by her beauty, let alone a first-year high school boy like Kyoutarou.
She also knew that Eriri seemed to have some aversion to men. Although no one had explicitly mentioned it, Hisa's observations during their week in the other world had led her to this conclusion.
If Eriri weren't so averse to men, why would she create a world that barred their entry?
Moreover, Hisa had seen how close Eriri was with the girls around her, leading her to speculate about Eriri's preferences.
Hisa couldn't help but wonder if letting Kyoutarou stay in the clubroom at this time was a mistake, especially since she knew from Nodoka that Eriri would be visiting.
Eriri, of course, heard Hisa's whispered words perfectly. However, she didn't react.
Although she disliked being stared at by men, she wasn't so extreme as to act against Kyoutarou. The key factor was that his gaze, while awestruck, wasn't malicious.
If it had been, Kyoutarou would have already turned to ash.
Nodoka and the others, meanwhile, were fully focused on their mahjong game and didn't notice what was happening between Hisa and Kyoutarou.
Hisa's pat and her words snapped Kyoutarou out of his daze.
He broke out in a cold sweat and quickly averted his gaze, not daring to look at Eriri again.
He had heard from Yuuki about the godlike, destructive powers displayed by the group members during the tournament. The fear of accidentally offending someone and facing dire consequences was palpable.
While he enjoyed admiring beautiful girls from a distance, Kyoutarou had enough self-awareness to know when someone was entirely out of his league.
...
About half an hour later, Nodoka Haramura and the others finally finished their mahjong game, with Nodoka securing first place by a margin of over ten thousand points ahead of the second place.
Once the game ended, the first thing they did wasn't to review their performance or analyze the match but to eagerly gather around Eriri. Like fledgling birds waiting to be fed, they gazed at her expectantly.
"Eriri, can we eat lunch now?" Yuuki Kataoka asked with anticipation.
"Of course," Eriri replied with a smile.
She waved her hand lightly over an empty space next to the mahjong table, and a square wooden table materialized there. She then retrieved the earlier meal box from her storage space and placed it on the table.
"Alright, you can open it and dig in now. It's just past one o'clock, so it's not too late for lunch," Eriri said.
Hearing this, Yuuki rushed over to the table and eagerly opened the lid of the meal box. As soon as the lid was lifted, an incredibly enticing aroma burst forth, causing everyone present, except for Eriri, to swallow hard.
"Ah, this aroma! I haven't smelled it in almost half a month!" Mako Someya said, adjusting her glasses and looking excitedly at the food in the first compartment of the meal box.
Yuuki quickly removed the food from each compartment, placing the dishes neatly on the table. Soon, a sumptuous feast was laid out before the members of the Kiyosumi's Mahjong Club.
Without hesitation, the group eagerly began eating. Thankfully, they maintained proper table manners, avoiding any scramble for food. Had there been such a commotion, Eriri would have pulled Nodoka aside and prepared a separate meal for her instead.
…
It was Saturday, and apart from some club members coming to school for activities, the campus was mostly empty.
With Eriri's visit, the Mahjong Club members decided to wrap up their activities for the day after lunch. Though the county preliminaries were scheduled for the next day, they were fully confident in their ability to advance through the preliminaries and head to the national tournament.
After leaving Kiyosumi High School, Eriri wandered around the streets of the town, led by Nodoka. Meanwhile, Hisa Takei and the others parted ways at the school gate, each heading home.
By this time, Eriri had changed out of her kimono and into a Kiyosumi High School uniform, having transformed her kimono into this outfit.
The uniform consisted of a white blouse and a blue pleated skirt, with a long red ribbon tied at the collar. Her slender legs were encased in thigh-high white stockings like Nodoka's, and she wore a pair of brown leather shoes.
She looked every bit like a first-year student at Kiyosumi High School.
Her long golden hair was casually tied into a low ponytail with a pink bow, trailing along the ground.
Nagano Prefecture, being an agricultural region, naturally couldn't compare to cities like Tokyo in terms of development, let alone this small town within Nagano.
Eriri and Nodoka Haramura walked leisurely along a pastoral street, flanked by rusted railings. Beyond the railings lay a stretch of green trees, interspersed with clusters of old-fashioned two-story houses.
The road was quiet, with few vehicles passing by and even fewer pedestrians. This was likely because it was the weekend; on a weekday, there would likely be even fewer people around.
Two beautiful girls dressed in high school uniforms walking down the main road naturally drew attention. Nodoka was used to receiving stares on her way to school, as her striking appearance and impressive figure often attracted the gaze of passersby.
In the mahjong world, Nodoka was something of a celebrity. As the champion of last year's national middle school mahjong individual tournament, she had been the subject of numerous media reports. Coupled with her exceptional beauty and strikingly curvaceous figure, she had earned quite the following.
But now, all the passersby who noticed them directed their attention solely at Eriri. Even the appeal of Nodoka's famously ample chest paled in comparison to Eriri's magnetic presence.
Eriri and Nodoka paid no heed to the stares. They were happily chatting and joking as they walked.
"Your hair is so beautiful, Eriri. Do you really like long hair?" Nodoka asked as she stood behind Eriri, running her hands through Eriri's golden locks. Her eyes sparkled with admiration.
The strands, smoother than silk, slid effortlessly through her fingers, catching the sunlight and shimmering with a dazzling golden glow. A subtle, intoxicating fragrance emanated from the hair, adding to its allure.
Nodoka had been curious about this for some time, as Eriri's hair was exceptionally long—reaching just past her waist.
Eriri stood about 160 centimeters tall, and her hair, while not overly excessive, still extended a bit lower than her waist. It was among the longest hair Nodoka had ever seen, and what made it even more remarkable was how meticulously maintained it was. The glossy, golden locks were stunningly beautiful, something that even made Nodoka a little envious.
"Yep, I'm a bona fide long-hair enthusiast," Eriri replied with a light laugh.
Because of her preferences, even Megumi Kato, who once sported a bob cut, had begun growing out her hair. In fact, none of the people around Eriri had short hair—except for small children. Even Athena, after adopting her youthful form, had a head of gorgeous silver hair that reached her mid-back.
"I see…" Nodoka murmured thoughtfully, nodding.
Her own hair, which already reached her waist, was long enough to fit Eriri's preferences.
Back when she was an ordinary person, maintaining long hair had been a hassle. But as a transcendent being, caring for it had become effortless. The energy coursing through her body not only strengthened her but also nourished her hair, making it far more lustrous than before.
"Maybe I could grow it out just a little more…" Nodoka mused internally.
With her current strength, having slightly longer hair wouldn't hinder her in the slightest.
More importantly, Eriri liked long hair…
With this thought, Nodoka made up her mind.
"Alright, I'll grow my hair out a bit longer," she said.
Eriri was momentarily stunned, then turned to look at Nodoka's delicate face. A joyful smile spread across her own.
"Mm, then grow it out," Eriri encouraged warmly.
