The Supreme Overlord (Multicross)

Chapter 41: 40 God and Queen

"Calm down, Natuski-chan."

Saigou's demeanor remained as unhurried as ever, as if there were no urgency in the world that could disturb his grace. He set aside the book he had been reading, stood up, and offered a few soothing words to the fuming Natsuki Minamiya.

Natsuki's gaze fell on the book in Saigou's hands, titled On the Genealogy of Morals.

This book was not from this world, at least not one Natsuki had encountered before. She had perused its contents, and it turned out to be a critique of traditional moral values such as good and evil, and right and wrong.

The book espoused a superhuman philosophy that distinguished between the strong and the weak. According to it, the strong's values are divided into good and bad, while the weak's values are classified as good and evil.

The strong deny the weak, thus labeling them as bad, while the weak fear the powerful and define them as evil.

In some respects, this moral and value system is quite ruthless.

"To be honest, I didn't anticipate dragging this out for three years."

Saigou leisurely prepared cups of tea for both Natsuki and himself using the hotel's tea set and setting them on the coffee table.

Initially, Saigou had intended to resolve matters in this world quickly, as he needed to return to the Nazarick and couldn't afford to linger here.

However, he discovered that the passage of time between worlds was markedly different. While he was in one world, he could affect the flow of time using a concept akin to relativity.

This effect might stem from the Mother of Evil Gods's authority or the world's inherent laws.

Though Saigou didn't have a definitive conclusion at present, the results were favorable to him.

For instance, three years had passed in this world, but only a brief moment had elapsed in the Nazarick.

Given this situation, to maximize his nourishment, it was best to remain in this world as long as possible.

As long as the contract was in place, he could continuously draw sustenance.

Realizing this, Saigou had relaxed, taking his time to enjoy his nurturing game.

Moreover, Saigou found himself quite fond of the world Natsuki inhabited.

Once, Saigou had lived in a world of modern technology and was accustomed to its conveniences. Now, in a world of swords and sorcery, he found the modern world's charm superior for passing the time.

The only regret was Aya Tokoyogi; Saigou had promised her release from the Prison Barrier within a few months.

Ultimately, Saigou had deceived her for three full years, but he felt no remorse; devils were, after all, the embodiment of deceit.

"Here, Natuski-chan, take a look at this information."

Saigou handed over a set of documents he had prepared earlier.

Natsuki snatched the papers from Saigou's hand, her demeanor resolute.

After a quick scan of the contents, she furrowed her brows and asked, "…Cleansing?"

She had seen this information before when the database had been opened to her on Itogami Island.

It was from this database that Natsuki had learned that the so-called Cleansing differed from external rumors.

It wasn't a relic but rather a formidable spell.

"Yes, precisely— Cleansing."

"You should understand that this Cleansing is a spell capable of 'distorting the natural order.' Given your intelligence, Natuski-chan, I trust you can infer the method I am suggesting."

Saigou took a sip of his red tea, smiling amiably as he spoke.

"You're suggesting activating the Great Cleansing to forcibly distort the will of both humans and demons, thereby achieving 'peaceful coexistence between humans and demons'?"

Natsuki's azure eyes widened in shock, her voice faltering.

With her keen mind, she could easily deduce Saigou's proposal.

"Correct. As a reward, here's a cup of tea I brewed myself!"

Saigou pushed the other cup of tea towards Natsuki.

"No, this method is absolutely unacceptable. I refuse to fulfill my wish by forcibly distorting others' wills!"

Natsuki rejected the proposal, though her refusal lacked conviction.

"Distorting wills? No, no, no. If the Cleansing truly possesses the power to 'alter the natural order,' then it is not merely about distorting the will of humans and demons."

"On the contrary, it would become a natural law and truth, much like how apples fall to the ground rather than ascend to the sky, and how humans inevitably face death."

"We are not changing human perspectives; we are altering the laws of the world itself!"

"This is the only method available to you, Natuski! You should know that your pitiful wish is forever unattainable."

"Humans and demons alike cannot achieve peace within their own kind, let alone between two different races."

Saigou spoke with his usual calm, knowing full well that Natsuki had no real choice; this was her sole option.

"You are merely a witch with a lifespan of no more than a hundred years. If your contract is not fulfilled upon your death, darkness and evil will engulf this world."

"…By then, no living being will remain, and that is the contract you made with the Great Lord."

"And now, the only way to save the world lies before you. Are you truly willing to sacrifice all the lives in the world for your own selfish desires?"

Saigou, with his demonic cunning, placed the fate of all life in the world on one side of the scale against Natsuki's 'selfish' wishes.

He twisted the concept to make Natsuki believe that she would be responsible for the deaths of all.

This left Natsuki with no real choice; if her actions led to the destruction of all life, it would shatter her soul.

Indeed, Natsuki's fingers clenched the papers, wrinkling them with force. Veins bulged on the back of her pale hands, and sweat formed on her forehead, revealing the intensity of her inner struggle.

The devil was right; her wish was indeed unattainable.

And since the wish was the contract, failure to fulfill it meant the world's destruction.

In such a situation, there was no point in obsessing over the means; achieving the result was what mattered most.

Natsuki was not an idealist but a realist. At this moment, she understood that her stubbornness was futile.

With a resigned sigh, she slumped into her chair and said, "…You win, devil!"

"…As you said, this is a proposal I cannot refuse."

Saigou showed no triumph. He simply spoke in a tone that left no room for refusal:

"…The data reveals that Itogami Island is connected to the Cleansing. The management council of the Itogami island has now become the greatest obstacle."

"If you continue to obey the island management, you will never fulfill your tragic wish."

"…Abandon the so-called Prison Barrier. Disregard the commands of those humans. Eliminate the island management council and take control of the island yourself."

"Just like the three Primogenitors, use Itogami Island as your base to establish your own Witch Empire."

"…I will establish the laws of this world and become your God, while you manage and uphold these laws, becoming my Queen!"
