The Supreme Overlord (Multicross)

Chapter 44: 43 Slumber

Everything was proceeding according to Saigou's plan.

The pact with Natsuki Minamiya remained intact, and under his continuous persuasion, she had chosen a difficult path.

However, at the end of this path lay what Saigou desired, and for Natsuki Minamiya, the possibility to change her tragic and constrained life.

So, in a way, we both hit the jackpot. A bright future awaits us all!

...

In the Kingdom of Aldegia, within the same luxurious hotel.

For the past few years, whenever Natsuki Minamiya was in Europe, she stayed here most of the time, almost treating it as her own home.

Two years had passed since she released Aya Tokoyogi from the Prison Barrier.

Now, Natsuki Minamiya was a young woman of twenty-one, having recently graduated from university.

During these two years, Natsuki Minamiya had been traveling around the world, investigating information about the Fourth Primogenitor.

Meanwhile, Aya Tokoyogi was contacting witches she knew globally and would assist Natsuki Minamiya with her investigations whenever she had the time.

"The information about the Fourth Primogenitor is so scarce. No wonder there are always rumors claiming that the Fourth Primogenitor doesn't even exist."

"…However, based on my investigations, the Fourth Primogenitor has indeed 'awakened' several times over the past few thousand years."

"But it wasn't the true Fourth Primogenitor who woke up; it was one of her twelve Kaleid Blood."

"…It's as if someone doesn't want the world to completely forget about the Fourth Primogenitor and occasionally parades the Fourth Primogenitor around!"

"Are they treating the Fourth Primogenitor like a dog or something?"

Natsuki Minamiya sat at a rose-white round table, holding a cup of warm tea, venting her frustrations aloud.

However, even as she complained, Natsuki Minamiya's expression remained mostly unchanged, maintaining her doll-like, cold, and refined demeanor.

"Don't be upset, Natsuki-chan… Since it's one of the world's greatest secrets, how could you possibly uncover all the truths in such a short time?"

Saigou sat beside Natsuki Minamiya, speaking slowly with an air of calm composure.

"You just sit there doing nothing, slacking off while watching me run around!" Natsuki Minamiya glared at Saigou fiercely.

"I'm merely your 'substitute,' so why should I help with your work? Besides, if things don't go well, you're the one who won't fulfill the contract, not me. Why should I be anxious?"

Saigou's tone remained elegant and casual, his face adorned with a mocking smile, which nearly made Natsuki Minamiya jump up in frustration.

Years of battling demons and humans, and wandering around the world over five years, had given Natsuki Minamiya a wealth of experience and life lessons, and she had long shed her youthful naivety.

Although she still looked young on the outside, Natsuki Minamiya had become a mature and composed woman.

She rarely got emotionally stirred by others' words—except for this devil, Saigou.

Natsuki Minamiya always felt that this devil was born to oppose her; no matter what she did, he would always be sarcastic, consistently driving her to the edge of exasperation.

However, deep down, Natsuki Minamiya knew that in her life, which lacked close relatives and friends, she had already come to regard this devil as the most important person in her life.

Because only he had been by her side for five years, never leaving for even a moment.

The time they had spent together far exceeded that with anyone else.

"Shut up, devil! You have no right to speak here when you're doing nothing!"

Unable to outwit him in verbal battles, Natsuki Minamiya could only resort to this fierce yet ultimately feeble attitude.

Saigou, however, didn't mind this.

The reason he did nothing was mainly because he believed slacking off was the most enjoyable.

His main task was to absorb energy for his growth, and as long as he remained by Natsuki Minamiya's side, this task would naturally complete itself.

As for the Fourth Primogenitor and the Cleansing, those are just side quests.

It would be great if he could complete them, but it's not a big deal if he doesn't.

Saigou had struggled enough in the past, striving to climb higher. Now that he finally had a chance to slack off, he wasn't about to push himself again.

Leave that kind of hustle to young people like Natsuki Minamiya!

"Calm down, Natsuki! Mr. Zarathustra must have his reasons for doing things this way." Aya Tokoyogi sitting elegantly across from Natsuki Minamiya. She was dressed in a twelve-layered kimono and knelt in a traditional posture as they enjoyed their afternoon tea together.

"Aya, why are you always speaking up for this devil? You always take his side."

Who is really your ally here?

"I'm merely speaking the truth, not deliberately siding with anyone or showing favoritism." The Witch of the Notaria replied, her mesmerizing fiery eyes gazing at Natsuki Minamiya. Her wide sleeves concealed her cherry lips, and the corners of her eyes curved into a playful smile, exuding a hint of charm and allure.

"Aya, how is your work coming along?" Natsuki chose not to dwell further on the issue and instead inquired about Aya Tokoyogi's work regarding the witches.

"My work has been progressing smoothly, but what I'm doing isn't the most important. The most crucial thing is still the information about the Fourth Primogenitor."

Her words made Natsuki Minamiya furrow her brows once more. "…What we know is that Lost Warlord, Fall Gazer, and Chaos Bride must possess all the information regarding the Fourth Primogenitor."

"…But we have no means of forcing those three Primogenitors to reveal everything they know. It's even highly likely that most of the Kaleid Blood are in their possession."

Aya Tokoyogi's slender brows also knitted together at this point. "…So, even if we find one of the Kaleid Blood, we'll still have to contend with those three Primogenitors?"

"Hmph, when I decided to carry out the plan Zarathustra gave me, I was already prepared for anything, even if it meant opposing the three Primogenitors!" Natsuki Minamiya said, closing her beautiful eyes with a cold and proud expression. Her commanding presence already bore the majesty of a queen.

"Well said!"

Suddenly, Saigou began clapping. "… Natsuki-chan today is truly radiating dominance!"

With Saigou's exaggerated praise, the aura that Natsuki Minamiya had painstakingly built up dissipated in an instant.

She gave Saigou a disgruntled look, her mouth opening as if to speak, but no words came out.

Seeing Natsuki's helpless expression, Aya Tokoyogi covered her mouth and laughed.

The three of them together had a certain air of a family of three.

Just then, a knock came at the door of the hotel room. Instantly, the three composed themselves, bringing a serious atmosphere back into the room.

"Come in!"

At Natsuki Minamiya's command, the door opened.

A young girl with long silver hair and sapphire-like eyes stood at the entrance.

She had a tall and slender figure, a noble bearing, and her face still had a touch of youth, making her appear quite young.

The girl stepped gracefully into the room, performing a perfect royal courtesy to Saigou, Natsuki Minamiya, and Aya Tokoyogi.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your afternoon tea." She said with a warm smile and respectful demeanor.

"You haven't disturbed us at all. Please, go ahead and state your business, Princess La Folia Rihavein!" Saigou replied with a gentle smile.

"Mr. Zarathustra, Miss Natsuki Minamiya, we have received accurate and reliable information regarding the subject of your investigation."

"...Regarding the location where the 12th Kaleid Blood, known as Dodekatos, is in slumber!"

The First Princess of the Kingdom of Aldegia said with a formal smile.
